Does Belichick Last Beyond 2023, and What Needs to Happen?

Money should be spent on the OL, assuming quality players are available.

Not enough WR’s to warrant that spending. Either bring back Jakobi or trade for one.
If they want a WR they’ll definitely need to trade for one, or (shivers) draft one. The FA class is trash.

But outside the awful coaching go ballistic upgrading this O line

I know Fatt Matt is big, but counting him twice? Come on.
im not that bad... i only counted hm once... listed him twice though

I don't feel they fell apart at the end of this year. They went 3-5 and did get outplayed in the first Bills game, but the losses to the Vikings, Raiders, and Cinci were all tainted by horrible inexplicable calls, and this last game was 2 KO returns plus 11 points of bad calls. Should have won all 4 of those games. Yes, we made mistakes in those games that need to be corrected, but we're competitive. There's some similarities to the 2000 team, and the next season we won a SB.
They ended 2-4 and missed the playoffs because of it. It doesn't matter how or why. They needed 1 more dub, didn't get it.

You can post as many pictures as you want (including the guy who had a lot to do with 2 of those) and the positives outweigh the negatives more than any one who has ever coached in the league.
Say it with me.....
BB's decision-making skills have deteriorated dramatically in recent years

No you just evidently don’t understand what he said very well.
We're in the business of winning.
I'm frustrated that we haven't won a playoff in 3 years (now 4).
I feel we can be a contender as soon as this season.

Pretty B&W to me. What do you think he meant?

We disagree on that.

Show me the quote where he said Belichicks job is in jeopardy. That’s what you implied.

If you say the roster is good right now, then Bill has been a mediocre coach at best going 25-25 or 25-26 (playoff loss). He's missed the playoffs 2 out of the last 3 years with the addition of a 7th playoff team. If you think the roster is bad, then Bill is a bad GM. Either way you're walking yourself into a checkmate.

Bill was at his best in his early years when he had veteran coaching staff, FO, good drafts to add to Parcells leftovers and an ascending QB who became the GOAT. Despite bad drafts later on, the 2nd dynasty was carried by Brady and Gronk going in God mode with enough supporting players to cover up the draft mistakes.

Now he has arguably the worst coaching staff in the league, not enough players who can carry the team (who also are arguing with him and other coaches) has made awful personnel decisions and has held his now 4th Annual December Slide event. Get better coaches, more impact players and most importantly...a QB. Look at Andy Reid, he was a mediocre coach in KC and was never going to be a threat in the AFC until he landed Mahomes. John Harbaugh was a dead man walking until Lamar Jackson bought him some time. QB's are coach savers or coach killers.

Kraft has observed the greatest coach ever for over 20 years. He knows what he has. Kraft isn’t an idiot. Belichick is here as long as he wants to be.

I guess Kraft was lying when he said what he said in Palm Beach this Spring. Or maybe he has 'dementia.'
You used his comments to refute Belichick is here as long as he wants to be.
That would mean those comments imply his job is on the line.
They do not.

So he wasn’t lying, he doesn’t have dimentia, and he didn’t say belichicks job is in jeopardy.
I think we are all set on this discussion now.

Well at least we agree that he doesn't have 'dimentia.'

Almost no coach or GM ever wins every single year and never has down periods. Certainly not for over 20 years.
Experiencing short term average results for the first time in 20+ years doesn’t make you bad.
The league is designed to drive everyone to .500. Staying on top longer than anyone ever has and pulling the plug, then being average for 3 years is not failure or incompetence.

Well at least we agree that he doesn't have 'dimentia.'
As I said, I think we are all set with this discussion now, thanks for acknowledging that with your typical petulance.

“I expect them to start playing their best football at the end of the year”. They ended this year losing 5 of 7, last year 4 of 6. How did they end in 2019 and 2020?
Games in January are just an extension of the preseason.

A+ for 'petulance.' Bravo.

So, to get this thread back on track for the "fire BB people" - since the sniping back and forth isn't productive, let's try and get it back on topic. We don't need 100 posts of BB sucks, and the last 20-years don't matter because it was all Brady, etc. I sort of feel like we've done that already. Like, a lot.

Not sure if anyone saw the press conference yesterday. He was absolutely eviscerated, and I would say all but two questions were absolutely brutal. My impression, based on his demeanor and his attitude, is that he's extremely frustrated and aggravated by how the season ended. I think he really believed they had a shot to compete, and based on how some of these last few games went, they were certainly in all of them. Even the one on Sunday. Obviously, when you take away the two kickoff returns, and they're not forcing the ball down the field and maintained the same approach, the way they were playing defense, even with the two plays Allen made, they were in it. Which when you think back to where they were a year ago, that was a surprising change.

I think he really thought they'd pull it together and the fact they didn't, especially with this group, I think really bothered him.

"Just a quick reflection of the season and honestly there'll be a lot more time spent on all of this later," said Belichick. "But our record is right around .500, which is what it's been kind of all year. With that, some good things and some not so good things, so nobody's satisfied with that. That's not our goal. We need to try to improve on that. Need to improve on it."

But I feel like he's upset enough about how it ended that they're going to make some moves this offseason. At least that's the impression I came away with after watching it yesterday.
