Patriots Pregame Thread Pre-game Thread: Jets @ Pats

Maybe I am missing something. The Pats play two Thursday night games in a row. They are the only team with two Thursday night games in 2022. The Bills and Rams both play twice on Thursday but the 1st game of the year is not considered a TNF game.

When do the other teams play 3 games in 11 days? Did you count the days? When do other teams play 3 games in 14 days? All teams play 2 games in 5 days or 3 games in 15 days. Only the Patriots play 3 games in 11 days.

That is 12 days, 30, 31,1 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 = 12, but I was wrong because the Pats play 3 games in 12 days too, not 11. Now everyone is confused. So everyone plays 3 games in 12 days, but the Pats and Bills are the only ones with double Thursdays. I missed the Bills earlier Thanksgiving day game.
 
Another annoying aspect of the schedule is that for the fifth season in a row, the Patriots’ opponent after the bye is also coming off their bye. I guess 2020 isn’t the schedule-makers’ fault because the Broncos game had to be moved due to Covid, but four of the last five is still ridiculous. Let the Pats have more rest than an opponent for once!

Turns out the back to back Thursday games are by design. It means that they have just one short week in the season, just like everybody else. The other teams (other than Bills and Patriots) playing on Thanksgiving do not have TNF games.
Pats also have 2 short weeks in a row:
MNF to Sunday, 6 days.
Sunday to Saturday, 6 days.

I believe the Pats had one of the fewest rest days vs their opponents this season.

I've noticed. On the local level, you have the holy trinity of Beddard, Perillo & Lazar all pushing the same narrative about Mac vs Zappe and blaming Patricia.

On the National level there's Orlovsky doing the same and now after seeing Saturday become a HC, wants to coach Mac, lol. Look at how he completely ignores the wide open receiver at the 20 in this analysis.



At the end of the day, it's a way to take a swipe at Bill since like you say, he's the one that set it up this way.

You don't think the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach is at least partly responsible for the awful offense and offensive line play? From what i have heard from Lazar he isn't hugely pro Mac in terms of thunking he is a great QB. He thinks he is better than Zappe and the best the Pats have right now and until you fix everything else that's wrong with the offense no one would succeed at QB right now for the Pats. i think that makes sense
 
There is a direct link between Andrews out of the lineup and Strange sucking.

There is also a direct link btw playing two top DTs over the last two games and Strange “sucking“.

Some people suggested he hit the rookie wall . well most vet guards in NFL hit the QWilliams, Buckner wall.

Getting Andrews back will no doubt help but any G will suffer vs QW, DFB.

If they played f.e. Atlanta or Houston nobody would notice the “sucking“ or possibly even Andrews absence.

The graders know zero context (missing pieces, game plan, assignments etc etc)

The mediots are paid to get hysterical week by week actually day by day.


and btw Bill's not the only one going Sun Tzu - everyone tries to exploit the weaker spot so naturally Strange is getting the tough stuff (esp being on the blind side) while Onwenu's stock is skyrocketing.

Overall Strange is having a solid rookie year as a starter and im sure he'll end up like that with a few bumps mostly caused by top competition.
And lets not forget how Onwenu suffered at LG last yr (w & wo Andrews) until Karras took over.


Strange still better than Zion Johnson. Let's hope Andrews return helps Strange get back on track, and he keeps improving as opposed to hitting the rookie wall.

I've been very vocal against decision to have Patricia/Judge as OC/OL/QB coaches. I'm sure it's had an effect, but when you watched Zappe play w/ same coaches, players, OL, etc. the results were remarkably different. I'm not buying this nonsense about different play calls for the two. Fact is, Mac just isn't playing well this season. It is what it is.

So if not for Meyers we would be in even deeper offensive soup. Now can patriots survive without Meyers with Mac at center . Probably not unless you get a true wr 1 for 20 million dollars . Can the pats afford it. Probably not. This would have been moot if Thornton developed or Bourne developed further. Unfortunately none of it happened .

I happen to be in minority but I believe bill will sign Meyers if aav is less than 12 million dollars.

Case in point: The Houston game last year. Yeah, that game ended up being closer than anyone expected, but it was the best game played by the OL to that point in the season, and they had something like 4 out of 5 starters out of the lineup. If that situation had come up against someone like Buffalo, it would have been pretty ugly. Opponent matters, for sure.

Meyers is holding his own against top WRs in the league. I'd give him $15M apy. He's all we got.

Do you let go your best wr when all other options stink..I would be okay for them to trade hunter Henry with some cap hit and overpay Meyers . We don't have a choice.

Well if Bourne and Tyquan comes alive in the Second half it would make his transition easy. I don't think BB is breaking the bank for any WR Meyers included. That said I would give Meyers $15Mill a year he has earned it.

Agree on Meyers at 15 MM, at 20 it becomes iffy imo. I'd rather see them go 15-20 on a tackle than 15-20 on Meyers. I could live with Parker, Bourne, Thornton a 5-10 MM free agent receiver and a receiver drafted in the first 4 rounds (as long as it meant they could allocate resources to fix the o-line)
 
I'm not worried about this game one bit. I'm firmly in the Jets nonbeliever camp. Their head coach is an idiot and their quarterback is a bum. Good luck with that combination. Jets are headed for a 3-5 finish at best which would put them at 9-8 and battling for the last wild card spot. Watching Zach Wilson in a playoff game would be comical.

The week 8 matchup pretty much came down to Wilson's incompetence. Mac just can't be terrible in this one and the Patriots should win comfortably... 22-13.
