We're on to the OFF-Season

35 catches for 2 TDs and less than 500 yards is not a number #1 TE. Getting paid like one does not make him one.

Thornton is not a number 1 WR either regardless of what he becomes. All high performing QBs have elite weapons. I know we are used to top offenses without elite WRs for most of 20 years but Brady is the exception and not the rule.

Yes OL is a bigger need but my list was not necessarily in order of importance.

Not worried about DBs as we always find the piece

Ahmed - You've been on this board for ages. I would think that, by now, you'd understand how a bad O-line affects the rest of the Offense. Not to mention the atrocious play-calling by Patricia. If you don't think that affected both Henry and Thornton, then so be it. Just says that you don't understand the game half as well as you'd believe.

Sorry. I don't buy what your selling that your list wasn't in order of importance from your standpoint.

Did you even watch the f'in games this year? Probably not.

The Team has fielded plenty of quality wideouts.
It's a FACT that Brady Iced out rookies in 2019.
It's a FACT that we had S**T at QB in 2020 in Cam Newton.
It's a FACT that in 2021 we had good wideouts in Meyers & Bourne. The bigger issues was losing James White.
It's a FACT that in 2022 our O-Line stunk. Show me a team that's used 5 RTs and still won 8 games. Who's LT took 11 F'IN penalties.

Tell me you don't know what you're talking about without telling me.

Bourne and Myers are awful and they'll be awful next year too.

Fact.

We can now give the 2021 FA class a grade: C-

For having spent the most in FAcy last year, the return was woeful. These are the players we should keep from that class:

Matt Judon.

Those we should cut/trade:

Everybody else.
??? Mills and Godchaux have been solid and don’t count much against the cap. Henry is overpaid for his production, but looked a lot better in 2021 with a real OC. I think he’s still worthwhile if we get a better OC. No idea what happened with Bourne this year, but at lease his contract is cheap. Same comment about the OC there.

Agholor and Smith have been disasters and really shouldn’t be back. Agholor won’t, but I think they’re tied with Smith for another year because of the contract. Let’s see if we can get an OC who can get some sort of production out of him.

We used to laugh at fans of other teams always complaining about how the refs favoured the Pats. Now we have fans doing the same.

What we have is people pointing out FACT. Something that you're allergic to.
Even @patfanken mentioned how horrible the officiating was in a couple of games. When someone like him is pointing it out, you should probably take notice.

But feel free to mute the thread and let others talk if you don't like reality.

Festy - I know exactly what I'm talking about. You claiming that Meyers and Bourne such shows just how ridiculous you are.

That's like, your opinion, man.

I don't think that either are a number 1 OR a number 2.

The Pats offense, post last year's bye have been something to marvel at. Not in a good way.

Hopefully they adjust the offense to get him more involved. It was completely asinine to revolve the offense around the 3WR set when you just paid huge money for Smith and Henry. BB and the Offense failed to put those two in positions to succeed, IMHO. However, if they decide to part ways with Smith, it will either be a trade at the draft (4.85M savings) or a post June 1st Cut ($4.75M savings) or Trade ($11M savings).

good thread

any idea I thought I saw if we cut Henry it was 10mil. so it it possible we cut henry instead of smith ?

I get pretty tired of people gatekeeping other people's fandom.

Its embarrassing for them.
I miss when people didn’t take thing so seriously.

People are going to be frustrated at times. But man, at some point you have to at least look at the positives and act like you still are a fan of this team. This team didn’t go 2-15 here.

On the other hand, we can criticize and call out the fact that we did not like how the team was coached and how they executed this year. Fans have every right to be frustrated with things we saw this year. Frustrates me when people make valid points in regards to concerns with this team and get blown up for it for being “negative.”

Nope. Looking at the two year production of these overpaid characters, only Judon deserved his contract. This includes being available for games. Hell, Judon deserves a raise. Extend him. Dump the rest.

Yet, you do it with you're ridiculous responses.
I also find it laughable that you are agreeing with @Joey007 when you are a PRIME CULPRIT of the toxic negativity.

They had a bad year and the fact that they still won 8 games says way more about the league than it does about the coaching and talent they have. IMO.

There's lots for the Patriots to work on in the spring and summer. As long as they have Bill they'll never be one of those dumpster fire teams but they also need to be inching toward the goal here and not away from it.

They went in the wrong direction this year and it's disappointing that there are people who won't admit that without having a boat load of excuses as to why.

That doesn't make me or anyone else a bad fan for saying that.

One thing you don't see me doing is calling people out for their extreme optimism and excitement. Do you as far as I'm concerned.

I don't tell anyone what kind of fan they are or should be.

If you wanna gatekeep what kind of fan I am that's your business. No one cares.

Feel free to go through the game day thread and you'll find that I am objectively positive when the team is doing well and objectively negative when they aren't.

I don't have to be a cheerleader for what you want from a fan.

I‘m just thinking about the expression don’t throw the baby out with thr bath water. Unless you want the baby thrown out, of course!

Alex Smith sucked but Jim Harbaugh and Andy Reid were able to get decent play out of him and make the playoffs. He was salvageable. Coaching matters a lot IMO, I only want to dump the guys who are really worthless. And find quality coaches who can take advantage of what the others do well, to ensure we don’t wind up with no talent at all at that position. For example, while Henry’s production wasn’t great this year, I don’t want to wind up with our 2019/2020 TE situation again….

Not to be picky but Trent had 13 penalties enough to earn the honor as the most penalized offensive lineman in the league. Maybe even the most in the entire league. And allowed 8 sacks 5th most in the NFL. Absolute trash year by our LT.
Yeah this guy is worthless and needs to go…..HORRIBLE this year and has been a huge liability…Gbye Trent!
