Mayo negotiations + OC interviews next week

Ok if that’s the case, fine. But still a valid point. The Steve hate here is ridiculous.
Me being a “hater” isn’t a valid point in the least. I don’t think I’ve ever even said anything about him aside from the fact that he looks like he’s on the Patricia diet plan and likes uppers.

How's the defense done against good starting QBs over the past 2 seasons?
I agree, bad. But on this team, the d has been better than anything else. You blame Steve. But think mayo is the second coming of bill? He’s equally at fault than. Why’s everyone up his ass

This was a direct message to season tickets holders and fans “ change is coming”.
right. i meant the fact that it was even messaged, very unlike how things have been done before.

wondering if J Kraft has had enough...

Mayo will be DC and assistant HC. He looks like he's put pressure on Kraft.

And in my opinion, it’s a personnel problem. We have a trash interior d line, slow linebackers and a secondary without a #1 cb. Coaching has been fine based on what we have.

The Patriots version of checks and balances. Belichick's job is not in jeopardy, but Bob put his foot down at the right time.

I haven't played football since my freshman year in high school, but I imagine it commands more respect when you are actually being coached by a former player. Mayo will be a better HC than Vrabel, and that's saying a lot. He'll obviously need a GM, but I sincerely hope Jerod is the next in line for HC in NE.

Who knows, maybe Bill retires from coaching, but keeps the GM role.

This is ridiculously transparent for the Patriots. Kind of freaking me out.

I’m shocked at the Mayo news. It’s not a done deal but the fact that it’s being published makes it seem like it’s close to a done deal - it’s basically an announcement saying “he’s staying, his official title just hasn’t been stamped down yet.”

Seems like he’ll be the DC or maybe even more than that. Possible HC of the NEP in the future?
I really think the Krafts were very concerned about not losing Mayo. Stevie can take a back seat as far as they are concerned.

I was wondering if this would make Bill walk.

Interesting times. The Krafts are impressive to pull this off.

DON’T UNDERESTIMATE BILL’S DESIRE TO OVERTAKE SHULA.

But think mayo is the second coming of bill? He’s equally at fault than.

How is the guy who's not calling the plays equally at fault? How are you getting that formulaic equation? And when did Barmore become trash?

This makes more sense. So he will be the DC, basically. They don’t want him to leave just to be someone else’s DC, he can be the DC here. I don’t think another team is actually going to make him their HC.
It doesn't make sense to me. Is he asking Steve to take one for the team? Maybe he will send Steve to LV to fix their defense? I'm a BB guy but stop this obfuscation. Put names and titles together and get it over with.

As long as Steve works for Dad, his legitimacy as a coach will be a question. He needs to cut the cord and go prove himself with another team. Absent that, his longer term future is questionable given Bill's age and inevitable exit in the relatively near term.
Go to LV fix their defense.

Wow. Another first. Bill issuing a retraction or clarification. Yea, that definitely pissed off Mr. Kraft. He's talking about guarantees, which is the cash the Owner has to pay up front. Being 27th in a 3 yr span says, we're cheap.

Barmore and Godchaux trash?

We have heard a lot of reports that Mayo is an esteemed leader on the staff which I feel like we don’t really hear about anyone else besides Belichick. I have no idea how much input Belichick had on defense in 2022 but if it was pretty much just Mayo + Steve running it, they did an outstanding job. Perhaps Mayo as an HC plus Steve as the DC and someone like O’Brien as OC would be a good staff.
Agree with every word.

But you forgot the cherry on the top: Mayo is heir apparent. Stevie is the spare. I love it!

People think it’s absolutely necessary to keep him. If he’s been involved in d and it’s been so bad, then why?he gets credit for the good parts, but not the blame for the bad?
