Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

You haven't posted in the main board in forever.
The Patriots are in wait-and-see mode. I'll post when we see what we have, get a feel for where we're going, etc. Now? I'll just watch and wait.

Bucs schedule got mildly easier.

Yeah, he’s a nice addition for Philly. Outside of the quarterback, they have a pretty loaded team.

Of course Brady is better than Rodgers. Of course the Patriots have done better with Brady and a lot worse without him.

My main point in this Tom Brady forum is that as much as I like Brady and am so thankful we had him for the time we did, he is gone now. Do I root for him to win though? I'd rather see him win than lose I suppose. Do I watch nationally televised Bucs games? Not always, but often now because of Brady. But, I'm sure you'll agree, that it's nowhere near the same. I feel good when Brady wins kinda but it doesn't serve us as Pats fans. The bottom line: It was great while it lasted but it's over. Time to move on and concentrate on what we have in Foxborough and hope for the best. Sure we can look back just like I look back at Orr or Bird, but I can't hang on to Brady anymore. I suppose there's a place for this Tom Brady Forum, but then again I'm not sure it isn't better to just move on as Pats fans and think of Brady in the past.

My 2 cents.
It definitely is not the same watching him win with the Bucs as with the Pats. It is a shame as so many of us on this thread wanted to see him finish a Patriot but Bill somehow thought the guy didn't have anymore championship football and all he has done is put up 2 of the best seasons of his career at ages 43/44.

Whatever happened happened. There's no point in playing the blame game.

He's the CB that snatches chains right ? Lol

They let Tyler Johnson go too maybe the Pats can take a look at him

I’d like to. There’s a good amount to work with there. I wanted the Pats to grab him in 2020. Kid was a beast at Minnesota.

Bucs defense keeps playing relatively well against the Saints. But Brady has been absolutely flummoxed by their defense so them trading one of their best cover DBs is nice.

Bucs are waiving offensive lineman John Molchon, who would be the team's third center right now. Good shot he's back on practice squad. @AaronWilson_NFL had it first.

Another move for Bucs, as they're waiving undrafted rookie corner Don Gardner, who had a nice interception in preseason. He's expected back on practice squad.

Bucs are putting corner and special-teams ace Rashard Robinson on injured reserve, likely working out an injury settlement. With rookies McMichael and Gardner waived, that leaves Dee Delaney as the fifth cornerback if the Bucs carry one.

Bucs have waived rookie tight end J.J. Howland, who had a 46-yard catch in Saturday's preseason finale. Yale grad could be back on the practice squad as part of a young group of tight ends.

Bucs have also waived running back Patrick Laird, who joined the team mid-camp and got a ton of work in second half Saturday. Could be back on practice squad after clearing waivers.

Bucs are also cutting undrafted rookie receiver Deven Thompkins, who had impressed in preseason. They'd like him back on practice squad. This bodes well for Scotty Miller's chances to stick on 53. @PewterReport had the cut first.

Bucs are waiving undrafted rookie receiver Kaylon Geiger as well, so all three rookie WRs missing the cut. Another candidate to return on practice squad.

Bucs are waiving undrafted rookie linebacker J.J. Russell, who impressed in camp out of Memphis. They'd like him back on practice squad. Bucs now have made 15 moves, 12 still to go.

Bucs like the three undrafted rookie receivers, they're just gambling that they'll go through waivers unclaimed and be able to return on the practice squad. Was thinking this when they didn't throw much to any of them the last two preseason games.

Bunch of Bucs cuts to report: K Jose Borregales, OT Dylan Cook, S Nolan Turner, DLs Mike Greene, Benning Potoa'e and Will Previlon, OLBs Elijah Ponder and Jordan Young waived. QB Ryan Griffin, DT Deadrin Senat, OLB Genard Avery released.

So the initial 53 isn't the final 53, but we're within a move or two of Bucs making their cuts. CB Dee Delaney is sticking as ninth DB, Brandon Walton and Fred Johnson both make it as 8th/9th OLs. Rookie TE Ko Kieft makes the cut as fourth tight end.

Bucs have traded LB Grant Stuard and a seventh round pick in 2023 to the Colts for their sixth round pick in 2023.

Of today's Bucs cuts, OLB Elijah Ponder will be waived-injured, so he'll have to work out an injury settlement that would delay any return on practice squad.

My understanding is Bucs are now keeping four running backs in Fournette, White, Vaughn and Bernard.

So barring surprises, the Bucs will carry seven receivers on the initial 53, all veterans -- Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Julio Jones, Russell Gage, Jaelon Darden, Breshad Perriman and Scotty Miller. Rookies could add depth on practice squad if they make it through waivers.

Just to go over NFL practice squad salaries again -- rookies are set at $11,500/week, which works out to $207,000 over a full season. Veterans have a range, between $15,400 and $19,900 per week, which translates to between $277,200 and $358,200 for a full season.

Ryan Griffin will be in the same boat as last year -- working as Bucs' fourth QB on the practice squad. Top three on 53 are set in Brady, Gabbert, Trask, but Griffin is part of that QB room and will continue for what is his eighth season with Tampa Bay, most ever for a QB here.

Jose Borregales lost the Bucs' kicking competition to veteran Ryan Succop, so now just a matter of whether he's claimed by an NFL team still trying to find a starter, or whether he can return to Bucs' practice squad where he spent last season.

So it looks like inside linebacker Olakunle Fatukasi is the lone undrafted rookie to make the Bucs' initial 53. Others, like safety Nolan Turner and the receivers, will be priorities for practice squad if they're not claimed.

By the book, Bucs will carry 10 offensive linemen tonight on the initial 53 -- Smith, Goedeke, Hainsey, Mason, Wirfs, Wells, Leverett, Walton, Johnson and Jensen. Jensen can go on IR tomorrow, opening a spot on 53 at another position. Could also sign a guy cut elsewhere.
