Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

It's the bye week and no sign of Gronk. Sadly, any hope of a Gronk comeback has come and gone.

On the bright side, that Cade Otton kid is looking better and better. I think he'll be one of the top receiving TEs in the 2nd half of this season.
Otton already looks like an upgrade over Brate. I'd like to see both on the field in some red zone plays. But yes, Otton is a good 4th round draft pick. Unlike Bill's two 3rd rounders Asiasi and Keene. Heck, Otton is having a better season than Henry or Smith.

Julio Jones miraculously made it through a game. He has looked explosive in his limited opportunities.

Question: all things being equal, is a healthy 2022 Julio Jones just as good as a healthy 2020/21 Antonio Brown?
Julio only looks capable of limited flashes of what he once was. AB was still playing at a high level. Had he kept his sh*t together then he probably would have been their WR1 this season. He's characterologically flawed, incapable of stability, and he finally just completely trashed his NFL career. His apparent resentment of Brady is really bizarre.

Antonio Brown just released a text message from spring 2021 to make Brady look bad and because he’s incredibly stupid it actually makes Brady look good. Summing it up it’s basically “dude, you are really making a lot of bad choices and reverting back to being a mess. You gotta get your stuff together because this isn’t gonna end well.”
I love irony.

Does this look like a man checked out about wanting to win football games?

Didn't realize Florio was into crack.

No.

That scumbag was WR 1 even above Evans/Godwin when he would play. He got the most targets overall in the games he played.
Yeah, the fact he got more targets was under the radar. I agree that AB is better than Julio on a purely talent basis.

Next question, is a healthy Julio Jones better than Evans and Godwin. Hopefully they can answer the question by all staying healthy.

AB definitely better than Jones but still the connection with Brady wasn’t always smooth and a lot of miscommunications. AB was best in Pittsburgh playing that backyard style.
I thought it was pretty good but they didn't get to play together for long stretches, so it was hard to get a rhythm going on a consistent basis.

Instead of being down by the schoolyard on gameday, Julio needs to keep being present on the field.

He getting better every game but those clowns cut his playing time when Brate returned

I actually think his list is fair. Vikings just beat the Bills.

It looks like standings and strength of schedule is the biggest factor.

I mean, two weeks ago you were predicting that they’d never win a game again.
I'm not talking about the Bucs just the list in general. Yup I was wrong they stunk at the time. There's still a lot of they need to work on though.

I believe this is the Vegas model...screw the record and just go based on the team's actual strength. This seems more accurate. Yes, the Giants are closer to the 20th best team than the 4th best team. Vikings are closer to 8th than 1st. You can say it over and over again but luck truly does not carry over from week to week.

So I think it’s safe to say that Tua’s job in Miami is locked up going forward. He’s a borderline MVP candidate. So if Brady wants to keep playing after this season I am very confident that Miami is no only an option.

So maybe the Raiders. Carr is definitely out, that “run” is over. And Josh is getting fired I cannot see him staying. So...Brady and Sean Payton to Vegas?
I thought I heard something about Rome not being built in a day from Davis. That sounds like Josh may get more time than we think.

That looks interesting. Thanks.

The problem that I see with the regular rankings is that many of them favor the NFC teams by quite a bit overall, even though the NFC is barely ahead in the head-to-head games with 26 of 41 at home.

There's also no way that you'll see 6 of the bottom 8 teams from the NFC... ever.

The NFC division that's getting a giant reach around is the NFCE, who've benefitted the most by matching up with the AFCS this year.

The team I disagree with above is the Vikings. I think they're the real deal this year.

I think the fact that the (2-7) Raiders are 2 spots higher than the (7-2) Giants makes me question this ranking

Although it is at least more interesting than most rankings which pretty much list teams in order of record, with 1 or 2 moved up or down based on a recent big game

I looked at some of the rankings this week and some teams are all over the map. Detroit has rankings of 21st and 29th, Miami 4th or 5th on most but 13th on one, the Rams 20th and 29th and the Giants 4th and 12th. Huh?
