Patriots Training Camp - Tuesday August 2

Trent Brown and David Andrews just need to stay healthy the two most important players on this current OL: the rest should be interchangeable.
Nah, they need to stay healthy everywhere. No team is so deep that injuries won’t effect them.

I like the Pats depth behind the starters, but the starting 5 is really talented. Keep them all upright and in the game and they can play against any front.

Luck in football = health

The 7v7 succes has to eventually translate to 11v11.
The offensive scheme changes affect the OL more than anyone, and they’re the missing ones in the 7v7s. So I think the disparity in 7v7 and 11vs11 is likely the impact of them practicing the new scheme. I don’t ever remember such a disparity in results before.

Like I said before there is nothing like the joint practices against other Teams I'll judge em then.

Speaking of Chung is he still in legal trouble?

Asiasi is one of the people competing for the newly vacated FB position on the roster (meaning, now that they're not using a traditional FB, an additional RB, TE, or WR can be kept).

We kept Asiasi on the 53 last year, so I think he is competing to keep his existing spot, not the FB position. Keene, or another, who was not on the 53 would be competing for the new open spot on the 53?

Has absolutely nothing to do with a special teams "consultant" and a defensive "consultant" coaching an offense for the first time.

Patricia started off on the offensive side of the ball helping Dante.

Are there some growing pains for him? Most definitely. There is also growing pains for the offensive players since they are learning a new outside zone system.

No notes on Josh Bledsoe or Cam McGrone today. Don't know if that is good or bad.

Good to hear about Perkins.

Uche may have finally put things together, though it's still early.

With Barmore making such a giant leap, it will be interesting to see how he does against opposing teams, particularly against the run. If he and Godchaux can solidify the center of the line, it will really help the LBs.

The longer James White is on the PUP, the more likely it is that Montgomery makes the team...
Sucks that Strong is still not ready.

Anyone have news on Kevin Harris?

Their hasn't been much said about McGrone at all since camp started. However McMillan has flashed a bit and I think they have a similar skillset...which is good.

Agree about Perkins and Uche

Made my annual pilgrimage today, I was impressed sat high up on the bleachers and there was a nice breeze.
Mac Jones, and despite what sportstalk radio wants us to believe, he does not have "popeye arms"
The WR group is impressive at TC, most are tall, they are completely different than the "smurfs" we watched in the past.
Ty Montgomery was used as a RB often, that might prove interesting
Tyquan Thornton is super quick
Mac Jones seemed to have had not a great day, not sure if it was a routes issue or he was just off. Bailey Zappe looked better than I expected particularly for a rookie who has only had 6 practices.
Cole Strange is a big man, but his play was not obvious
Christian Barmore is a big quick powerful man and a force that needs to be reckoned with
JJ. Taylor and Damien Harris looked good
Nice to see Troy and Jerrod coaching, they have been here a while.. but their roles are more visible.
Bill, as reported, was in the thick of things quite a bit, particularly on Offense
It was a long practice 2 hours..
IT was great to be there, fairly crowded.

Thanks man

Even with the scheme change, I was expecting the offense to be better than the Defense.

Man, these games cant come soon enough

I don't really know what to do with the Agholor hype because he looked good last summer too. He never really looked bad at any point here, he just never really got targeted as much as we hoped he would.

McDaniels ran a very interesting conservative Offense last year due to Mac being a Rookie. I watch some of Agholor's tape and he was open many times deep and not Targeted. It's obvious Mac doesn't have an elite throwing arm but its not a noodle arm either I expect a more aggressive Offense this time around Targeting the entire Field. Agholor is a better WR than Meyers he can consistently threaten the intermediate to deep parts of the Football field. Agholor looked like a world beater with Derek Carr thus the Patriots contract. I want that Agholor below in 2022.

I think part of that was Mac was keeping things close in front of him. He didn't look past 20 yards a lot. I feel this year will be different, he'll look at the film and see his missed opportunities. Which there were a lot, even though we had more 20+ yard plays than the Chiefs.

It comes down to him getting that internal clock right and the line protecting him. Which I think he didn't fo a great job staying in his protection early on, so that probably made him feel like he needed to get the ball out quicker than necessary
