Game Day Thread Official Post Game Thread- Raiders beat the Pats

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

This was one of those losses where I had to just sit in silence for a few minutes trying to make sense of what happened. Insanely stupid play, but not entirely unbelievable for this team. It's sad to say, but the Patriots are a dumb team. Every week there are multiple plays of the stupid variety, some to a greater extent than others (obviously the lateral takes the cake). Penalties, missed assignments (seriously what was Peppers doing on the punt that was blocked?), clock management issues (this one has been very annoying this year), drops, turnovers, you name it. The Pats are a messy, undisciplined team which is something I never though I'd say.
That’s all on Bill for being too stubborn to go outside the org to get a good OC and DC. He has a good ST coach but he‘s not coaching STs. BB did the same thing with the draft until he was made to see the light.

He’s gotten a raw deal with Patricia and Judge but enough is enough now. Rise above it and play your heart out.
Exactly. He definitely got a raw deal with Patricia and Judge but he is one of the worst QB in the league this year. Look in the mirror before putting the blame on the coaches. Like your are the only one doing your job.

Plays were there to be made every game despite Patricia and Mac didn’t make them.

My mom always told me be sure you are holding your end of the bargain before criticizing the work of other and I don’t think Mac has.

I agree with you on the coordinators. Also, I don't really see it talked about much on here, maybe it gets drowned out by the Patricia talk, but Achord has been a failure as ST coach. I've lost count of the amount of blocked punts we've had the last few years (ST was another one of our long running strengths that has gone away).

Belichick said he's responsible for the offense. That's what he said. He didn't say he's personally responsible for Mac's development and performance, because that's a pretty ridiculous position to hold (that one individual is solely responsible for another's success/development).

If nothing else, it completely robs the individual player of their autonomy and ability to earn and achieve success through their own hard work. It's always both - coach and player. It takes two to tango. You can have a great player in a horrible environment and they won't reach their potential. You can have fantastic coaches with awful talent, and they won't reach their potential.

Players win games, after all ... except when they don't ... then it's entirely the coaches fault and they bear all the responsibility. Huh.

Yeah, the offensive coaching staff is not ideal, but at some point people need to start putting some responsibility on the shoulders of the players themselves (and this goes beyond just Mac).

There is a lot of stuff in Mac's control beyond the coaching, and he isn't handling or doing much of it very well. His demeanor and poise (or lack thereof) being the most obvious.
Every single player on offense but Stevenson regressed statistically since last year. Every single player.

If it's one or two guys that's one thing. If Mac was the only one messing up, I'd agree with you. He's not. The exception is that there is one guy who isn't messing up and everyone else is.

That's a coaching issue.

Yeah that is my take. They didn't believe they could win it in OT so overreached on the last play of the game and ****ed it .
As fans we share our honest assessments of our team. The hope is the krafts will do the same this off-season.

Defensively this team is elite. Aside from judon there are no all- pros, extremely impressive!

Add a few pieces on D , and were right. There next season.

However the elephant in the room Everyone aside from rhamondre and I'd say Thornton needs overhaul.

I don't know how the krafts plan to do so, but, we need ELITE offensive talent.

They had no chance before the season even started. You have the AFC Champs, the Bills who are miles ahead of you on the road and a much improved Phins team. It was always going to be a hard road even if Mac made some progression this year.
Not to mention a lot of us knew we didn't have all that hot of an off season this year and probably lost more than we gained. Meanwhile every team in our division made very clear improvement. Zach Wilson is probably the only reason we aren't last in the division right now (I kinda think we will be as we have Cincinatti, Miami and Buffalo left while they have Jacksonville, Seattle and Miami).

Well, I’m on his side, but he has already voiced his displeasure. We all know he’s in a tough spot. He needs to put that behind him and play, for his own sake and the sake of his teammates. He’s got three more years here unless he’s traded (Vegas, SF?). It’s his agent’s job to tell him to stop because it’s not helping his future prospects. Maybe that’s what Josh told him last night when they huddled after the game. Idk.

100%

Let's be clear, I'm certainly not absolving Mac of blame for our offensive struggles. He has to be better. If he doesn't get better we will need to move on to the next guy. However, I absolutely clear him of blame for what happened in the last minute or so of that game. We'd scored 21 without reply before an almost unimaginable meltdown turned us into a laughing stock.

Patriots coaches, yes, including BB should be under the spotlight like never before. This **** has to stop. Mini camp level play and highschool screwups in week 14 are unacceptable.

This team would be 10-4 at minimum with competent QB play even with Patricia.

Two of our current wins exist because one team had Zach Wilson and one team had Mac Jones. If one of our opponents had even our QB who you think isn't competent, we'd be 5-9 right now. Also the line isn't competent and WR's aren't competent.

All we know is we have a few good running backs (who aren't world beaters) and a defense that punches up above their weight class but will eventually get dinged going up against elite talent.

Need a competent O-line to have competent QB play.
they are bad offensive line all over the NFL. Other QB can get around. Ours is one of the worst.

Oline was great last night. Mac was awful against one of the worst defense in the NFL.

Excuses excuses always excuses. It’s always everybody fault but Mac.

There's plenty of blame pie to go around but, as they say, a fish rots from the head. It starts with coaching.

THIS it's so painfully obvious. I don't get how some posters don't see it. Or it's just to feed their zappe narrative they are hanging on to. Talent level this year is better than last but we got worse. That's coaching.

And the undisciplined nature of the team? That's on coaching too. You think the players just went rogue on that last play? I don't. And if they did that's on coaching for not preaching situational football. Or ya know calling a draw instead of a kneel down.

The elephant in the room is a lot of coaching talent left. And rather than replacing them with actual OC bill hires retreads like Patricia/judge and stuck them in a role they've never done before. it was the talk all summer how bizarre bill was handling the coaching situation. But all we heard was "in bill we trust"

Well now it's obvious that you need an actual OC. It's not as easy as Bill thought...

Kraft stepped in when Bill was overruling the scouts and drafting garbage. So now that has improved. He needs to step in again and tell bill this isn't a frat for your buddies. Hire real coaches.
