You're killing me with that signature, BTW. LOL, this is a Pats forum. I know this year has been ugly, but celebrating Mahomes here feels a little bizarre. I mean, you do you, but I miss the days of watching the Edelman play that @Kontradiction once had in his signature. Watching Mahomes throw to Hill obviously isn't even close to being in the same ballpark, at least not on this board.
Bro no way he has that jizz stain Hill as his sig? WTF

THere's nothing wrong in admiring perhaps the most talented QB in NFL history. And I'm pretty sure that Edelman catch from SB 51 was in my signature, not another poster's.

  • Ugh
Reactions: Ian
The offensive line is beyond terrible, with both tackles obviously being a glaring issue and Brown being the biggest disappointment. I mean, I posted a still where both tackles were on the ground in 1.25 seconds, and that still wasn't enough for people to be reasonable.
This is where a scrambling QB can be a huge advantage. Guys like Lamar, Hurts and Allen can still make big plays when the o-line breaks down. Mac crumbles to the ground or if he gets the pass off then it's usually not successful while pressured. At this point the Patriots would have been better off with Fields (had he still been available in the draft). I really like these more mobile / running quarterbacks in today's NFL. Hurts is having a brilliant season, both passing and running. Allen is the ultimate beast at quarterback if he can cut down on the turnovers a bit. Lamar isn't a Pats forum favorite but his skillset would definitely have us contending for the division right now. I know injuries have gotten Lamar a bit over the last two seasons but his injury this season happened on a play that could have happened to an exclusive pocket passer.

I know this year has been ugly,
Hoping we get on a roll Ian!!!! We're in the last playoff spot now playing piratic football this year, but good things are coming!!!!!! Keeping the faith!!! lol
This week has been great, no trolls and no trolling!!! Let's keep it going!!!! This game against LV will be tough, but if we win this week, we've got a good chance!!!!!!

The Philly-San Fran game would be an epic battle for the NFC Championship. If Jimmy G can play and San Fran doesn't lose any more games, who would you play at qb in that game?
Purdy would have to totally collapse for Shanahan to go back to Garoppolo at this point. Given the 49ers remaining schedule, that's not going to happen. Purdy also can run a little bit so that's an advantage over JG. I think we've seen enough of JG to know he's not a championship caliber quarterback. We'll see what Purdy can handle because that 49ers team is definitely good enough otherwise to easily get to the NFCCG. But like I said, I'll put my money on Hurts in that one. I think ultimately an AFC team is winning the Super Bowl.

How do you account for Mac's poor finish to the 2021 season? Unless you think 8 turnovers in 5 games is "helping the offense." Changing the offense and putting Patricia in charge of it was an extremely poor decision, which has had an obvious detrimental impact, but Mac hasn't played well since week 12 of last season (with McDaniels).

Mac's poor finish has been overstated. He was great against the Jags. He mostly good vs. the Dolphins (the INT was on him and it was magnified because it was a pick six, but after that he played like he did the first half of the season). He wasn't bad in the playoffs. He wasn't great, but he was ok especially since the Pats had to play keep up all game. And he was great the second half of the Indy game. He sucked in the second Bills game and the first half of the Colts game.

You take away that game and a half and his performance at the end of the year wasn't much different than the beginning of the year. In that game and a half, he had 0 TDs and 4 INTs. The rest of his final five games including the playoff game, he had 8 TDs and 3 picks.

If you take away the Jags game that you keep raving about (against a 3-14 team) then Mac finishes the season with an 0-4 record with 5 TDs and 7 INTs. See how that works?

Dre Greenlaw is a LB nobody talks about. Dude is getting paid this off season as a FA.

How ironic is would it be that the 49ers spent three first rounds picks on Trey Lance and their franchise QB ends up being the last pick in the draft? Purdy still has a lot to prove before he can be considered a franchise QB, but he is off to good start.
Unless they go far in the playoffs or even win the Super Bowl, Kyle will force Lance to be the starter again in training camp. Purdy will have to take it from him.
BTW, the 49ers could have stayed where they were rather than trading up and drafted Jones and I think Jones would have done just fine in this offense. Or they could have drafted Fields and he would have done fine too. I think the 49ers have developed an offense and a team that pretty much anyone other than Trey Lance (apparently) can succeed in.
Like the Pats picking Harry, the 9ers just picked the wrong guy with Lance.
Also, Garoppolo's free agency stock is going to plummet if Purdy continues to play well. Teams are going to think Jimmy G's success is a product of Shanahan's system and not his ability.
No. Jimmy's stock isn't that high anyways, but Kyle has a horrible record with QB's other than Jimmy which has been stated by the national media many times.

His stock has already plummeted because he got hurt for the gazillionth time. Teams won’t pay a guy who can’t stay healthy a lot of money, and he went from being in the driver’s seat to back to square one. His only shot is to get back in time for the playoffs and win it all but like others have said, he may not get that chance.

Let's take away the game and a half that I took away AND the Jags game then? You have 5 TDs and 3 INTs.

I never thought when the post-Brady era finally came there would be people actively rooting against a kid they'd eventually draft just one season later who is dealing with a terrible O-line and losing one of the best offensive coordinators in team history.

This is definitely a weird time.

I believe this is starting to illustrate the futility of this convoluted exercise.

People were on his side when he was playing well. I think scrutiny and reasonable criticism are fair. My frustration is with the construction of the team, now in particular with the coaching staff, and I do see a decline in Mac's play (things that he can control). The injury hurt him, not just because he missed time, but because it allowed for a decent look at Zappe, who right or wrong a lot of people think could be a better fit for this team. So perhaps some people are rooting more for Zappe than necessarily against Mac. But then again, you're talking to someone who would prefer a 46-year-old Brady over both of them for next season.

The exercise is futile because I showed that is a fallacy that Jones sucked the entire end of the season. The simple fact that removing one or one and a half games from his final five games can radically change his overall production shows that he didn't play at the same level good or bad for all five games as the anti-Mac crowd suggests. But at least we can agree on that.
