1. You have never seen Strange play a single game. Not one. Nevertheless, you know definitively what his ceiling is? You can say it 2 million times and you will be still talking out of your arse in each instance. STFU.

2. You have no idea what the Pats internal assessments of Mason’s 2021 play was. It is very possible that they saw a drop-off that the layman or a reporter would not. BB’s track record in terms of knowing when to move on from veterans is stellar. They also control Strange’s rights for 5 years at a lower cost and at a younger age vs. Mason for a max of 2 years. STFU.

3. You actually wrote “The way the league is set up you have to build through the draft” after the Rams made headlines winning the SB while doing the opposite of that. LOL. STFU.

4. Regarding your ill-informed cap space criticisms:

Wait for it…..STFU.

We already are well aware that you aren’t intelligent and know very little. You don’t have to keep giving us examples of that. We got it.

Strange could turn out to be the next John Hannah and that still isn’t going to cause Buffalo to punt!

Am I the only one who watched those two beat downs and thinks that trading out JC For a retired Butler is going to make any difference? They had no answer for Buffalo couldn’t even make them punt, and BB answer is draft a Guard in the first round after trading a perfectly good one away for peanuts!

Stop with the insults, and try to convince me that Strange playing guard will equal more wins than Mason playing guard.

JC didn't even control the 1 thing he could, so he doesn't even matter.
Diggs can't wait to play him again so he can pull his pants down.

I don’t think comparing strange playing to Mason is accurate.

I think it is onwenu vs Mason. Both appear to be right guards. Until we see onwenu in action at right guard I do not think we can answer that.

However, I do think that strange could be compared to karras. Both appear to be left guards. I thought karras was barely average at best last season. So strange has a fairly low bar to get over.

Now in truth, karras was signed to play center, but then andrews resigned and karras wound up at left guard. So if we really want to judge apples to apples, then strange should be compared to thuney! suddenly the bar for strange just got a whole lot higher!

People said Thuney was a Reach....
Thought of as a 5.50/Undrafted, which is BELOW a PS Player.
How many people thought Neal was going to be any good?
If he doesn't get hurt, we probably win 2 more big games.

Moving on....

Yep when Neal got hurt against the Giants in 2007 it was up the middle jailbreak time

I honestly felt THAT was the turning point in that game, I was yelling it to my brother who was over the house...
No contain at ALL after he went down.
There was another game that was the same(AFCG? , I CAN'T REMEMBER), he went down, and the pass rush just crushed TFB.
HE was UNDRAFTED.
Bill HAS a clue, regardless of what the idiots say, I tire of the idiocy, most just want to tear him down like he's new to the game.
How's Owenu worked out? How many teams passed on him 87 times?

Bill has been good at OL and DL drafting. Recently the RBs have been good. TEs have been OK. LBs are OK. His CB and WR drafts have not been great. I am very hopeful for Thornton, M Jones, J Jones, and P Strong - Strange will be good so there is no need to be hopeful. The 2022 draft picks are outside the normal Pats profiles so maybe we will "hit it big" two years in a row (3 or 4 starters). Jack Jones getting a lot of reps in OTAs is encouraging. Lots of '20, '21, and '22 draft and FA selections will be playing this year so it will be interesting to see if we are rebuilding well. During a rebuild all of the "experts" get the predictions wrong - see Bengals last year.

The chatter about Miami is typical in the off-season when a few high profile FAs are signed. The biggest bump in performance is always from 2nd and 3rd year players.

I just posted in another thread what the MeDIOTS thought about JCJ, the same guy people here are WHINING about...Bill knows what the deal is, he doesn't always guess right, but he's pretty good at it.
He definitely understands LEVERAGE, I'm not worried 1 bit about Strange, I think he'll be getting a BIG contract after his 5 years here, which BTFW is a big deal, that 5th year on rookie contract is big for the team.
JCJ was rated a "C" prior to the draft, but Bill brought him in...he knows NOTHING!
Take a look at the draft profiles of the guys we've drafted, and compare against the God JCJ....
Have fun.

Thanks

If the Pats go back to a 4-3 as rumored, it's only a matter of time Flowers comes back for a prove it deal. Hicks would be a nice addition as well to pair with Barmore at DT.
The Pats have been using a modified version of the 4-3 for several years now. Last year we say them using 2DT, 2 EDGE, 2, LB, 5 DB (with Dugger being the 5th DB) for many of their reps. They lined up in a 4-3 Over many times.

"With Belichick’s 3-4 “Okie” front as the base, the Pats’ big-bodies on the defensive line (Guy, Godchaux, Barmore, and Davis) and the edge force (Judon, Van Noy, Phillips, Dugger) allow the second-level to stay clean to come downhill at the line of scrimmage.

"Belichick does run an odd front but opts instead for his “Base” front (what you may hear called the “Okie” front in other football parlance), with two defensive tackles outside of the tackles and a nose tackle.

What New England wants to do with that is hide the “rotation” of the safeties (which one is rolling down) and the “reduction” of the front (which outside linebacker is rushing, and which defensive tackle is slanting down inside of the offensive tackle)."

"With more speed and less size at the second level, the Pats might also move away from a two-gapping odd front to more even fronts this season (4-3)."

When they play the 4-3 Over front:

"The Patriots typically play an over front when they put four defensive linemen on the field, which presents a role as a penetrating three-technique for second-year stud Christian Barmore and as a designated pass-rusher for Pro Bowler Matthew Judon (in a stand-up role)."

"Defensively, the Patriots have shifted in recent years to playing more of a 3-4 type of defense than 4-3, but predominantly played “Nickel” (five defensive backs) with a 2-4 or 3-3 look up front. We’ll see if that changes, now that the Patriots seem to have better talent and depth in the front-seven than the secondary. It has long made sense for the defensive backs to be the true engine of the defense, but the personnel at Belichick’s disposal in 2021 may force some kind of evolution."

When they were short on LB in 2020, they played mostly a sub defense:

That 4-2-5 look — which was oftentimes a 2-4-5 with four down-linemen — could therefore easily be manipulated into a 4-3-3 with Chung as the third off-the-ball linebacker. This role was still present on the 2020 Patriots in the form of Adrian Phillips, but the problem was that the other “normal” linebacker spots were oftentimes not properly manned.

I think that we have used a base with 5 db's for several years. In 2021, we often defended with six dbs.

We continue to discuss the Defensive Front Seven. Our base is a Defensive Fron Six. Our nickel is a starter on Defense, whether he is a slot corner or a safety.

Things have really slowed down in FAcy. Expect more action this week.

But the way this team is built for youth I don’t know if he would of been a target.
If I’m not mistaken the elder defenders are Guy, Butler, Mccourty.

Dude only had 3.5 sacks last year and is far removed from being the 7-8 sack guy that he was in Chicago. 10 million for a 32 year old with only $12 million remaining cap space? Sounds like Suh and JPP aren't coming back. Besides Barrett, where is Tampa's pass rush going to come from? They are relying on some guy named Joe Tryon Sholonka who is a second year player and Hall who is a rookie.

That front 7 overall still looks solid...Hicks signing could backfire though he hasn't been healthy the past 3 seasons.

Many here wanted Hicks signed but whatever.
