Player Signing Report: Patriots Acquire DeVante Parker from Dolphins

I think it's more about roles in the offense. You can certainly argue that Agholor isn't as effective as he needs to be at his role (and I wouldn't necessarily disagree with you). But if you just stuck Meyers out there and told him to run the routes that Agholor does, you're not going to get better results, and in fact would probably get worse.
I rewatched quite a few games and Agholor was open allot last year, but Mac did not throw him the ball. Not at all implying Mac is not good, I would rather he stay within himself especially his rookie year. My issue with Agholor is his hands and because of that I will take Meyers.

One alternative is to accept the personal views of so many posters that we are a below average defense and a below average offense.

Stats aren't everything, but they are something.

Very personally, I think it is very, very strange to think that the number of points scored by a team doesn't matter, and that the number of points that a team gives up doesn't matter. I suppose that in this view either every game is 50% or the likelihood of winning is best projected by posters whose opinions are the best indicator, and who purposely ignore the stats of players and teams.

Yes I believe that as of today we are average/below-average on both offense and defense.

I also believe that some points matter more than others.

That 7-game winning streak, and thereby the statistics accumulated during it, was a Mirage. Period.

I really don't know how we this trade done. It's not much compensation, just a pick swap of about 1 round when you factor in the year. It was in the division, and it's hard to believe Miami couldn't have gotten at least this deal outside the division. Parker could come back to haunt them, plus it strengthens the Pats in a way they wouldn't have been able to do otherwise..

So, cut him and eat $10 million? I don't think that makes a lot of sense. Also, you can't compare a guy on the back end of his deal (who had a cap hit of 12+ last year as he finished up his guaranteed money) signed in 2019 and was acquired in a trade, to a FA you signed on a two-year deal in 2021.

Look at all the other contracts last year for WRs of the FA market for WRs in Agholor's class, and you'll see that his was far from the worst thus far. The other three got more and did less.
Agholor is in his last year of contract before hitting a final medium size contract. So he will be extra motivated to perform . Why lose him now? Who knows he could have the amendola type make up season and become productive .

If Parker is even 60% active it changes our entire equation. Instead of having a non performing Harry , we have a decent known playmaker. Jonnu should be good enough by participating in OTAs and Mac with more conditioning and confidence would be attempting lesser check down passes and more contested and tight window passes .

So adding it up the offense suddenly looks potent. Jakob and Bourne having breakout sessions last year really helped .

I don't think we will draft a wr before 4th round . Calvin Austin, Kyle Phillips and the wr from Rutgers are the ones I see being drafted unless Metchie falls to 4th round . Add to that we have Wilkerson and Tre Nixon hanging on slender ropes. So it could be interesting.

Get Kaair Elam, Travis and Chad Muma and Matt araiza and we are talking about a decent draft ..

Now trade Agholor and sign Landry

I dig that; and the weird thing is, their record last season should've been Even Better, if they hadn't blown the Indy Clots and Both Miami games outta their collective azzes because of Just Plain Bad football... Still don't think their talent would've supported a 13-4 record into the POs however; but they had an opportunity to take advantage of more than a couple of scheduling breaks to host at least one PO game and maybe even win one too...

I think players realize that they have some power in choosing where they are traded, even without no trade clauses (see Gronk), and he made it known that he wanted to be traded to the Pats.

Algohor is more likely cut than extended. 22m for 2 years when parker is half that and is a much better player shows how poor thst signing was.

Yes i know parker was not a fa and cost a small amount of draft capital.

and this team that the talent to be 13-4 is SO MUCH, MUCH worse that we are below average in OFF and DEF, and won't be in the playoffs???

Their record says that they are in the offseason, with a lot of players gone, and with teams in the conference getting better.

Newsflash there are no games in April.

If you beat a team that's devastated by injury, that doesn't mean you are better overall than that team.
