Just remember that this is week one. Weird **** can happen on any given Sunday, and week one is almost always an any given Sunday sort of week. Already this week, the Texans forced a tie against the Colts, and the Bears beat the 49ers.

So we should acknowledge that the Patriots got slapped around today, while not yet panicking about games moving forward. As for where the win might come from, we can start by looking at next week, as the Steelers likely lost their best player for the season.
I hear, you, and I'll admit it might just have been an overreaction on my part. I hate losing to Miami as they aren't that good. We seem to always make Tua look like the second coming of Marino. The only thing worse would be losing to the Jets. I am hoping for the best going forward, but it's hard to be anything put pessimistic right now. But as you say, we're on to Pittsburgh.

Heres the bottom line.

Jones is not a QB who can push the ball down field. Attack and have the defense back on their heels. His game is check downs and underneath passing yards. With Mac youre doomed if you cant run the ball and play good defense.

Thursday night you saw Josh Allen take over the game in the 2nd half.
Josh Allen has a weak arm though. When he throws, the ball leaves the screen:

Well that was pathetic.

I predicted a 24-13 loss for the Pats before the game.

They only managed to score 7 points at Miami. This offense is incompetent. The lack of an OC is showing.

We're starting at 0-1. How bad does it get before it gets better?

I posted that they'd go 1-3 in the first four games, this is the game i thought they might win.

That has nothing to do with whether it was a rainbow. It was. Your basing you high velocity based on what. The Tim it took on TV to leave Mack’s had until Bourne caught it. Show you math. Yes Allen throws rainbows on deep balls too So what? Look at the angle of the ball when it leaves Mack’s had and when it drops int Bourne’s hand. It was nothing like a rope. It doesn’t mean Jones has a weak arm and doesn’t show he has a strong arm.

exactly why I picked the Phins in our preseason Picks Contest. Pats fans just refuse to SEE the historical pattern of futility stretching back to the 70's in Miami...anywhere in Miami. What makes THIS game so hard to stomach is the Pats allowing a complete shytbag like Tua to move the ball all afternoon. Now this week, all the braggart boasting and chest thumping will come from these same fans as they use the injury to TJ Watt as their rallying cry. The truth is we are walking into a buzzsaw in Pittsbrugh. Trubisky will feast on our secondary. I took Miami today...I'm taking Pitt next week.
The pattern in Miami is pretty much all of the weird **** that happened today. Always happens in Miami, especially when the Miami game is early in the year.

I hated the strange pick, it made no sense, the whole trading of a pro bowl guard in mason to turn around and take an obscure guard as his replacement was absurd when the team needed a LBr, cb, or d-lineman after they couldn't stop anybody at the end of last season. Its the kind of move detroit, the browns of old, or even dare i say the jete would make. Today was the first time ive spent any time on here since the draft.
Mason was never a pro bowl guard.

A pair of teams with questionable offensive lines that are learning under new coaching/.systems, and played like it. It's week one. The Giants just beat the Titans.

The question to be answered is going to be about improvement, and rapid improvement. Next week isn't a must win game, but it sort of seems like one when you look at the remaining schedule.

Denial is no longer just a river in Africa.
Bill forgot to add two failed head coaches on offense who shouldn't be in their roles in his list of what really skewed this game.

They started 1-3 last year and turned it around. Historically, they tend to start slow in September, especially in Miami, so let's give them time. I think learning the new offense may have made it more challenging too. I am curious to see how they do after 8 - 10 games. That should give a better barometer for this season.

Well.....

The Pats should have had at least a field goal on the first drive but there was CLEAR defensive PI that turned into an INT, which Miami turned into 3 points. That's a 6-point swing right there, minimum. And the stupid, godawful play at the end of the first half that turned zero points into 7 for Miami. So that's 13 points right there.

And the Pats lost by..... 13.

First downs: NE 17, Mia 18
Total yards: NE 271, Mia 307
Yds per play: NE 5.0, Mia 5.2

I mean, Bill isn't wrong. Though the two big plays he's talking about are probably the TD and then the strip sack.

Did you expect Trent Brown to be whistling Zippitty-doo-da as he lets his QB get drilled? I was shocked how poorly Brown played.

Bourne needs to be on the field for every offensive play
Yeah its disturbing that our best receiver from last year is in the doghouse. It'd better not be because of bad chemistry with Patricia or Judge.

BB really needs to turn this around quickly. If it turns out he was was wrong about Patricia and Judge his reputation is definitely on the line. I'd hate to think the end of his career might be ruined by cronyism and nepotism. Still plenty of time, but Mac getting hurt could be a killer.
