TB12 Not Practicing on Wednesdays for the Season

Brady on the main board is such a beautiful thing.

Never mind, the thread got moved here.

In that case, didn't Mac miss practice Wednesday?

3 years now I've seen a good number of people pontificate on how Brady fans can't move on from him and for 3 years I've seen pretty regularly some people with the need to find something less than flattering to outright hate for him to whine about. Who needs to move on again? I think if the Pats were flying high now most of that negativity would disappear. I guess Its easier to find a villain to hate than to face a reality that's uncomfortable. This has been a public service announcement.

What did Ray Lewis do again?

People are welcome to like Brady if they please. I don't want to see people bemoaning him being gone plastered all over the forum 3 years after the fact. That's not cool. Those looking for reasons to disparage Brady also aren't cool. The negativity wouldn't disappear if the Pats were flying high. Some of the voices may quiet, but others of the anti-BB crowd would become loud.

Personally, I find Brady is treated quite well at PatsFans. I can count on one hand the number of genuine Brady haters who post here, and they're very clearly ostracized and alienated in their positions. OTOH, there is a non-insignificant crowd who has legitimate disdain towards BB and/or believes he is not a good football coach. BB certainly catches much more flak on -all- parts of this forum than Brady ever has, both in terms of scope and extent.

I think it's about the same number of people of both sides of the more extreme coin doing it. BB or any coach will get upticks of criticism in a slump. Add in the "what's different now" ingredients then its inescapable that Brady and BILL are the elephants in the room. Yeah that's unfair for anyone to use that for 100 percent or most of the blame but its just as unfair for BB "defenders", unsolicited to bring up every negative thing they can just to belittle and troll Brady fans in a forum they insisted on to wall of any Brady talk. Just look at the treads started in that forum by some of them.

The Bucs would probably let Brady just show up on Sunday morning tbh.

Eh I don’t think any criticism of BB as a coach here is that different than what other fans say about their teams coach. It’s what fans do.

Most of the criticism here that I’ve seen is at Bills GM moves lately and how he set up his staff.

Per Bowles, receiver Chris Godwin doesn’t practice on Thursdays, and receiver Mike Evans and linebacker Lavonte David don’t practice on Fridays.

“It’s not just [Brady],” Bowles said. “We have designated days off after games.”

So Brady will have a maintenance day. And Godwin will have one. And David and Evans will have one.

Other players on other teams have them. Some periodically, some regularly.

So it's a non-story.

Weekly in-season practices hereby are suspended for all veteran Bucs players with marital difficulties, children at home or living elsewhere and a birthday in the next calendar year. Nothing to see here. It's a non-story.
So aside from the sarcasm, what do you think about veterans having a regular day off in-season?

I think it's a terrible idea, especially for the quarterback/team leader/face of the franchise. Players routinely get Tuesdays off, often Mondays as well. And when they ARE required to be there on Monday it's usually for low-key stuff like conditioning, physical therapy, positional group meetings, etc. -- not to be on the practice field. A guy like Brady can have his load eased by taking fewer practice reps, that would be understandable. But for him to not be in the facility doesn't help the team or the idea his being "all-in" to do whatever is needed to win another title. Football is the ultimate team game; when guys are allowed to go their separate ways -- however justified it might seem -- it has an impact.

So far Brady taking Wednesdays off is showing on Sunday...

So the laugh's on Tommy's Trolls, but then it always has been.

I wonder if this is an original idea or is it something other teams do also?

First of all, the original announcement was Brady taking Wednesdays off and qualified only LATER that he'll still be in the building just not on the practice field. This was followed by another announcement of other veteran players getting additional days off practice during the week. How they actually plan to accomplish full-team game plan installation on a weekly basis hasn't been addressed and is anyone's guess. This approach is unheard of.
