Content Post Words on things I watched, read & heard II

This has an opening post with good commentary and information, which we definitely recommend reading.
I agree with the order of priority, with JonNo at #5 ahead of Parker, who should have ZERO targets, and Snaps, until further notice.

Better than last week, that's for sure... But they & the rest of the offense have to STOP committing penalties; they're simply not talented- or well-coached-enough to overcome 1st/15s.

Hard to believe in this day & age in the NFL, but almost everything about Mac looks worse than it did at this time last year, and that's all on the horrible, clownish coaching & play-calling he's being given.

The offense will improve only when the QB & play-calling improves, and when Bourne is given ALL of Parker's snaps.

Defense would be even better right now if Myles of Space Bryant wasn't on the team.

Dam I hope they can somehow beat the Murderer-Worshippers... I ****ing despise those maggots.
We’ll we hire two colossal failures of head coaches to run our offense. Two guys who have zero personalities who everyone else in the nfl hates. Of course players aren’t going to maximize their potential

Ideal thots & tings ...

Been harping on this since last year but this team has been desperately missing a true X that can get off press for several years now and might be contributing to why Bourne is being so little but I suspect it's very little if any. We don't have anyone that can consistently beat press. Bourne, Meyers and Agholor are all better (or actually need that free release) off the line. Parker hasn't made an impact yet and TT is hurt. I said all offseason I thought Agholor was better than what we saw but didn't have the targets. Meyers is Mac's most trusted target and is our 3rd down blanket. At some point that has to not just be addressed but fixed. This dates back to Brady and is like going on 4 years. Not trying to be negative but it's been and still is a problem.

We're going to be facing a lot of inside pressure today. Baltimore has some really good rushers in Houston, Oweh, Madubuike (really liked both Oweh & Mad dog coming out), Pierce and even Queen on delayed pressure. They'll definitely test us inside to get us moving but more to get Mac off his spot, moving/stopping those feet. Both teams will throw a lot of disguised pressure, stunts etc so and we've done a lot better job than Balty has. Their OL has been hit or miss since Jackson's MVP season and more Miss tbh. Bad snaps, guys not on the same page and now they have a rookie C. Who was one of my favorite prospects coming out but showing some growing pains.

Truthfully Balty hasn't done a good job disguising what they want to do on offense. They've got less creative and taken out a lot of designed stuff for 8. It's mostly, specifically high leverage situations where theyll call his #. Usually it's telegraphed heavy formations you can see coming. Nice to see DD come along I was a big fan of his as well. He's been money out of trips running fades and just winning vertically the last two years. Bateman has been excellent and one of the better WR in the league. Even though Jackson has improved throwing vertically he's still one of the better MOF passes in the league. Clogging the MOF, second level looks will be key today with Mac and Lamar. They both thrive off that area.

It'll be very interesting bc Bill used something he hasn't really trotted out since. We did a good job taking the MOF away and the stacked the edges for contain and sideline speed. Lots of communication, rotation and second level looks and attacks from OLB/Saf. Very interesting to see what we do today.

A bit too early for such a declaration, but they do look damn good.

I was thinking this last week. Yes it is early but some good stuff here. Devante Smith had a ball yesterday

Yeah I gotta admit, the Fecals' roster is Stacked, at every position group, on both sides of the LOS... Goes to show what can happen when your team has a QB on a rookie contract and your FO never stops trying to improve the team...

Idk where to begin. I mean let's just start with the fact that this team struggles to score points! We're moving the ball quite nicely but we're sta-rug-aling putting up points. I get the Matty P hate. He's a fat **** that looked like a douche in Detroit but play calling isn't the issue if we're being objective here. Sure some of his plays are dumb but look around the NFL. It's actually not that bad. Besides that one sequence albeit in the red zone. It wasn't the problem today. We used Rham outside and in the MOF like I've been begging. We ran 4x1 with motion. Few RPO. We have the makings of a decent offense but the dumb stuff is absolutely killing us. We just can't afford it anymore. That said we still have to get more exotic and use more variations late in the game bc the Ravens were recognizing and ready for some stuff late in the game.

