OT: Reich Fired

Irsay today after firing Reich and bringing in Saturday
Feel Better Season 3 GIF by NETFLIX

There will be others following him.

Looks like that could have been an Irsay decision to save $17m.
Colts fans at Gillette were calling for Foles who should have at least replaced Ehlinger to start the second half. Ehlinger was the worst quarterback I've ever seen but then I watched Malik Willis on Sunday night football.

I'd have to think he'd be on their GM candidates list when they fire the GM.

He has a great offensive mind. You'd have to think he's HC material, but yeah him as the GM would be interesting...

Baffling hire... Jeff Saturday? i guess he does boast a hc position on his cv... (checks again) high school hc on his resume...

Or not

as it stands today, they are drafting 14th... Wonder how much that position will improve over the next 8 games...

When you're Jim Irsay, you just

  1. Demand the coach get rid of Carson Wentz
  2. Force the team to scramble to find a replacement QB
  3. Demand the coach bench that replacement QB (Matt Ryan) in order to save money
  4. Fire the coach, effectively blaming him for your screw ups

Vrabel, and the Titans, must love having Irsay in that division. It makes their jobs so much easier.

I think it's quite sad how HC's are being hired these days. 20+ years ago, you had to work your way up the ladder and make a name for yourself as a OC/DC for a few years. Now people are being awarded a HC job for absolutely no reason.

The Colts bypass two former NFL head coaches already on staff — Gus Bradley, John Fox — and a rising head-coaching candidate in Bubba Ventrone, to name former center Jeff Saturday the interim coach.

That is a real sentence.

Yes, that's former Patriots ST assistant Raymond "Bubba" Ventrone.

It's actually real. This is very bizarre.
But hey he coached a High School team. I mean I get it he is HoF center, clearly knows and understands the game etc. But there is a reason most players don't retire and then take HC interviews the next day.

Irsay back off the wagon.

Reich is Irsay's scapegoat.
Rich tools are correct by virtue of their money. See Musk, Elon.

He was an OC and QB coach right?
I see where this is going...

I’d welcome him with open arms as the new Pats OC…
That didn't take long at all.

Reggie Wayne their next receivers coach and Edgerrin James their RB coach?
How come you didn't invite Fivehead to the party?

However, I think he's having too much fun and has enough money in the bank to not want to get his hands dirty in the ugly business of being an NFL coach or GM. He can just sit on the couch with his brother and yuck it up and make good coin doing so.

People are making fun of the Saturday hire, but he paid his dues working several weeks for a juvenile christian academy. It’s time. Great hire.
