Report: Odell to NE talks heating up?

Odell Parker and Bourne with Metchie coming via the draft trading Agholar.
Agholor isn't going anywhere. All you guys pining for him to be traded are setting yourself up for disappointment. According to sporttrac, his contract is ranked #27.

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-england-patriots/nelson-agholor-16744/

Without doing a complete analysis of his statistics and his contract, I feel he's paid about right based on market conditions. He's a middle of the road guy who hit the FA market at the right time. We can get into the minutia of if the Pats overpaid him based on the market of last year, whether or not they outbid for the guy and whatnot. He's a meh guy IMO. Parker is going to be a bit better than meh, great upside but can't stay healthy, and Parker makes Agholor better as long as both are healthy.

What's really going to piss off people is if Agholor has a better year and gets a raise.

Patriots Wire/USA Today

"Agholor is a totally different receiver than Parker. But they do line up in the same place in the offense: on the outside. Parker took just 13% of his 2021 snaps in the slot. Agholor took just 9%. The more they put both players on the field, the more they’re likely to remove Jakobi Meyers and Kendrick Bourne — the most product pass-catchers in 2021. So it’s likely the Patriots deploy a rotation of outside receivers with Parker, Agholor and Bourne (who took 36.4% of his snaps in the slot and 62.5% outside).

That’s not even factoring in tight ends Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith, who are among the highest-paid players at the position. The Patriots are going to want them on the field often in 2022.

And if the Patriots want to continue to build their team around Mac Jones, they need to bank on better players than Agholor — and Parker for that matter."

I would love nothing more than for Nelson to put it all together.
I just don’t see BB being happy about that contract.

It is difficult to put into words how little I care about this nobody’s opinion.

“I love story telling.” Lol.

“Henry, when did you start enjoying cocaine more than sunlight?”

OBJ ship sailed many years ago.

I see...

...what you did there.

Great info Cousin,
O.K. for those who are amused by the breakfast cuisine I mention. It's not Saturday but great breakfast today. Lox, sliced thin and creme cheese with tomatoes, red onions and capers on a pumpernickel bagle, lightly heated for flavor release. Plus coffee with mint nocha flavor and mild pulp OJ.

I actually see a scenario where both Agholor and Harry are not in the 2022 WR room.

I mentioned these additions before. They make too much sense.

We have actually "0" slot receivers now. Yes Bourne and Meyers had some plays there but they are really "X" guys. Our "Z" is usually a quicker than fast , "Get-The-Third-Down type" like Troy Brown, Welker, Edelman and Amendola. These guys rarely ran "Go" routes.

In the DW Toys Trade-A-Rama world, of which #15 is on the way....don't shake your fist, Agholor had his best year with the Raiders. He was trusted by Carr. He had almost 900 yards and 8TDs. That did not translate here. Agholor opposite Adams might be pretty sporty for the fresh new contracted Carr. Now you have Renfro and Waller........
Interesting fact. with all the Trades this year, Carr and Rodgers have the top QB in longevity with one Team.
So.....what do we get back? DE Clelin Ferrell.

He was Drafted in the first Round as a "pass rusher" by Mayock. He actually was a round peg in square hole. He was better as an edge setter and against the run. But they recently started using him inside a bit and under the radar it worked well even though he was stuck in a rotation. Think the best year of Trey Flowers.

BB has stated that Pressures are as valuable as sacks and lead to turnovers. Well in 2020 Ferrell had 20 pressures and last year in a rotation, had 15. He is stuck in that rotation. One of our main problems last year, especially down the stretch was lack of setting the edge. Ferrell does that well. Ferrell is your new DL help so we don't have to waste a Draft pick. He is fairly inexpensive and the Raiders have been trying to move him since last year. Watch his tape against us. The Raiders loved Agholor but could not keep him. This solves two purposed venue issues. Ferrell can play inside our outside on the D Line. He adds speed and can be a chess piece here. Agholor is moved to better tune our WR core.Swap...done deal.

Alright. Replace Agholor with someone better or at the least more potential and better yet.......cheaper.

