Game Day Thread Official Post Game Thread- Raiders beat the Pats

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

Sorry if I haven't seen it, but I'm surprised not many people are talking about the awesome INT from Dugger. The anticipation of the screen and snatching it like that is something you rarely see. I expect him to be "the guy" when McCourty leaves which I expect this offseason.

Regarding the controversial reviewed td, it just occurred to me this was the raiders payback for the tuck rule game
Nonono Tuck play was payback for Sugar Bear.

This is just some bull **** NFL incompetence. I swear they like getting the attention from blown calls. You wouldn't think screwing up would be good PR but they get so much press and headlines out of it and there are so many ways they could improve it and they choose not to because they love the attention too much.

I think he's so valuable near the LOS that it would be a sin to have him play free safety. I really would prefer maybe Bledsoe or a guy like Mills at that position.

Didn't they get two or three delay of game calls?? Those things were unheard of in times past.
The raiders got delay calls. The Patriots were at the line snapping the ball but the ref prevented it. did you miss Belichick yelling at the ref?

Kraft stepped in when Bill was overruling the scouts and drafting garbage. So now that has improved. He needs to step in again and tell bill this isn't a frat for your buddies. Hire real coaches.

Where did you get this ridiculous idea from? The ONLY noted times that Bill over-ruled the scouting was with Jackson and Maroney. It's been speculation that BB over-ruled the scouts on the likes of Michel, but there has been zero concrete evidence. Kraft has never stepped in. All Kraft did was make an innocuous statement that the drafting needed to improve. If you're trying to infer that Wolf and Groh were put in because of bad BB/Caserio drafts, then you clearly didn't follow the timelines.. like at all. Wolf/Groh were hired by BB. Wolf was a STEAL after he got shafted by GB. When BB saw he was available, I'm certain he reached out with the specific thought in mind of replacing Caserio.

People like you claiming that Patricia and Judge "aren't real coaches" are the same yahoos who've b!t*hed and whined about The Belichick boys on defense and nepotism there. Respected players like D-Mac, Gilmore, etc, have stated that they're good coaches and that they EARNED their positions. But you all still WHINE about it.

While I agree that Patricia wasn't a good hire as an OC or even the O-Line coach, claiming he's not a real coach is asinine when the guy has umpteen years in the league as a f'in coach. Same with Judge. Bad hire as a QB coach, but still a "REAL" coach. BB brought them back because he'd worked well with them and had a good rapport with them. That's what good managers do. And yes, you out them in positions when you see if they can help the team. Unfortunately, we learned that they couldn't help the team in those areas.

BB CAN and HAS admitted to mistakes in coaching hires. Corwin Brown. Dave Gugliermo.

I was one who was calling for a new O-line coach LAST season when Bricillo/Yates failed. We got Patricia and I was told that he should be ok because he had worked for a year under Scarnecchia and Yates had played for Scar. I was right. I hated the move and Patricia/Yates did poorly getting the O-line ready consistently. The Pats NEED an O-line Coach with bonifides whom is willing to come in and do just that. I don't know if they can get Popovich to come back or if the NFL has blackballed him, but they NEED someone.

I can't put Wynn's regression on them. I put that on Wynn. Guy clearly mailed it in when he was told he was being moved from LT. Onwenu seems to have thrived since settling in at RG. Strange is a rookie. He's has good and bad. Andrews is Andrews. He's good, but has his blemishes (like failing to pick up the late blitzing LB 99% of the time). I 'm not sure what Trent Brown's issue is. He's been about 50% of what he was when he played LT for the Pats during his 1st tenure.

They also need someone who can help Mac with his mechanics on a regular basis. Mac needs to work on his pre-snap reads of defenses. He needs to recognize when a side gets overloaded and either audible out of the play or shift the protection so he doesn't leave his backside exposed. Or call something to alert the TE that HE needs to chip the farthest outside rusher before going into his route.

In the first line you're saying that we know what the coach's instructions were and in the second line you're saying we don't.

That bigger question is why some fans don't believe what they're being told and why they don't have faith in the offensive coaching.

No. He didn't say in the second line that we don't know what the instructions were. He's saying he doesn't know the REASONING behind the play call if they were attempting to play for OT. The reasoning is different than the instructions.

People don't have faith in the offensive coaching because it's proven to be a complete S**T Show. Despite having 2 of the highest paid TEs, they've not featured them. Instead, they loaded up with WR and the TE is an afterthought.

After signing Henry and Smith, the Pats should have immediately focused on the TE play-book they used from 2010-2018. They shouldn't have focused on 3WR sets, which is what they have done. In adding Parker, not shipping out Agholor, and "simplifying" the play-book, they benched the one player that seemed to be a catalyst last year in Bourne. If they'd gone with a top 3 of Parker, Bourne, and Meyers to work with Henry and Smith, I think the offense would have been less of a catastrophe than it has been.

One of the big things that people are ignoring this year is the cascade affect that the cluster-f**k of an O-line has had on the rest of the offense. Having to play 4 DIFFERENT RTs in a season is something I don't remember happening to a team. This has directly affected Mac's play, though it's not completely responsible for his regression.

For me Patricia is undoubtedly a proven winner as a positional coach while a failure as a HC. I wouldn't have a problem with BB moving Patricia back to defence but is that possible with BB junior calling the plays? Part of me feels sorry for Patricia but he chose to put himself in that position and needed to deliver better results than he has. If we don't have an offensive coaching revamp in a few weeks then I'm not sure things will get any better.

Maybe you are misinterpreting what I mean by real coach. I mean a real OC. Just because someone was a good DC or Special teams coach doesn't mean they would be a good OC or QB coach.

That has proven to be true this year. If Bill wants to move those guys to Defensive and special teams by all means.

But this season was jettisoned by bill failing to hire a real OC and deciding these guys could just learn offense on the fly. Ultimately we can blame Patricia or judge. But it's how Bill handled the whole coaching situation.

Sorry if this has been beaten into the ground already. I haven’t had time to scan the entire thread. There was no way this was going to get overturned…

I think if you look superclose he is out but given the edging of his shoe is black and they didn't have this view to see it from and just the blurry high endzone shot it was never going to be overturned. Given what happened for the rest of the game and how it ended thats not really a big deal now. It was only 2nd down anyway.

He's definitely out, but it was a great throw and catch none the less.

100%, but i can see why it wasn't overturned (even though i was screaming at the tv at the time)

Cleaning out the Patriots notebook, like only Reiss can, and he doesn't hold back either:

BUT they did have the side view of him kicking up white pellets and grass, which is a sure sign he stepped out.

In fact, Mike Pereira and Vilma specifically pointed out that they couldn't see any black pellets kicked up.

But the replay they did have showed white pellets kicking up

Weirdly i remember them saying the opposite, that you could see black being kicked up as they were referring to the black pellets on the pitch. I'll look at it again as i'm not 100%.

This photo is cropped.

It leaves out the front of his show which is white and on the line. It does show however the white turf getting kicked up, which was also visible on the replay that the booth had.

You may be right. I'm referring to the fact that they were using the pebbles as a measuring stick for where he stepped out.

The video they had though showed white pebbles flying.

I mean, Vilma / Pereira were just blind for not seeing all the white.

Even in Kontra's photo above you can see the white pebbles flying (but that comes froma photo the booth did not have). It was clear on the video replay

The photo is not cropped. Christ.
