Game Day Thread Official Post Game Thread- Raiders beat the Pats

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

Not really. The Bears game was the first half decent defense Zappe faced and he looked like he didn't belong in the league. Zappe's ceiling is much lower than Mac's.
Did you see Mac against the 31st and 32nd defense in the NFL in back to back games? It’s worse than what Zappe did against the Lions and the Browns

And what was last year? Mac was average at best. Didn’t beat a single good teams. Beat up on bad teams or teams with a lot of injured player. Was bad the last 5 games of the season when teams started to figure him out except for the Jags game where we play a team that had 20+ players on the Covid list.

What we saw last year is Mac ceiling not his floor.

I saw a QB that has been carried by his running game and OC and this year when we needed him to play QB for real it has been a disaster.
The Pats were 2 for 13 on 3rd downs yesterday and Vegas had the ball for 7 additional minutes.

No reason to think Zappe would have fared any better nor that Mac would have done worse than Zappe did in the Lions and Browns games. Zappe had his shot to take the job in the Bears game, he was trash and was benched as he should have been.

This is Stidham all over again IMO. I don't need to see Zappe take a single snap for the rest of the season. Let him try again to compete for the job in July if he's still with this team.

I agree that Zappe seems more likeable than Mac.

So was Cam Newton. I don't think I want him starting for my team either.

Vilma said it.

Dont rely on Mac Jones to score.

So last year didn’t happen? Hmmm
Last year's NEP OC just exposed the Corkster for what he is: A future 3rd string NFL nomad QB

(Not that other NFL coaching staffs have had too much difficulty deciphering the Corky Code)

Note: The only real question going forward is if Corky hits double digits in passing TDs this year (7 TDs after this Week 15 shutout)

This is a weird phenomenon. We were all in on blaming Patricia (and by extension BB) for the regression but now were settling in Sour Grapes territory? Give me a freaking break. Everyone (even you, I bet) were ecstatic when they drafted Mac.

Now everyone's like "Oh, he was never good to begin with". GTF out of here!
He was a great draft pick with plenty of upside. What we are witnessing is BB , Patricia and Judge absolutely destroying any chance of an NFL career he might have had.
The Jets have been doing this to QBs for years.

People are still arguing over Mac this, Zappe that and the reality is the Patriots don't really have a NFL caliper receiver.

None of these guys should be here.

They also have two tight ends who are completely useless.

Our number 1 and 2 receivers next year better not be on our team already because if so then we're in for a extended period of suck.

That's on the GM. I'd like to think he's not blind and can see what teams are doing now to win. You need playmakers in 2022. A team like the 2001 Pats would have no shot in today's game.

Patricia was also the OC when Zappe started and it looked much better than that. That tells me it’s just not a OC problem. Like everyone wants to believe.
Does that include the game against Cleveland where the pats offence had gone into cryogenic freeze? As I recall the Browns almost recovered an onside kick to give them the chance to score and get right back into it? Also the same game with a muffed punt return and an int for 2 short field TDs? Not exactly an offensive masterclass but whatever makes you feel better I suppose.

Pats passing offense the last 5 seasons:

2018

266.1 YPG (8th)
29 TDs (12th)
97.8 rating (11th)

2019

247.6 YPG (8th)
25 TDs (16th)
88.2 rating (17th)

2020

180.6 YPG (30th)
12 TDs (31st)
81.1 rating (27th)

2021

226.9 YPG (14th)
24 TDs (15th)
95.5 rating (12th)

2022

207.5 YPG (23rd)
12 TDs (30th)
86.6 rating (20th)

They've had a mediocre passing offense with the GOAT at QB, a bottom 5 offense with Cam & now another bottom 1/3 passing offense with Mac in his 2nd year. Forcing an offensive coaching staff change isn't enough - Bill shouldn't have personnel control over the offense. They haven't had a #1 option in the passing game that DCs have to gameplan against since Gronk in 2017.
We've touched on this recently and it absolutely has to happen. We've always had Gronk/Moss (top 1-3 at their position) and Wes/Jules (top slot targets) along with some nice pieces to fill in the puzzle.

Tackle nor WR isn't top heavy in either draft/FA so a trade might be the way to go.

Idk but again we just touched on this. We need a true #1 option and tackle help in the worst way. We need both.

Whose fault is this? Are you saying Jonnu isn't trying? Are you saying he doesn't get the playbook? Give some more details.

I'm not gonna be dragged into any debate in who's fault it is. All that matters is he's useless.

I'm sick of watching WRs for other teams (including bad ones) who can effortlessly toe tap for TDs and win jump balls down the side lines time and again. These aren't highlight reel plays any more, if you can't do these things you shouldn't get drafted to play WR.

Fair enough. Was genuinely interested in what you think has gone wrong. Maybe it could still be fixed. Clearly you just think he's a stiff, period.

Yeah, but Jones dont have an OL, WRs, TEs, QB coach, O Coordinator.

Still way better than your pal Mac « I can’t play QB but I can whine » Jones.