Three in my opinion make sense. #1 is Laviska Shenault of the Jags who is reportedly on the block with the new Jags purchase this off-season.
He "can be a do-it-all receiver. He even lined up at running back close to 20 times. Shenault’s twitch, vision and speed make him an ideal chess piece, able to move around based on best matchups and mismatches. According to Pro Football Focus, Shenault spent 28% of his snaps in 2020 in the slot, 69% out wide, and 1% inline. He has the wheels to play outside, the moves to work out of the slot, and the big body to bulldozer someone in the trenches if he needs to take a handoff and/or improvise his routes".
He had 63 receptions last year on a dysfunctional and bad Team. He is Deebo-esque I've mentioned. Can be had for a mid round pick.....perhaps the embarrassing 5th round Mason pick? 6'1" and about 227lbs. A 4.5 guy so not going to take off the top. Watch nim run over people. Makes 3rd down catches too. If we have to do that rocket speed from the slot, see my next two guys.

#2 would be Jalen Reagor. Even up, the "mistake change of scenery swap" for Harry and the Eagles like Tall WRs. Reagor is a speed merchant (old school talk) . He has been in the dog house in Philly (that too). They gently moved him to slot and he is still learning but did not impress as of yet. 4.22 speed pro day after a bad....bad? 4.47 combine number. 5'11" and 197lbs is his best weight. Check his TCU tape. He wasn't Hill but he was superb. Acrobat. Young and about the same as Harry in the pocketbook. ....Alas....Poopy Ist rounders get a new home

#3 would be Andy Isabella. Even for Harry. Make Isabella your slot guy day one. and keep feeding him till he gets it. 4.3 speed and 6.95 3 cone. .Most posters don't like him but he had numbers maybe even better than Harry's if you add K.O. returns. Isabella 426 yards and 3 TDs versus Harry 598 and 4 TDs. Isabella had a 63% catch ratio versus 55.3%.
Harry doesn't do STs but Isabella does......about 21 yards per K.O. return. What would BB think? Also Isabella is a little cheaper.

Sounds like the problem is the Patriots have too many pass catchers. Many of whom they are paying a bunch of money.

They would have been better off signing an elite WR instead of mediocre disappointments like Jonnu Smith and Agholor. And it wouldn't have cost them anymore, and they wouldn't have been wasting a player on the sidelines.

Let’s not forget Mac was a rookie and those 2 came to a new system.

I love the Agholor for Ferrell trade. Might make sense for the Raiders because Agholor works well with Carr.

Harry for Reagor - maybe. Harry for Isabella - no thanks, Isabella has been even a bigger disappointment than Harry. Shenault maybe as a gadget guy, but we do not need a slower bigger guy. Receptions while playing for the Jags, Jets, or other bottom of the barrel teams are not equivalent to receptions on a top team with top receivers. Someone has to catch the ball for the Jags and Jets in garbage time when the opponent is up big and playing prevent defense, and this inflates the reception numbers.

Would you want to trade for Ferrell or sign Flowers. I know you love trades, but what about the player comparison in your opinion?

The problem with that theory is that last offseason there really wasn't an elite WR to be had in FA. All of the guys who signed deals bigger than Agholor had worse seasons than him. We'd have been in the same place this year, only we'd be paying more for our disappointing WR1.

Hindsight is 20-20, but I expect that hindsight of the hindsight will change some opinions.

I would sign OBJ to a 4 year deal with a huge signing bonus and backload his contract so that we can fit him under our cap this year while he rehabs....by week 10-12 he'll be able to practice, IMO.

I’d offer Agholor and a 2023 2’nd for Renfrow.

Do the Rams even have cap space to re-sign Beckham? They've been on a spending spree this offseason. OTC has them at $7 million but I don't know if that's enough to sign all their draft picks (rounds 3-7).
Have you not been paying attention my man?! There’s ALWAYS money!! ALWAYS!

You should not want any part of Ferrell. He is awful. He is Harry on defense.

The Raiders are not trading Renfrow. Still hard to understand why Pats did not pick him.

I'm not sure that OBJ is worth a "huge" signing bonus.

I'd rather the contract be managed with a large option bonus early in the 2023 season.

1) There is no substance until a contract is signed.

2) All posters here have is speculation.

3) We are very likely to have talked to Odell's agents several times, as we likely did with every available WR.

4) You can ignore better odds, or you can consider them as the opinions of those willing to back up what they think with cash. They are interesting to some.

Some final Super Bowl odds interesting. Some say that these odds have no substance. After all, the opinions of posters that we are better than other teams should make all bettors irrelevant.
Speculation is next to godliness.
