Kraft seems to be getting a little impatient already. He said he's frustrated about having not won a playoff game in 3 years. He essentially said last year's draft was the first good draft in 5 years and he's expecting a great draft this year. Kraft is not talking like an owner who's going to be content with possibly taking a step back in 2022, which some of us think will be the case. Next year this time, if we're 4 years without a playoff win, and not a clearly ascending team, then I think big changes will be on the table. If your scenario becomes reality, he'll answer the question with the party line of, "I have complete confidence in Bill to get us back on the winning track".
So your question is what would happen if you make up results that both haven’t happened and are totally inconsistent with previous results? So what is Kraft going to say when they finish 8-9, maybe 3rd in the division, and out of the playoffs? By that point they'll have a cumulative record of below .500 (25-26) over the last three season? Is Belichick on the hot seat at that point? It's serious question... if they don't top 8 or 9 wins over the next two seasons then I could see the Krafts seriously considering a change.
What kind of owner of any business would be content with taking a step back?Is he saying that now? Kraft seems to be getting a little impatient already. I don't think he is but that's my opinion. He said himself he is a fan first. Fans talk like that on this board. Is he saying that now? Kraft seems to be getting a little impatient already. It's a hypothetical situation, which requires making things up.So your question is what would happen if you make up results that both haven’t happened and are totally inconsistent with previous results?
I guess Kraft would trade the franchise for the Jets.
Right, I don't think he's saying that either, as well he shouldn't if the last two seasons have shown us anything. And I think he was pandering with the fan comment.I don't think he is but that's my opinion. He said himself he is a fan first. Fans talk like that on this board.
So hypothetically if the patriots go 20-0 this year, how long will that shut up your whining? It's a hypothetical situation, which requires making things up.

I don't think Kraft's confidence in Belichick is as rock solid as you're saying. The bar is high because they won so consistently for 19 seasons... all winning seasons, 17 divisions titles, etc. we all know the rest of it. On more than one occasion Kraft has been critical of Belichick's drafts... he basically just said the drafts were poor for 4 years until last season. He's well aware of the unprecedented money spent last offseason. Kraft says he "expects" to contend next season... I don't think that's a prediction as much as it's a demand and if it doesn't happen then I don't think Kraft is going to merely cite In Bill We Trust. What kind of owner of any business would be content with taking a step back?
Would you expect him to say he is happy not winning in the playoffs? Do you know why his bar is so high? Bill Belichick.
Whatever this year brings there is no one better quipped to lead this franchise to the top. Kraft knows that.
Generally I try to keep my hypotheticals within the realm of possibility. So hypothetically if the patriots go 20-0 this year, how long will that shut up your whining?
I do.So? Who cares if Bob mentions bad drafts?
You care what Bob says only when you agree with it.I do.
Bob is calling a spade a spade. These crappy drafts are not acceptable and somebody else may need to buy the groceries if we plan to eat around here.
It is my understanding the team spends to or near to the cap each year and it's not exactly something that varies on Kraft's mood.Kraft keeps mentioning the bad drafts. That is no accident. Bill and company need to hit it out of the park this year. Kraft is not shelling out the type of money he did last year again.
Of course you don’t think that Kraft has confidence in the guy who has had the most success in the history of the sport because that’s your agenda.I don't think Kraft's confidence in Belichick is as rock solid as you're saying. I'm not whining either. I'm speculating on what Kraft might be thinking and what he may do if things go a certain way. He's the owner of the team, and he's not getting any younger, so his point of view is rather important. I doubt he's on board with a multi-year build up. Not after last-$-offseason and securing your franchise quarterback. I think Kraft is of the mindset that Belichick the GM has given enough to Belichick the HC to be successful right now.
Exactly. It is my understanding the team spends to or near to the cap each year and it's not exactly something that varies on Kraft's mood.
Ahhh, the lyrics from Laverne and Shirley!(Note: the schlemiel is someone who spills his soup, a schlemazel is one who gets that soup spilled on him.)
You're probably correct. The only thing I noticed is he made the "I'm not happy/it bothers me that we haven't won a playoff game in the last 3 years" comment twice, in his opening statement and again to one of the questions. It doesn't sound it was by accident. The wording was almost the same both times. Maybe he's turning senile and just repeating himself. My take is that I wince every time Kraft makes a public statement. He's really not good at that. In this case he needed to understand that a sizeable number of "journalists" are going seize on everything out of his mouth that comes remotely close to being interpreted as "shade" and will blow it up. Maybe that was his objective on this, but I tend to believe the guy is just a schlemiel (i.e., fundamentally inept) when it comes to giving public statements (Note: the schlemiel is someone who spills his soup, a schlemazel is one who gets that soup spilled on him.)
