It was obvious what the team’s best formation was last season with Meyers, Bourne, Agholor & Henry. It’s the same this season. Mac’s passer rating on the season is 83.2. It’s 100.2 to everyone besides Parker so far.
That's what made some of us so big on Bourne for this year. Last season Mac's rating when throwing to him was ridiculously awesome and (I think) no one else came close. It wasn't in huge volume, but it wasn't a small sample either. The evidence was there... I know the team looks at more stuff than just stats but man, that looked like such a slam dunk conclusion, it's baffling how it's played out so far.

Somebody please retire number 1 . Harry was wearing it and now Parker ..

1 symbolizes the first person to vanish off the field ... Parker was magical and elusive today... Nobody could find him . Not Even the QB ...
Has not won a 50/50 ball yet this season. Someone said you throw a ball his way its an 80/ 20 ball. Yeah.

There's no parsing it, the coaches have to do a better job whipping this offense into shape and Mac has to play better.

Offensively if it's not missed blocking assignments last week it's penalties and more missed opportunities this one.

Mac is throwing some ill advised balls, especially on the run. He needs to stop, plant and throw.

And his deep balls leave something to be desired. And no, before someone says "weak arm," these aren't 50 yard throws we're talking about. It's the deep ball to Parker in the end zone last week that got intercepted, it's the deep ball that Agholor made a terrific play on yesterday.

Mac has to step into those throws and make his WR's go get it. I

Mac has to step into those throws and make his WR's go get it, instead of doing that he's throwing a 50/50 ball that his WR's have to slow down to make an attempt on. Parker and Agholor run 4.4 forties, they don't, and shouldn't have to slow down with real estate behind them. Mac should throw to points on the field, the back corner last week and in front of the end zone this week with Agholor. He needs to know better when to throw with finesse and when to throw with force. There's never a bad time to throw with fundamentals. He needs to stop being so finesse and keep making good pre snap adjustments. As bad as the offense has been, it hasn't been because of poor blocking, running or receiving.

Groceries = talent. Bottom line to me. Bill baught all vegan, need some meat added. Spent alot of money on non organic talent. Stats matter.

Well Parker's 54 snaps enabled Mac to target Meyers 13 times Parker is doing his job in a quiet way.

A little off topic: I listened to Toucher and Rich this morning.

Holy cow, the idiocy. They don't even know former Patriot players and they say the most idiotic things. I don't live in Boston, I picked up the broadcast on my Google Home device.

If this is what Boston fans get to hear regularly, I guess it's no surprise that a portion of the fanbase is totally deranged.

Local Boston sports media is mostly an Idiocracy.

Steelers fans have never been known for their intelligence. Ditto for Raiders fans.

Right. Ive always tried to keep an open mind in the sense that maybe theyre just like other fan bases, but they seem worse to me because i live here and have to deal with it more than any other. But good Lord they are blind AF

Belichick was asked this morning about the lack of play-action. His answer was that there isn't much of an advantage to play-action against a heavy blitz/man coverage defense.

I was wondering about that but do we have QB in Mac now who can consistently execute that?? The next two weeks should be interesting.

Was listening to Tom Curran and Phil Perry talk a bit earlier. Curran made an interesting point:

- Last week, the Steelers defense blew up Joe Burrow and the Bengals: 7 sacks, 4 INTs, 1 fumble
- Comparatively, the Patriots had no sacks and only 1 INT against those same Steelers this week
- Last week, the Patriots defense allowed only 13 points to the Miami Dolphins offense
- Comparatively, the Baltimore Ravens allowed 42 points to those same Dolphins this week

Obviously, any-given-Sunday and all that, but perhaps the Patriots OL is better than we give them credit for, and the Patriots defense is better than we give them credit for.

Post-game on 98.5 Bedard claimed that Strange wasn’t matched up vs. Heyward for most of the snaps, when the host said that Strange seemed to more that hold his own. Couldn’t bring himself to just compliment him without any caveats, because he spent the entire offseason saying that he wasn’t strong enough to hold up against the big boys and that he looks more like a tight end.

Cole Strange dominated yesterday.
Bedard is a joke

Regarding the Defense we'll see against running Lamar and the MVP Rodgers. So for now I'm going to temper my expectations.

So far yes the line has been a major relief. If healthy They will allow this offense to be great if we establish ourselves.

They even had some nice success on some zone runs to seal the game which was very pleasant to see. You can find some sweet highlights of Cole Strange holding up 1-on-1 against Cam Heyward...

Might be time in his development process to go from spending all his cognitive energy on pre-snap setup and transition to a bit more pre-snap forecasting (running through in his head, before the snap, how the play is likely to unfold post-snap). He seems use all of the play-clock to get the offense setup as best as possible, but I wonder how much time he's using to think about the sequence of events likely to unfold post-snap. That's fine, though, he looks really advanced mentally for a 2nd year QB. It'll come with time and the game will continue to slow down for him.
I agree with you here, it feels a lot like Mac is out there directing the offense frequently and may not have a lot of time to actually think for himself. As the other players get more comfortable, he will have more time and things will flow better.

These are where stats can be misleading: Bentley and Myles are 2 and 3 and I think everyone knows they aren't the best in the coverage department.

Yeah as shaky as our offense was that game, that drive was really amazing. Drained the clock from over 6 minutes to go iirc. One can only hope its the kind of tone setting drive for an offense that needed to turn things around. Once a line develops that mindset its game on!
