Patriots implement zone run schemes this offseason, seemingly for no clear reason... don't name an OC, implement Patricia as playcaller... seems like a wasted year... almost like they're waiting for someone who's not available yet... everyone thinking O'Brien, right? But what if they implemented those schemes to prepare the guys for their 2023 OC Sean McVay...
Okay take off the hats now. That sh*t definitely didn't happen.
This was an absolutely embarrassing end to a very embarrassing season and today’s game really demonstrated why Bill Belichick should no longer be in charge of the New England Patriots.
His coaching decisions/appointments this year are probably some of the worst coaching moves in NFL history…… he is always trying to outthink the room…..and when Brady was here he got away with it…..Brady made him look like a genius. As soon as Brady left… Bill came back to earth. What he did this year was some of the dumbest coaching decisions ever, and his lack of adjustments (punter, KO, ST and other whiffs) was glaring.
There is so much material to grab from here that it’s overwhelming. Only good news about Miami beating the Jets (let’s be honest….everyone saw that coming……even with a nothing QB)….is that they will most likely be out of the running for Sean Payton. It is time for a change here and Payton would be a brilliant move for this team going forward.

Obviously there’s no way that was the actual plan, but if McVay is out of LA, it’s definitely worth exploring. At the very least, just so the Krafts can establish a relationship with him such that when he’s ready to coach again and BB is ready to retire, they can pounce. And if he actually on board with that succession plan? Jump on it now.
Definitely no guarantee but I'd put the chances pretty low. If Bill tries to tell Kraft that no changes, or minimal changes, need to be made on the staff then that may lead to a difficult situation. But I have a hard time seeing any other situation than Bill having a proposal for changes ready for Kraft within a few days.
I liked the effort today. We came to play in very tough circumstances, but at the end of the day we don’t have the talent.
This season was ultimately a pretty big disappointment. For me this year was about the growth of Mac and we screwed it up bad with Patricia and Judge. I’m not on the fire Belichick bandwagon but Kraft must insist on some major changes, mainly to the coaching staff but also having someone come in the front office who will challenge Belichick on picks like Cole Strange. We can’t blow our first rounder again.
Not a horrible take, but I think you're selling our defense a little too short. I think we played really well, we were down 2 of our top 3 corners, had two turnovers against a great offense and a top two qb in the league.
Given the strength of the opponent, the defense wasn't bad overall. Allen and Brown made great plays on their TD connection. The 3rd-10 50-yard TD pass to Diggs basically capped off the season. Defense was a bit leaky against the run. Buffalo was 7/12 on 3rd down. Not a stellar day for the defense and they're not beating the better quarterbacks anymore. That said, as bad as offense and ST were this season, the defense is their best unit by far.
Yeah, it's a ridiculous stand. Without BB, this team would probably have won 6 games this year if lucky. My family always says that we'll regret if we ever get rid of him.
People always fall back on this for whatever reason and it's getting really old. You could say that for a lot of coaches in the league - Steelers, Seahawks, Lions, Giants, Jaguars.
At the end of the day we have a below 500 record in 3 full seasons. Eventually the excuse making needs to stop.
Tough loss to end the season. Can't give buffalo two special teams touchdowns and expect to win the game, not against this team. I'm proud of the way this team has played down the stretch. This was a fun yet painful season in which we seemed to get critical calls against us by the refs at the most inopportune time.
We have a lot of money in free agency with holes on the O-line and secondary. We have to answer do we resign Jonathan Jones and Jacobi Meyers?
We do have a lot of young talented players on both sides of the ball. A lot to look forward to, but a disappointing way to end the season.
It's imperative to resign Myers and Jones, those guys are savy vets, with slater and McCourty seemingly retiring we'll need all the leadership possible, it's going to more on guys like Uche, judon, barmore and Phillips to add to the leadership group.
As we all know there will be changes on the staff, of course the roster as well. I'm expecting another good groh draft, with some elite talent on offense in free agency. Great experience for all the rookies as they all played at a high level for the most part.
This season was full of emotional highs and lows, but in the end we as we've done all season the self inflicting miscues hurt our chances.
Mac showed alot of poise this game, and with a REAL offensive coach I expect Mac to take that next leap in his young career!

McVay is not coming here as an OC. He’s contemplating going into commentating which will allow him to remain in LA and be paid well. If he doesn’t go into commentating he will be the HC of the Rams. If he got on the open market he’d be first in line for another HC job.
Bill made comments on the radio weeks back that seemed to say he will replace Patricia but couldn't do it mid-season, then walked that back a couple days later because it most likely undermined Patricia's ability to do his job for the rest of this year.
I disagree that is what he said about the offensive staff. The only commitment I heard from him was they aren't going to the wishbone.
"The system that we have in place, I feel good about," Belichick said. "Which includes the offensive staff, it includes me, it includes whatever the whole process is."

the silver lining ( I hope) is that this is the end of Patricia, Agholor and Junno. Parker, Bourne, Henry and hopefully Meyers will be the strength of this team going forward, we need to add a true playmaker on the O and with our running backs we can do some damage next year. If we get a true offensive coach, Mac might do well next year but if not we have to move on from him after year 3
