Game Day Thread Official Post Game Thread- Ravens beat the Pats

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

Yup. Seriously imagine how much better we'd be right now if BB had drafted Lamar Jackson instead of Sony Michel. Not giving up on Mac yet since we don't have any better options, but those injuries early in the season aren't helping him any in year 2. This OL is not protecting him as well as we'd like. Yup playcalling was bad, turnovers were bad, offense just couldn't keep up in the critical moments.
Had Bill drafted Lamar, but no RB who was competent, the Pats don’t win the Super Bowl in 2018. Would you trade that for Lamar Jackson? Also, he wouldn’t have played until year 3. In addition, do they tailor the offense around his skill set? If so and he was successful, do they pay what he is currently commanding over $230M guaranteed?

Mac and the coaching being the weak link is the worst case scenario
I don't understand.

What aspects of the team do you believe are weaker compared to other teams. I think that our weakest areas are QB and offensive coaching.

Are you say that we only have weaknesses in a worst case scenario. All teams have weaknesses. What bothers me is that management CHOSE to have a relative weakness in coaching.

Let's also look at how badly you have to suck and for how long to accumulate all that top end talent:

In the 10 years before their SB win, the Rams picked at these spots in the 1st round 2: 1st, 14th, 14th, 8th, 2nd, 13th, 10th, 1st. They picked at the top of the 1st round every year. You better accumulate a lot of talent if you're going to pick that high from all the losing.

I hope the Patriots never have that happen to them.
Since McVay has been HC, Rams have never selected a player in the 1st round. He has a .679 regular season record & a .700 playoff record w/ Goff & Stafford as QBs. Did I mention he's only 36.

Oy vey.

We're talking about the talent they collected. Aaron Donald, their star, for instance. Goff as well.

They were super lucky to play the most inept Super Bowl team in decades. Worse than the Panthers.

The idea that we don't win the SB without Sony is so far out there it's in. We ran almost 20 different runs in the SB alone. That was bc of how good the OL was playing at the time not a RB2. Thuney could have got the MVP that game in part bc of his run blocking. Sony wasn't exactly "creating" yards for himself. He ran behind a OL that turn it up. He was a variable in that situation. Like if you're being objective he might have been the 7th best player on offense. He played his part and was good but RB is the easiest position to replace and we've actually done a very good job of finding them in FA/Draft. So it's not like we couldn't find someone to replace Sony lol. I mean how about his teammate Chubb?

That's about Gruden's age. Gruden won only one.
Gruden walking into Tony Dungy's team that had one of the best Ds in the NFL, won the SB and then did squat.

McVay walked into a team with 10 straight years of losing records and immediately turned it into a winning franchise with an average QB. Apples and oranges.

Not sure why it's so hard for you to give credit where its due. It's ok, that won't take away from the 20 years of success by the Pats under Brady & Bill.

Totally agree. Sony was good but many RBs would have been good with how that line was playing. Hell, Rex Burkhead played great that playoffs.

I mean allowing 188 rushing yards and 5-5 in the red zone isn't great.
I did not see the game live but I thought the defence had some good plays in the first half. However seeing these stats this morning puts a different perspective on the whole defence. Not great.

Into the second half and the game could still have been won but in simple terms we beat ourselves. Not then end of the world but lots to do.

It is a bit delusional thinking our DBs can stop some passes when they are based on Mills and Bryant as our CBs.
Speaking of Bryant. He just cannot be a PR with his shaky hands. Bryant, Dugger, Jack Jones - who else is going to be a PR? It is like a lottery a bit. Testing every time a different player will not build a confidence in any of them.

I thought Marcus Jones was a good college PR and was drafted with the idea to make the PR

Because I think he was thoroughly depantsed by BB, and because last year was a fluke. The Bengals!! That team was horrible but had high picks year after year. He's doing nothing special. You'll see. As for Gruden he was doing decently with the Raiders before moving to Tampa

He was backpedaling and threw that ball while falling backward off his back heels.

I'll say this again since it needs to be repeated: Mac's decisions are bad. To say he's losing zip when he decides to throw off his back heel while back pedaling is besides the point.
I know, he's been making that decision all year. But sure what's up, but the reigns have come off and he's not really taking advantage.

Also, the red zone offense is putrid. 3 games and only 1 RZ passing TD. That's atrocious.

Idk. The Rams sold out for one ring. We’ll see.

Reviewing the offensive and defensive snaps against the Ravens:

I would ask you if he thought there was somebody better, absolutely....but I don't see a Vince Lombardi out there or anyone else that is in his stratosphere.
I’d say he needs to be told to get help from coaches while he oversees the entire operation, interjecting when and where needed. He needs an OC and a DC, like he had when he was winning SBs at a younger age. He’s the GOAT, but what BB is doing now is nuts.
