The interceptions are not on Mac.

Agholor should have caught the contested ball or worst case at least slapped it away.

The last two are forced choices and the pass to Harris was because of lack of chemistry and Harris not being a great receiving back. Henry was overthrown a bit in pressure.

Otherwise he was on money helping us compete after 2 ST gifted TDs.

Mac has shown enough this season to ensure we put the best players and we have a decent chance of winning like 49ers . The playcalling is the difference between us and 49ers.

  1. Firstly sack Cam Achord and replace with Joe Judge .
  2. Next move Patricia to Ernie role and get a new OC. Not sure if we need BoB or someone else.
  3. Hire a new offensive line coach a veteran from college football or one of the other teams.
  4. Fire WR coach Troy Brown for failing to develop Thornton and get a new one.
Now resign some of our players

Harris at less than 5 million AAV on a 1 year prove it contract.
J Jones if he is not too expensive
Peppers.
Meyers at 11-13 MM AAV

Trade Jonnu and take a cap hit of 6-8 million. No point wasting snaps on him.
Cut all contacts with agholor
Cut Folk
Cut Bailey
Cut T Brown
Cut Ferentz
Cut M Bryant
Cut Cajuste or sign as PS player.

Now in the off-season depending on available players, this would be my priority for signings

  1. OT mid level veteran like Karras
  2. Stud athletic Linebacker to spy on mobile QB
  3. Middle level CB like Mills

In draft go
OT
OT
Safety
LB / CB
WR / TE
Kicker
Punter

You left QB off the draft list. While maybe not a need, depending on who you ask. Still think you need to take one.

Can we hope that we have a third productive draft in a row and improve the talent so we can be spared Myles Bryant, James Ferentz, and Matt Sokol being on the 53? That’s just embarrassing.

Let me count the ways Myles Bryant caused problems for his team.

He had the tackle on Hines but whiffed. Was Bryant not prepared to play this game. Did a family member pass away recently? He was less than stellar this game and all season.

Probably need to upgrade his position. I don’t like the player.

BB benched Malcolm Butler for "not being prepared to play", but let Bryant play...

Reviewing the second Hines kickoff TD there’s a blatant hold of Tavai by the Bills #44. That’s what created the crease. Then Bryant whiffed on the tackle. And the kicker took a poor angle.

This one play summarizes the Patriot season.

Tom Dmitroff once asked Bill about drafting Julio Jones. Bill said you can always find good receivers later, or words to that effect. His offensive philosophy has always negated the importance of great receivers, even though he went out and got Moss, a great move. He values receivers less than players at other positions. That’s one reason the Pats don't have a no. 1 receiver.
Yeah... as much as we all want that "#1 guy" it seems as if it's not in the cards with Belichick, he'd rather have a fleet of #2s. Unless a guy like Moss kinda falls from the sky for an unbelievable deal.

I'm looking for a good explanation of some Mac observations I've had, and others have, but the discourse would either fizzle out or go in a non-constructive direction.

What exactly is up with Mac's throwing? I know keywords like velocity have been used, arm strength, etc. - but then there are some folks who immediately refute each point. I'm not asking for someone to respond to this with "it's because they're mac homers", I assume there's just more nuance to it. and maybe a few questions will help:

His tosses do seem to have a touch more of an arc, and therefore hang in the air a bit more. I feel like this is why we're a bit more effective on bigger plays than quick routes. Is this an arm strength problem? I could see a scenario in which, if you don't have the right velocity, it's actually pretty hard to do those shorter passes because your windows are both shorter and the radius is smaller.

Or is this a "processing what's on the field" issue? Does he not process information quickly enough to get into that rhythm?

It felt like today was probably the best pass-outing we've gotten from Mac, and I could be wrong, but even intermediate passes were more developed routes, nothing super quickly timed. I have a lot of work I gotta do on Sundays so I can't watch as closely as I'd like.

Also, when the receiver is wide open, it seems like the ball takes just a hair too long to get there and eats up the opportunity for YAC. Is this true? Or is this a scheming issue?

I will totally concede to being objectively wrong, as I could just be looking for things to criticize. Just would like a nuanced take on this.

He might be at safety next year. Not great in man coverage but he turned out better than many expected.
I’m not opposed to that experiment…though I feel like I recall Philly tried that and it didn’t go well

Matthew Slater screwed up and allowed himself to be taken out of the play.

Watch Adrian Phillips #21 be too passive and get sealed off. He could have done a much better job fighting off the block.

Tavai is trying to do just that but is being held. Pretty blatant too. Should have been called.

And Myles Bryant is going to Myles Bryant.

Last ditch is the kicker not to make the tackle but to slow him down. Fails because his angle is off. Force him to cut back to the middle.

Once he hits the sideline he’s gone.

There is also poor coaching here.

I STILL can’t believe that happened, and that he didn’t win a ring here

Not a chance. Bill will sit on it as long as he can.
He doesn’t have to go. He was never named OC. You hire BOB (or whoever) and Patricia goes back to special assistant for whatever.

Probably the most embarrassing season of bb era due to the experiment on offense... Complete joke. Even more embarrassing than the Cam newton year. Defense was playoff caliber. Special teams and offense horrible. Every single Mac game was a slow start in the first half with the second not much better only bailed out by the defense tds
Cam was 7-8 as a starter in 2020, and Mac was 6-8 this year.

Star Trek We Have A Long Way To Go GIF

Sticking with my Start Trek Undiscovered Country theme for a minute.

I find I am optimistic that Bill will make changes now there's no post season. I think of Hines didn't do his thing (twice) then you can look at this as a game where they played well and made the playoffs, then Bill might have stayed with his guys. He still might, so who knows. It feels like there's more apt to be changes missing the playoffs then not.

I have not been on the Mac needs to go train, but watching the game today, I don't know if he has what it takes to lead an NFL team. I can't put my finger on it. I still would like to see what he can do with a proper OC.

I am on the #1 WR train. Nelson Agholor is horrible. I think the rest of the WRs are fine.

Never thought specials would cost them this game. It is what it is.
