Nobody is suggesting that Jones does not start this Saturday.

If the Pats are down by more than 10 points and the offense is sputtering then make a change at QB.

A slow start and FG's won't beat this Joe Burrow Bengals team.

We see routes short of the sticks because it’s called that way. Because they don’t thrust Mac throwing the ball in critical situations. since his injury his average depth of target is at the bottom of the league because the coaching staff don’t want him turning the ball over.

At some point we need to realize that if the game are called that way is also cause by Mac’s limitation and not just because Matt Patricia doesn’t know what his doing.

It's weird how people simply ignore the shift in the O play calling pre- and post- Mac's injury. It's clear that Bill and Patricia decided to throttle Mac after he led the league in INT%.

The fact alone that this team has failed to score a TD in the 4th Qtr after 14 games, shows you how anti-clutch Mac is. Blaming the play schemes/calls or OL for 90% of Mac's performance, is just hiding his own limitations.

Mac isn't the only QB this season that's had to deal with bad OL play or poor O calls, yet he remains at the bottom of the league in rating.

Let's see how he performs these last 3 games. Hopefully, he shows improvement.

Let's be honest this season is now over after that debacle against the Raiders so they should write this season off. Ordinarily I would say that is a perfect chance to get a look at young guys like Zappe but in this case we need to ride it out with Mac. We need to do so because pulling in now while we are technically still in it pretty much closes the book on his career here. This was a lost year for Mac's development due to, yet another recent poor decision, by Bill and we need to see if Mac can play next year with a real OC.

If an OL misses a block thats the way it goes. It happens. Orlando Brown for KC is missing blocks and Mahomes has to react. Josh Allen does not get Wall of China blocking every game. Look at the Jets game. The OL was not the issue in Las Vegas.

Furthermore, a good QB can make his OL look great because he gets the ball out quickly and his deep ball is a legit concern that defenses need to respect.

Burrow was sacked 29 times in the first 8 games and went 4-4. Since then, he's been sacked 8 times in the last 6 games and is 6-0. Mac's been sacked 26 times all season and is 5-6. Mac isn't handling pressure well. You can't play at QB in the NFL if you can't handle pressure.

They have plenty of time. I'm just telling you he's under contract until 2024, so there's no rush to make a move right now. But it's entirely possible that we're having a different conversation this offseason depending on how things finish.

Zappe is under contract until 2025, four year rookie contract.

I didn't really need any comparisons. They've been terrible as an offense all year, and as someone who puts them in every single week, and all of last season, I know exactly where he is compared to 2021.

My statement about how he's been with the football is strictly based on the fact he's looked closer to where he did last year in terms of making smarter throws when he's been throwing it downfield these last few weeks. That's obviously in contrast with how he started this year and how he looked initially coming back from the injury.

I don't know what else you're looking for. Last week was the worst outing of his career, eclipsing last year's second meeting against the Bills. Click on the "Stats" link, and you can go break that one down too if you want. It's like you and @Triumph think I'm the one you need to convince. My opinion means absolutely nothing.

Like I said, I get why Bill is keeping him in there. But how he plays moving forward is going to factor into just how long he stays there.

Because Mac is a first-round pick and they've invested a lot of time in him and you don't give up on a player like that, especially one who threw for almost 4,000 yards and threw 22 touchdowns and won 10 games last year. Mac's Intended Air Yards per pass attempt have come way down since he had 6 INTs in his first 103 pass attempts of the season (through the Chicago game). It seems very obvious at that point the coaching staff lost all trust in Mac throwing downfield, accordingly his Intended Air Yards dropped significantly, and so did his INT% (which is no coincidence).

Here's the progression of Mac's Intended Air Yards per pass attempt (games 1-11):
9.4, 9.3, 12.2, 10.3 .......... 4.6, 5.5, 4.7, 7.9, 6.1, 4.9, 9.5

So we are just looking at things with zero context now? Vrabel was the coach of the year last year and has overachieved basically every year with his roster and QB. McVay is coming off a Super Bowl win and a team that has been banged up all year at key positions. Tomlin is a long timer in a rebuild and a rookie QB who has missed a decent amount of time. Pete Carroll is in year one of a rebuild with a journeyman QB who is overachieving and has a handful of high first round picks coming his way. Lafleur coming into the year had the best coaching record in history through 40 games.

I'm not sure if you are arguing against my point or for it. I don't think BB should be fired, just like those other good coaches who shouldn't be fired for one dud year,

If you're making a direct line between sacks and pressure, you're doing it wrong. And that QB down in Tampa is the most obvious example of that.
