Here’s my guess. Impressive size, speed, YAC, blocking. Talked a good game in the interview.

Either he never got the system or just didn’t want to play. Or both.

I think Belichick and the draft room was infatuated with his size and missed on his ability to grasp the read and react system, and his ability to get separation. The difference that separated Harry from successful receivers was getting separation from defenders in the right place and time. Agholor struggled with the same thing last season.

Even before I had given up on him based upon his on-field performance, his Instagram posts had me worried. They screamed “This f*cking guy doesn’t get it”. Most of his posts involved material possessions. Seemed to be living the life of a veteran with a “set for life” contract, not a late first round pick on his rookie contract who is struggling to stay on the field and can’t remember the correct formation on a consistent basis. I hope that his advisors convinced him to save some of his money.

Best pick is Edelman in the 7th round because of the tremendous value there. Gronk as a dominant hall of fame TE is the second best pick. Givens as a 7th round pick comes in third (finished out his time in NE with TD receptions in 7 consecutive playoff games).

N'Keal Harry is the worst. Chad Jackson is second worst. Third worst goes to the dual TE 3rd round selections of Devin Asiasi and Dalton Keene (took a big swing and missed x2 at a major position of need).

Nobody else noticed Ben Watson wasn't listed as a 1st rounder. He gets a B with Graham getting a B-. And as others pointed out, Thornton wasn't a 1st rounder.

Gronk was a questionable pick with his back injuries, but turned out to be Bill's best pick which kick started Dynasty #2. It's not even open for debate.

Mitchell gets a C+ for what he did his rookie year and showed he could play, but injuries took over. He was also a 4th rounder.

Hernandez was easily an A for his play on the field. Giving him the "D" grade that's one grade higher than guys who never played is bizarre.

David Thomas gets an F. I like him coming out of Texas though.

I'd say Jordan Richards is probably the worst BB pick. Drafted 5 rounds too early. For real.

Dowling is a close second.

I like laughing at the Harry pick now but I don't think there were a lot of takes at the time that it would be a spectacular failure of a pick.

Richards is absolutely up there. No business being picked that earlier. Brace was another one.

JJ Williams is slowly, very slowly coming up the ranks though.

Harry was drafted right where most seemed to predict he would be, late 1st/early second. The problem is so were AJ Brown and Deebo Samuel who both seemed to be better fits for the offense even without hindsight.

Any player can have a catch, or a game. That's not flashing. That's the law of averages. But even in his "best" game (v. Seattle), when he had 8 receptions, he only averaged 9 yards per catch and didn't have a touchdown.

Zo has screamed multiple times about the fact Harry seems not to know what he is doing pre-snap. I know Zo has mentioned Harry has trouble knowing where to line up, if he is on the line of scrimmage, and when he is supposed to go in motion. He may be slow, unable to get open, and have questionable hands but to still not know the most basic fundamentals of the play at this point in his career is inexcusable.

Could be. I think it was definitely the worst outcome compared to what could have been… though I can’t recall too many experts criticize the pick when it was made. I don’t remember the Easley pick getting good reviews when it was made then injuries did him in.

If you look at all of them after Sey in 01 it's he and Easley no question.

Easley was a medical issue and risky pick. We all knew it as did BB. It was his 'tude and availability that got him a tix out of town. When he played did did OK. You can't really say that about N'Krap with any consistency. He just plain ole sucked and was MIA 90% of the time here.

The 7th rounder in two years will be a nice little bonus when it arrives, but the main comp in this deal is the immediate $1m in cap space. If we had cut him, which was certain to happen, we wouldn't get that cap relief. So we made the most of the situation we were in.

He was the kind of guy that needed good injury luck his rookie year to succeed, and he didn't have that. Once he was sidelined and Brady forgot who he was, it was all downhill from there. That blown call vs KC didn't help either. He also took several egregious head shots. It wouldn't surprise me if his luck turns and he's still be in the league 4-5 years from now.

I don't think he'll make much of an impact anywhere else personally. I think he coasted on his physical talent tbh and he doesn't put the work in.
