Jones has vastly superior talent over Brady? Say what?

I think the poster is referring to Cant Newton...or maybe to the talent surrounding them...

The 2018 defense could stop the run, 2021 defense couldn't.

Are you sure you're comparing them with the 2018 team - or 2020? If the latter then I would agree with all your points.

Probably the 2020 team...

EDIT: Maybe he wasn't; I read his response after I posted here... Yeah he needs to put down the pipe...

Asiasi claimed by CIN. Looks like that's all for claims of our players.

All the fear that players were going to be claimed, and the one player who was, few would consider a candidate or care.

All the young players we want will be around, and now the team can add veterans they want to the practice squad for a deeper team.

So all of our players except Asiasi made it through waivers. Who do I hope gets brought back to the practice squad?
Ray
Russey
Nixon
Lil’Jordan
Harris
McGrone

We know Ferentz will be here, if not on the 53 itself within a day or so….

I haven’t even noticed hines in preseason to be honest… anyone have a quick scouting report / overview of his performance?

And so appears nixon and humphrey are still unclaimed. Perhaps one is brought onto the 53 when thornton goes on ir

Meanwhile, 11 waived Jets players are picked up. What does that say about our roster building?

It says the Jets have no clue how to evaluate their own players, that they keep the ones no one else is interested in, and cut the good ones.

I certainly don't agree that the team was a fraud at 9-4 because it later collapsed vs Buffalo. That's just masochistic.
Only a few are saying they were frauds.

What is true IMO is they were a decent team that was clearly outclassed when a) they did not play up to the ability/talent level and b) were not as good as the upper-tier teams in the conference.

There is nothing wrong saying the 2021 NEP were not a contender for a Super Bowl.

The phrase “The Pats didn’t claim anyone” is misleading, we don’t actually know how many waiver claims the Pats submitted, could be ten, could be none.

The correct wording should be “The Patriots were not awarded any waiver claims”.

But he mentioned NE being better at QB than a super bowl winning team from 2018, so...

1) He's saying 2021 Mac > 2018 Brady
2) He's freakin' nuts (and that's no knock on Mac)

Hard to believe they were in contention at one point for the top seed. I felt - at the time - that you never know, if they get into the mix they could surprise some people. It's just crazy how they fell apart at the end and just couldn't pull it together. Hopefully, they finish a little stronger this time around. I know people are skeptical, but I'm relatively optimistic defensively and I do believe they'll be better on offense, especially when Thornton eventually gets back next month.

Obviously, posting alternative concerns, and perspectives is fine. I think some of us got a little too wrapped up in a lot of the criticism we saw early in the preseason already writing off the season, which is frustrating. There's no issue with people venting as long as it's done in a constructive way, which as long as that's the case, I don't have an issue with it.

For the people who post "they suck" in every post, those would be the ones I would ask to try and be a little more thoughtful. There's not a whole else to watch in the fall and it's probably safe to say this season is going to be a little rocky but it doesn't change the fact the rest of us are going to try and at least follow along and enjoy whatever good things ultimately come from it. But I would still encourage people to provide honest takes - good or bad - as long as it's things that the rest of us can either provide reasonable discussion about.
I've also said this multiple times, it's still fine to root for and keep an eye on Brady while still being a fan of this team. I fall into that category. The guy brought us 20+ years of great football and I certainly wish him well and I'll root for him if he's in the mix in January and we're not. At the same time, head-to-head, I hope we beat them by 40+, but it doesn't need to be as black and white as some people make it out to be. You can still be a Patriots fan and hope Brady does well. It doesn't necessarily need to be one or the other.
Good reading for your Mod.

I'm not impressed with the Buffalo Bills. 2021 was the best chance they will have at a SB for the foreseeable future, and they squandered it. They only finished ahead of us by 1 game, and were eliminated in the Divisional round. Josh Allen had one good season (in 2020.) He was atrocious for most of last season. His three best games of the season came against a beat up Patriots defense in week 15, a practice squad defense in the wildcard round, and the 2nd half of the divisional round. He sucked balls in the 1st half against KC's bottom 5 defense, and only started putting up numbers once their defenders started dropping like flies in the 2nd half. Unfortunately for him, it was too late. What a coincidence that he played his best ball against 3rd and 4th stringers.
Did you watch the week 16 and wild card matchup between the Patriots and Buffalo? Buffalo didn't punt once in either game. They scored on 13 of 14 drives (including 11 TDs) that didn't come at the end of a half. They scored 80 points. Allen had 8 TDs and 0 INTs. Jones had 2 TDs and 4 INTs. They absolutely blew our doors off the hinges. They got even better in the offseason. Allen is among the best quarterbacks in the league and he will be an MVP candidate this season. Yet you're "not impressed" with Allen or the Bills. And you think the Patriots are so damn good that "no other team in the entire NFL will challenge them." You have skipped way past an optimistic outlook and gone straight to fantasy land.

That's correct.
Speaking of... so according to you Mac Jones has vastly superior talent to Tom Brady. Your takes are putting even MAC10 to shame.

I wasn't pleased with the QB performance in 2018. Way too erratic. One game it would look like we had Peyton Manning. The next two games would look like we had Tua Tagovaiola. And so on.

Luckily, the running game and defense came on strong in the postseason.

They did that against a compromised defense. Again, I am not impressed.

Well, Mac Jones is the only QB in franchise history who has made both the Pro Bowl and postseason in his rookie year. That's not a knock on any of our other QBs, but many of them weren't even good enough to start in their rookie season.

Mac Jones is a phenom with immense talent. His peers respect him so much that they've voted him the 85th best player in the league after just his rookie season.

The facts are what they are.

It's not just New England that saw little movement like this, either. It makes me wonder how much the expanded practice squad rosters are impacting player movement versus how much individual team talent depth was thought to be good/bad...

Haven't we seen enough to know by now that it wasn't TB12's fault? He wasn't "in decline". Maybe he was getting disgruntled, but the inconsistent offensive execution was not due to him losing it.

I'm not in the Tampa fan brigade by any means, but come on.

Hell I was saying they were going deep in the playoffs and pot'l to go to the Super Bowl. Then injuries started to pile up, Mac started to sputter and the D collapsed. It happens.

I could have been worse. Look at BAL last year. Start 8-3.....finish 8-9. Talk about a collapse.
