OT: Arians steps down as Tampa HC

Not saying your wrong but this is what the Mike Reiss of Tampa is reporting

The problem is whether this is true or Brady forced Arians out, we will never know unless the relationship between Brady and the Glazers ever sours. I am sure if Brady forced Arians out, Arians was paid handsomely to sign an NDA about it.

Unfortunately for Brady if Arians stepping down has nothing to do with him, people will always assume he forced Arians out.

Did you watch a Bucs game where he played? Being paid peanuts? Who cares what he was in 2018. When healthy, he was arguably the best overall receiver on the team in 2020 and damn good in 2021. Bill's place in Patriot history will always be tied into Brady until he gets more games and shows, yet again, that sports is about the players, not the coaches. Bill's record without Brady on the Pats is average with no playoff wins and one epic playoff loss.

I'll leave it at that because I'm trying to keep from inciting other Pats fans with my unpopular opinions.

That's bullsh*t. More than one poster is talking about Belichick in this thread because it is a natural extension of the thread's subject matter.

Crawhammer is absolutely right: If Brady goes deep into the playoffs - or actually wins a Super Bowl - with yet another HC, while NE stumbles to 10-8 again, it will be a HUGE slap to Belichick's legacy.

Belichick's legacy is already set but if that happened it would demonstrate once again in case there was still any doubt that Brady was by far more responsible for this dynasty because wins and rings come from having good players who play well more than they come from just having good coaches.

My speculation of what happened. Brady told the front office he wanted Arians out, but they wouldn’t cooperate. Brady retires and then after thinking about it too long, the Bucs had a change of heart promising to can Arians if Brady returns. If so, Bucs made a huge mistake not doing this earlier and hiring another HC.

I think he asked for his release after the season to head west. The request was reasonable, as he extended his deal to clear only cap space. The bucks & BA denied his request....

He retired because of that decision.

The Glazers asked to have a one on one with him. Hence the trip to England. Face to face he was asked "what is it going to take... "

The price was BAs job... And I do wonder if we will hear of any grumblings between divagoat and the bucks front office this coming season...

The point is obvious and can’t be more clear. Brady lobbied for AB because AB was still a damn good player in 2019, 2020, and 2021 when healthy. So it makes no sense to question his motivation for wanting him on his team. I don’t know why you make silly points like whether or not AB was “the key” to Brady winning…I guess to turn it into an argumentative crap fest. AB made the offense better. He was a key matchup problem often and including SB55. It’s just weird to deny reality and act like Brady wanted to bring on a rotten apple for some barely noticeable perk.

I get it...it doesn't fit into your bizarre, fan fiction narrative that Tom ate a poisoned fruit when he left NE and is now crazed, self-obsessed prima dona who leverages his power and laughs about it, rather than that the reality that he's (a) never been perfect, (b) is obsessed with winning, and (c) is more public/less guarded now in his approach, and (d) plays for an organization who, as part of the agreement to go there, told them they'd give him a lot of leverage when it comes to decisions outside the traditional QB role. Seriously, to me some examples of forcing your way out of town are: Wilson in SEA, Watson in HOU, Bell in PIT, Adams in NYJ, Ramsey in JAX, etc.

Brady became a FA after his last contract year because the Pats agreed to a non-franchise tag. I don't want to get into this on this thread (or any other), but suffice it to say, imo the divorce was by mutual accord. It is what it is.
