I'm not thrilled w/ Henry's production but I would keep him for two reasons:

1. He's the most productive of the 2 TEs and seems to have good chemistry w/ Mac.

2. Availability. One of the concerns w/ Henry was his injury history. We have other more pressing needs and need a TE that is serviceable.

I would look into trading Smith. You only take a $6M dead cap hit if he's traded after June 1st. Maybe the Tits will take him back since he had a career year there and they need play makers.
On Jonnu Smith the Titans don't have a good QB similar to us so he'd going from the frying pan into the fire a Trade not happening.

But they Draft extremely well unlike the Patriots.

They have been drafting at the top of the draft forever. When you can select Burrow first overall and Chase with the fifth pick in the draft, you better hit a home run. The Bengals have drafted in the top 11 picks of the draft in five of the last six years.

The Patriots haven't drafted in the top 11 since 2008 when they selected Jerod Mayo.

If you are ok with the Patriots to be a bottom third team with at least one or two of them being one of the worst team for about a half a decade, I bet the Patriots can have a stacked roster. And they will have to be lucky enough to be the worst team in the league the year a future elite QB is available in the draft too.

All of the secondary & LB coaches are ex-lacroisse players - this is not true.
Pellegrino, Belichick and Belichick are all ex-lacroisse players. Fact.
Nobody is interested in interviewing Lil Stephen - this is not true - you have no idea what really happens. If BB and his son want to work together, no-one would ask to interview Stephen. That is how it works in the real world - people respect other's wishes.
No actually, in the real world teams ask other teams permission to interview coaches that are still under contract, if they are interested. We see this every season. Teams will trade for coaches. No team has asked to interview Lil Stephen. Ever. That's a fact. We would know if they did.
Bill protects him - this is not true - you have no idea what really happens. Plus Stephen calls a great D - we lost all of our senior LBs and two of our three top CBs, and the D got better. As you note, Flores left and Mayo joined, and the D was still good. If Mayo leaves leaves, no-one expects the D to tank. What is the steady and consistent about the D play calling? No need to protect someone who does a great job.
In what world do you live in where you actually believe Bill won't protect his son?
You said it yourself, the D was good w/ Flores then w/ Mayo. Those are both facts. We don't know what'll happen w/ the D if Mayo leaves. It's not about the play calling, it's about the coordinating aspect, which Mayo said is what he did. Ken stated that was a huge part of a DC job (more so than play calling).

I now know if you cleverly weave everything together or if it is all confused in your mind.
Sure, I'm putting 2 & 2 together. Thanks for the cleverly compliment.

Huh? In his last season Smith had 448 yds / 8 TDs (plus 1 rush TD) w/ that QB.

He's had 539 yds / 1 TD (0 rush) in two seasons with ours.

Our comps in drafting should be 49ers and chiefs . They also seem to be having a pretty solid core .

49ets winning with Brock purdy epitomizes ultimate coaching and team composition.

My point both the Titans and Raiders will be in that FA market and Draft looking for a QB.

Bill never questioned Brady's ability he didn't want to start paying for 2022 Brady before the 2018 & 2019 seasons. Brady then insisted on a no franchise clause and decided he was leaving after 2019 since he couldn't get the commitment he wanted.
Belichick was openly talking about Brady's "age and contract situation" as early as 2014. He of anyone had the closest exposure to Brady and he grossly underestimated Brady's capacity to continue playing at a very high level for many more seasons. 2014 with those comments is when the souring of the relationship started because Brady was being openly doubted by his head coach. The result, 7 years later Brady was still winning a Super Bowl, but for another franchise.

Who cares? He's been gone for 4 years now. It is what it is. The bed has been made and Bill's lying in it.

I cared enough to post it. I suppose anyone who agrees with it cares. I was responding to comment that Bill never questioned Brady's ability. That's not true. As I pointed out, he started questioning it in 2014. Way too soon.

It's like anyone who favors Belichick wants everyone else to just disregard anything negative about him because "it's in the past" and "it is what it is." But it's okay to continue calling him a "genius" and the "GOAT" and unconditionally carry on with "IBWT" despite the 25-26 record since Brady left. 3 seasons now of absolutely nothing.

So, if Curran is right, Lazar was wrong. And I think most of us, if not all, hope that Curran was right.

A lot of needed moves are pretty easy to see:

Patricia and Judge need to be shuffled to other spots. Judge to special teams and Patricia to a special assistant makes sense.
Bring back the old system and an O.C. who's run it (That means no Kingsbury!) and can get Jones back to a good place mentally
Get a left tackle (Brown can be shifted back to RT), a CB1, and a WR1
Get speed at ILB
Get a speedy FS if McCourty retires

There's plenty more, but those are nose-on-face level obvious.
I didn't see what Lazar said that you might be referring to. Can you give me the readers digest version?

At this point I’m good bringing in the Jets O line coach and OC it would be a massive improvement.

I never subscribed to IBWT. The bloom has been off the rose for some time now.

But, the Brady situation was a while ago now and we'll never know what happened there for sure until Brady and BB's biographies are written.

Lazar has said that based on Belichick's end of the year press conference, he believes that Belichick may have believed that Jones was the issue with the offense and not the coaching. It was speculation on Lazar's part and portrayed as such. I think people are just overstating what he said.

We get it man, but all you do is talk about Brady. Let it go or take it to the sub-forum. There's plenty to talk about w/o having to rehash the past.

Hopefully the Patriots can go 1-15 for the next 3 years so they can draft as well as the Bengals
Good chance to get a Josh Allen/Joe Burrow type QB sign me up.

Based on Bill's last press conference, Lazar surmised that he may think Mac was more of the problem than the coaching since he wouldn't commit to Mac as the starter. Lazar was hypothesising.

You taking over moderator duties?

I talk about a lot more than just Brady. But whatever, you do you, and I'll do me. Neither of us are in the position of telling another member what they can or cannot post or where to post it.

You have to wonder about these forever in the doldrums teams though that never won anything.

The Bengals, the Jaguars, even the Bills and Jets, the Bears, the Chargers, and many more, are examples of horribly run franchises.

Maybe, maybe, maybe they've finally turned things around... but the legacy of ineptitude means we should remain skeptical.

I really don't know of any franchise that has picked 1st or 2nd a few times that has then gone on to win Super Bowls.

Indy with Peyton Manning and Edgerrin James along with Dallas landing Aikman (and then Russell Maryland) is the only example I can think of.

Suck for Luck 90% of the time insures a lot of Suck.
