“Ro-bin-son”. Try and keep up.Who? Landry at 18 Million? Lmfao
Get Real, he's a decent WR that COULD help us, BUT NOT at 18+ folks.
Robinson? You mean the talented guy that's hurt or on the list almost every week?“Ro-bin-son”. Try and keep up.
Bailey isn't getting more than 2.5 IMO, if he expects more, he can go away, and Bill will grab the next in 5/6.Jake Bailey seems the first obvious extension, maybe followed by tacking an extra year on Jonathan Jones contract to reduce that cap hit. Judon the first restructure. Harry the next trade, probably a player for player (I like the idea of Shenault or Parris Campbell).
Not sure we'll see a cut anytime soon as extending Bailey and Jones and restructuring Judon could create $12m or so in cap space. That will be enough to get you through the draft and into training camp in all likelihood.
It actually makes me feel better about our team that BB is not spending big dollars on FA's this year. It gives me confidence that the coaching staff feels good about the unproven players, the FA's from last year and with the potential they see in Jones' development. I'm sure they will pick up more FA's, but I'm glad to see they have faith in building off what they accomplished last year.
Yeah, it makes sense and is something I've tried to say a couple times. Pats spent big last year in a depressed market when they had a lot of money and others were pinching pennies just to keep what they had. This year they have less due to that spending and other teams are spending big. Next year NE currently has 32 players rostered and $90M in cap space. They COULD restructure guys to make space now, but then that takes money away from next year and I wonder if perhaps they anticipate another slightly more "bearish" market at the top after so much big spending this year.Yesterday, I read Pioli's perspective on BB's FA plan. Sounds along theses lines.

Didn't realize Pats don't have this provision baked into their contracts.
Guess who's getting extended / re-structered first? Suggestions:
1. Cut Tavai ($1.2M)
2. Trade Anderson ($1.4M)
3a. Trade Godchaux ($7.5M) or
3b. Cut Godchaux ($5M)
4. Trade Harry ($1.9M)
5. Trade Agholor ($9.9M)
6. Re-structure Judon ($6.6M)
7. Re-structure Henry ($4M)
$30M to $32.5M addt'l cap
Sign:
1. Akeem Hicks
2. Jadeveon Clowney
3. Draft CB#1, WR#1, LB, DT, G
Thought about adding him but the 5 guys can be replaced and improve the team:Good post. Add Flowers if DE is not on your 3. Draft list.
Thought about adding him but the 5 guys can be replaced and improve the team:
1. Replace Tavai via UFA or UDFA
2. Replace Anderson w/ Clowney
3. Replace Godchaux w/ Hicks
4. Replace Harry w/ Wilkerson
5. Replace Agholor w/ Top draft pick
This instantly makes the team better. Some of the young guys need to step up (Uche, etc.).
This blew last season's record of $163M by the Pats out of the water.
Yeah, there's a big difference between spending big for a couple high-priced elite players and spending for a bunch of good-not-elite players on longer deals. They'll be able to spend again next year while still having the guys they purchased 2 years prior and hopefully some young guys they developed through the draft. They won't be nearly as top-heavy as some of the main contenders are.And how many years of service/players were involved in those?
Pats:
Judon 4yrs
Smith 4 yrs
Henry 3yrs
Bounre 3 yrs
Wise 4yrs
Guy 3yrs
Andrews 4yrs
Agholor 2yrs
Godchaux 2yrs
Mills 4yrs
Anderson 2yrs
Plus a whole bunch of 1 year/camp body deals.
When you look at these, gobs of the $$$ are going to one or two players on contracts that have fake years. CAP hit per game missed for injury will be through the sky.
