They've used it in the past, but not exclusively like they were/are trying to do (supposedly). And the O-line isn't built for it. They are better as a gap/power team. The Pats have used zone blocking schemes in the past. Are you saying they can't do that again?
Agree thereI don't think they've gone all in on a new scheme, and we won't see much zone blocking unless they start practicing it better.
This would be a leap imo. That’s asking a lot of this group. That era had totally different personnel then this group from a skill set POV. This team is missing a HOF caliber slot receiver, a HOF TE and a HOF QB, other than that, I know you will make the Jonnu and Hernandez comparison, but id say thats a leap as wellThey can run a similar scheme from last year with new verbiage and be just fine, they were fine in the preseason. The offense should look like those 2010-2012 offenses with Hernandez.
They have run these concepts for many years. It isn’t rocket science. Anything done on a football field can be seen on film.Yes, it will backfire.
Imagine teaching people about something you don't have any experience with?
How can anything be clear before playing a single game?Clearly something isn't working. They've used it in the past, but not exclusively like they were/are trying to do (supposedly). And the O-line isn't built for it. They are better as a gap/power team.
I was all for the change, but you need to have the right teachers and players if you want to run it effectively.
Yeah this offense is not going to look like it did when hernandez was here, mainly because the talent here is not what it was then. If all it took was a scheme then the worst offense in football could run a scheme and be great, you have to have the players to make anything work, if you dont, it wont.I don't think they've gone all in on a new scheme, and we won't see much zone blocking unless they start practicing it better.

It's the totality of installing the new offensive language. Running the zone blocking and getting everyone in the same page. Exclusively means every running play based on the zone concept. The Patriots have not (and haven't even hinted at) run zone concepts exclusively.not exclusively
Exclusively? Never. But they zone blocked a lot in the early SB years when Andruzzi, Koppen, Neal were on the OL.Exclusively means every running play based on the zone concept. The Patriots have not (and haven't even hinted at) run zone concepts exclusively.
Edelman said he went to practice and didn’t recognize much, and wasn’t familiar with concepts they were running. If “they” is the league, then sure…but not them. They have run these concepts for many years. It isn’t rocket science. Anything done on a football field can be seen on film.
Watch the games.Edelman said he went to practice and didn’t recognize much, and wasn’t familiar with concepts they were running. If “they” is the league, then sure…but not them.
Tell that to JulianWatch the games.
Don’t need to, I have eyes.Tell that to Julian
Not sure what that has to do with a receiver who was here for over a decade saying he doesnt recognize many of the concepts theyre practicingDon’t need to, I have eyes.
Here is his actual commentNot sure what that has to do with a receiver who was here for over a decade saying he doesnt recognize many of the concepts theyre practicing
No, heres his actual quote "I went to a practice recently, the joint practice with (Las Vegas) and New England, and I saw a lot of concepts that I didn't really recognize. So it looks potentially like they could be trying to trickle in some of this West Coast Flair"Here is his actual comment
A lot of them are very vanilla, which is very procedural with preseason, they want to throw vanilla stuff out there and see mano-y-mano can the kid get open, can he make the catch. Let’s not try to scheme anything up. Those are things I’ve never seen, and it’s going to be interesting.”
No game planning, trickle in, yada yadaNo, heres his actual quote "I went to a practice recently, the joint practice with (Las Vegas) and New England, and I saw a lot of concepts that I didn't really recognize. You and I never disagreed that the offense will mainly be the same...I said the difference this year was the streamlining of the verbiage and simplifying, which hasnt happened before (New coaches) and that they're adding in a new scheme, which they havent done in at least this decade. Thats two things that arent done every season. Nothing I have said has been wrong, you keep spinning it to say its the same as every year, except all the players are telling you its different, along with everybody who has watched practice. No game planning, trickle in, yada yada
As I have been telling you for months, the offense will be the same it has been for 20 years with the typical variations they make every season. You se to want to die on that hill a few days before the proof is on film. I guess it’s your last chance.