Wynn has been getting drive killing penalties for half a season dating back to this year. Guys it's the Ravens secondary for crying out loud!! You can abuse them but they'll fight for TO until the game ends its their MO!! Just dumb mistakes over and over for years now. This is now longer the disciplined, mentally tough team we've become accustomed to seeing. This isn't a few games, it's who we've become and it has to stop. Coaches didn't stop preaching that stuff. This team needs players that will fight you in the locker room if you keep picking up the same flags and sadly I'm not sure who those guys are anyone. I could name 15-20 former players that would throw hands if you weren't "doing your job" back in the day. I'm struggling to name 3 on today's team. Sorry just being honest.

That said the offense looked pretty decent yesterday for certain chunks.

Mac has been pushing the ball down field more and with confidence but some of balls are dead ducks. We're seeing multiple TO worthy plays a game with no TD's. What's he at 2/5 rn? Yes it's early but it's not like he's playing great and having **** luck. Post snap is and has been a issue. Post snap decision making and processing has been bad dating back to last year. The good was very good. Mac had some very pretty throws - an out, over and corner routes that were money. Nice velocity and touch but we need more of that all the time. Also loved his toughness and moxy. He was outplayed at the QB spot but he brought some real intensity and again was tough as **** yesterday. We didn't get the W but we actually looked good in other areas we haven't before like showing a little fight.

I'll ask this question and I'll admit it's a bit unfair but life in general especially in the NFL ain't fair. How many games has Mac been truly great in? Again only like 20 games in but have we seen spectacular? Real greatness? We've seen steady, highs of top 15 but I don't think we've seen real greatness yet? Bc as unfair as it is that exactly what you need from that position.

Speaking of things not looking familiar our secondary tackling has become hit or miss. With a guy like Jackson you'd think we'd be more hit but it was brutal yesterday

Spoke about the TE situation in the GDT and basically both guys suck so bad as run blockers you can't have then on the field at the same time. Henry has been a huge disappointment. After KB he was our best weapon last year. LJH is taking snaps away from Smith. Just not what you want from a group you paid all that money too. Smith can pass block and isn't terrible in some run blocking situations but we don't have a true inline guy after millions spent.

Andrews and Strange have been hit or miss when it comes to picking up pressure. Andrews has always had his problems but this it's exaggerated next to Strange. Both will look for work and move off their spot a little to easy and neither really looks out at the second level for delayed stuff and trust. Combined with Wynn's problems this OL has a long way to go.

We definitely misses Dugger out there. Definitely could have uses his speed and lateral movements. Not to mention his hitting and open field tackling.

It's all about Mac and his health. I'm stuck in work any updates??

This is spot on and perfectly describes what happened on the play where Mac Jones got hurt.

I thought the same thing, but you put it into words.

Some good insight there @BaconGrundleCandy. On reflection I don't think we were too bad yesterday. Take away the dumb plays and we had a legit chance to win that game. I'm still on the Mac train as for me there is still too much upside. Agree about Wynn and penalties, time and again it's him drawing the flag. Annoying to watch a TE stud like Andrews making catches all over the field and we can barely find a TE with a pass. Just don't feel we're making the most of what we have at the moment.

Yeah it's been more about talent & execution than play-calling in particular, though in certain situations - 3rd down, red zone - that needs to improve too... But improvement in many ways comes with experience, and Phatt Matt & Judge Joey have None upon which to fall back.

As I wrote in another thread, Wynn obviously has things on his mind other than the task at hand... Unfortunately as you noted, there's no longer anyone here with the juice to b!tch-slap this lazy ****ing turd... And that includes our longest-tenured players, a couple of whom were among our Worst players yesterday...

One of the reason's why a smart kid like Corky is having post-snap difficulties is because he's had it easy his entire football life - I mean look at that Alabama team he had in front of him - and he's never had to actually work at that stuff... Combine that with his barely-average size, arm & athleticism, and this is what we're stuck with.

Agreed.

