Mac Jones last two weeks

If only we got the Mac that showed up against the vikes on a weekly basis.

He was a rookie last year. Name the rookie QBs who were QBs that able to carry offenses. And not just last year, but in general. Most rookies cannot carry an offense and need to follow a script to win.
Didnt say they could, but you also cannot guarantee that unit would be better from season 1 to 2...They were mediocre last year, and still had a majority of issues they had carry over to this year. Like I said, beating up on really bad teams covered up a lot of the offensive issues. Obviously they are worse with Patricia, but just giving them a credible OC doesnt necessarily turn the offense around is my point

If Brady was still here this team would be fighting for the division

Not this year. If the Pats as is were in the NFC South, they may have already locked up the division. Currently, no one in the NFC South wants to win the division including the Brady led Bucs.

But if Brady was here, he would have been able to get Belichick to disconnect Patricia's connection to the QB's helmet and call his own plays taking Patricia out of equation all together. If Brady was here, they would be running his offense and Brady would have the power to check out of any play that Patricia called that he didn't like which would happen a lot.

Mac is sailing passes over receivers heads, throwing behind them... accuracy and decision making was something we were supposed to be able to count on Mac for.
Mac's First completion to Jonnu Smith was almost picked off choke artist playing right there.

in 2020 the Pats were 40% on third down, 2021 they were 43.5%, good for 10th in the NFL...this year they are 34%. what changed? Bill, the so called greatest of all time, decided to put Matt Patricia as de facto offensive coordinator. A Cam Newton led offense was better on third down than the 2022 New England Patriots....LET THAT SINK IN PEOPLE
this disaster of a season is on Bill and his coaches and personnel and drafting than it is on Mac Jones

The OL stepping up has really exposed the real weakness of the offense, to most people.

You're right, another sub 300 yard game with 0 TDs arent bad stats . How long are we going to defend the guy? Zappe still only had 2 less TDs than Mac and he hasn't played in 6 games.

I didn't say he had a great game. I said it wasn't bad. How is that defending the guy.

And I will defend him until he proves he fails when he has a competent OC and an o-line that is at least close to average.

A credible OC and a competent o-line coach would turn this offense around. It might not make this a top 5 offense, maybe not even a top 10. But it certainly wouldn't be a disaster that it is now.

Saying a guy didn't have a bad game when he had a bad game is defending the guy. And you don't need to tell us you will defend him into the absurd, we are aware.

According to whom... media experts?
His scouting report says he has a weak arm, it's right there in black and white.
Like I said, Zappe dropped a dime from 55 yards out at the combine. Watch at the :26 second mark:

That isn't a showcase of arm strength. Nice touch though. I doubt he's the only QB there who could have done that.
He was stellar in two starts where he prepared as a starter and threw some lasers. He's college football's all-time passing yards and TD leader in a single season. "Weak arm" is your opinion and not one supported by anything other than "because I say so."

Mac started that game and started the moment he was healthy to start. Try again.
And he was pulled and Zappe crapped all over the field once the Bears figured out how easy he was to defend. If Zappe had a good arm he also wouldn't get a dozen passes batted down like they were.
Zappe threw for 309 yards, two TD's against Cleveland. That offensive showing is still the single most points this offense has scored all season...
Don't see why Mac couldn't have done that either against a weak defense with a bunch of short fields that the defense gave them.
despite Mac making 11 starts to Zappe's 2. Nothing you've said is supported by fact, it's all biased opinion... probably because he's not tall enough for you.

"Zappe is good" does not logically follow from "I don't like Mac Jones".

Well again, they had that last year and were statistically better, but again...Same Major underlying problems existed. It would look better, but how low is the standard I guess. You need to be an elite offense to win in this league now. Is an OC doing that?

Yes, we get it. Yesterday was the Super Bowl for Mac haters. Because he had a bad day yesterday, you can ignore everything else that has happened over the last year and blame it all on Jones.

Congratulations on winning the 2,453,987th I Told You So Bowl.

I said he had a bad game yesterday. He didn't have a bad game against the Vikings. He completed over 68% of his passes against the Vikings. He didn't great game, but he didn't have a bad game.

WIthout a doubt.

And he would have neutered Patricia's playcalling which is a good thing. Gimme Brady's offensive mind over those guys anyday.

This offense sucks because Mac Jones sucks. not because we are 19th in rushing yards. If you need your rushing attack to be top 10 for your QB to be average then your QB isn’t the right guy
The offense wins the game if the coach doesn’t steal a touchdown

The Vikings defense is god awful, sometimes you have to play good against good defenses too.
I understand a drop off against a good defense. What we saw the last 2 games was a drop off against other poor pass defenses.

A couple years ago, the 49ers were one play away from winning the Super Bowl and they didn't have an elite offense.

You can win without an elite offense. It is just harder these days.

But if you cannot win without an elite offense, every Mac Jones hater should want him to start every year until the Pats get high enough in the draft to draft another potential elite QB. Anyone who thinks Zappe is better than Jones should want the Pats to trade away Zappe just in case the Pats think about starting him. The only way to get an elite offense is to draft an elite QB. And that could take the Pats decades.
