Mac: "I want to be coached harder"

Please don't remind us of those plays they burnt an image in my head and the nerve of Agholor acting like he was hurt.

You make excuses for Agholor, but don't give Mac any leeway for his situation?

I don't make excuses for Agholor he has not worked out and is officially stealing money imo.

Throwing the ball harder would be a good place to begin.
That's not going to happen. He is what he is. He's got a very limited ceiling and there was a reason Shanahan got cold feet and gave Trey Lance a second look. Need to get better talent around him like Tua and see what happens. Regardless of who the QB is, isn't that the goal anyways?

Our only hope is IF BB delegates his Drafting responsibilities.

He already did but now we just have to hope that he continues to do so

How can he have confidence with Agholor where he gave up on a route that could have been a TD against the Vikes and fumbled a ball earlier in the season which would have been a huge gainer in a critical situation. Thornton has dropped a few passes he should have caught. Bourne has been marginalized. Smith is Smith. He doesn't have a lot of options when his receivers are in coverage.
Four of his INTs were when he was targeting Parker.

The question is whether he isn't scanning the field or is the simplified offense not allowing him to scan the field. Last year he had no problem checking down. In fact, the Jones haters last year called him a Check Down Charlie (which at times he did check down too quickly). Now the knock on him (right or wrong) is he stares down receivers and doesn't check down all his progressions. What was the change? Was it Jones? Or was it the environment around him (coaching staff, o-line, etc.) or a mixture of both?
The simplified offense isn't allowing him to scan the field? Jesus, you sound ridiculous. You just continue to ignore the obvious limitations in Mac's play this season. Warner spoke about Mac not scanning the field. Mac himself has stated numerous times that he needs to work on his eyes on the field. He's been coached to do this. He's working on it. It's still not working. We've seen it all season long. You can continue to blame the coaches for Mac's poor play, but the rest of us that are watching him can see, he's not playing well. Period.

A player doesn't do a complete one 180 where all his strengths from one year becomes weaknesses the next without outside forces playing into it.
Sure they do. It happens all the time. It's called a sophomore slump. He's lost confidence. His issues may simply be mental.

LOL! I defend Mac vigorously because of the irrational hate. I don't love Mac. Don't even know if he will be the QB of the future. It is just my debating style to go in hard against people who I feel are making up reasons to hate someone I don't feel deserves the hate.
You're on the right track since Mac wants to be coached harder. Maybe try a little harder next time.

I watched that entire video the other night. The only issue with Warner's assessment was something that Mac pointed out when another reporter questioned him. His eyes go where the play takes him, which tells me that he's looking where he's being told to look. However, listening to Warner's comments also made me question the play design on some of the ones he highlighted because it was clear it was essentially the opposite of what he was suggesting and he criticized the spacing and design of quite a few of them.

And Warner said that simplifying the offense negatively affects how Jones processes information during a play. Or as Warner calls it - his superpower. The way cherry pick what Warner said is astonishing. But thanks for bringing up Warner because he agrees with me. Again here is what Warner said:

"One of the things I loved about Mac last year is that he's so good at processing information. Sometimes last year I thought he processed information too fast, meaning he got off certain reads too quickly because they hadn't developed," Warner told ESPN.com. "This year, I think they've kind of taken his superpower away because they've simplified everything."

Warner clearly stated that the simplified offense and said that the plays are hurting Jones' ability to process information. But hey, you'll ignore this quote again and continue to cherry pick Warner's quotes. Because that is what you do.

I mean Warner is guessing since he doesn't know what the play call is and he acknowledges that. But it's not just his video, I've seen others like Lazar, where on a particular play, he's looking one way but the open man is in the opposite direction. Like for example the play where he got flagged for intentional grounding. He looked to the right towards Parker, when the play was to free up HH to the left.

BTW, I haven't gone back to see what article you're quoting but if it was Reimer on WEEI, that wasn't a good job. He cherry picked the negative portions of that and went with it. Which is why I laid in bed the other night and watched the whole video to try and get some context into what Warner really said.

Warner clearly states in Mike Reiss' interview with Warner that the simplified offense takes away his ability to process information. That tells me at least that the play is designed for Jones to have a limited number of reads. I admit that I haven't had a chance to watch his video, but I have a feeling the anti-Mac crowd is taking it out of context.

Or it could be he looks where he feels comfortable to look (i.e., the target). He seems to lock in on Rham, Meyers and Parker.

With all due respect to Lazar, he doesn't know where it's supposed to go any more than Warner. He has an idea where it should have gone, but if it should have been to Henry, it makes you wonder why Mac's first read was to Parker. Unless you really believe Mac has completely lost it, which I find hard to believe.

Watch the video and get back to us.

No, because he's told by the coaches where to go, which he admitted in a previous interview.

Wait! Wait! Either you quote Warner as an expert of offenses or you don't. You cannot quote him when it is advantageous for you and then dismiss his comments when it goes against your argument.

Again, I haven't watched the video. So I haven't really commented on it other than suspecting you may be misquoting him. But he is clear in the Reiss piece that the offense is hindering Jones.

I did.

I can 100% confirm he said this in the video.

They are looking at the play design and how the D is set pre-snap to come to their conclusions. I'm not about to question these guys that do this for a living, but I agree they're giving an educated opinion.