Yep... Strange69 regressed yesterday, but that's to be expected when somebody more worthy of the #85 overall pick is taken at #29 overall.

Uncle Dugg still couldn't cover you or me, but at least he's a solid tackler... And since when did our resident loudmouth 8-figure Safety start playing like a ****ing puzzie? This MUST be his last season - if not his last 5/6 games - in Foxborough.

It sucks bc we've become that team. We used go into games knowing we had that stuff correct. Cadence at the line, hand gestures when it's noisy. No killer flags. We the case we were always the more menrally tough team that thrived off beating teams on the details. It's just been an issue for a while now.
I'm still on the Mac train as for me there is still too much upside.
We have to hope and pray bc it's Bill's last best chance winning in NE
Agree about Wynn and penalties, time and again it's him drawing the flag.
I love Wynn but this is a major issue.
Annoying to watch a TE stud like Andrews making catches all over the field and we can barely find a TE with a pass. Just don't feel we're making the most of what we have at the moment.
Idk what but something is up with Henry. Mistakes, nonexistent. TE is another problem that deserves it's own thread. Luckily for us there's a bunch of good ones coming out.

The rookie class showed up big time today. The Jones bros were as advertised and made huge impacts in different phases of the game. Marcus and Zappe might have been my favorite picks from us and all three delivered. Marcus is a real game changer back there. Excellent field vision and awareness. Smooth movements and COD. Jack is feisty and has made a few really nice plays so far this year. His attitude is infectious and you can tell his teammates love him. Not sure what you can say about Zappe. He had like two bone headed plays but actually looked good considering the circumstances. We lost up were up against. We found out about a few guys though and that's what the start Zappe crowd was saying all along. You at least want to know what you have. Now that you do its clear he should be QB2 whether Hoyer is healthy or not.

Wynn has become a real problem. Every game it's killer flags or a sack directly on him. It happens but it's become an every game issue now.

I thought we'd get abused in the slot and actually it could have been worse if Rodgers didn't have one of his worst games ever.

Refs weren't great but gifted us 6 and weren't exactly wearing green & gold PJ'S.

OT play calling should have been better. Fat Matt hasn't been terrible this year but certain situations he's really blown it. This was one of them.

Judon is still a game wrecker but was washed on the edge a few times. That's not changing it seems but he's the one consistent along that line. Barmore and Wise have flashed as well but Judon's ability to rush inside/outside is something unique unfortunately. That group needs another player. Nice corp but needs help.

I love Myles Bryant but he's been getting picked on in big spots too often. Fine player in a pinch but we shouldn't holding our breath with him every high leverage play.

Our best runs have come from duo imo. Doubles inside, power from Onwenu and Wynn. Both those guys are probably our best run blockers and they get to work together during those. We used #'s to our advantage in both the passing and running game today. Offense looked good despite not looking good when you factor in we started Hoyer and Zappe had no time to prepare.

No moral victories but we seemingly found out a lot about Zappe, Jones bros and the team showed more fight this week than in recent memory. Certainly this year.

I do not love Myles Bryant - I have no idea why he is playing. I assume BB is waiting for Marcus Jones to take over for Myles in the 2nd half of the season. Jack Jones looked good, so what happens when Mills is back? Marcus in the slot, Jack and Jon on the outside, and we have a decent secondary. Maybe Mills can help out DMac?

Need a guy to work opposite Bentley (McMillan and Wilson have disappointed, but Tavai actually tackled a RB on a pass play today :)), a DMac replacement (Mills?), and someone opposite Judon. Not that far away.

We have options if Mills can stay on the field. Potentially we could keep Jon Jones in the slot where hes a force if Jack keeps up his play. He was beat a few times over the last few weeks and the ball didnt go his way but he's shown capable of the moment and i wouldnt pull back just yet.

I know what you mean about MB but Bryant is an overachiever. He shouldn't be playing the snaps he is, in the situations he's in though. That's the real problem. I'm a huge Marcus fan though.

DMac is Patriots royalty but his time is coming to an end quickly.
