OT: Matt Ryan to Colts

AFC gets even harder. The Colts were a talented team who got blindsided by Luck retiring and were a talented team in QB purgatory. Now they have a QB capable of playing at the highest level with the right talent.

It's a better situation than the last 2 years, but if I'm a Colts fan, I'm pretty pissed that they keep going after old guys at the end of their career.
Ryan will be 37, Rivers was 38. I do think Ryan could play well for another 3 years, but still...
What does this mean for the Falcons?? Starting fresh with a rookie - like Corral or Willis

Colts are in the AFC mix Real QB Matt Ryan: Elite RB Jonathan Taylor plus Very Good WR Michael Pittman Jr. Add another WR from this Deep WR Draft and I would say the Colts can legitimately compete. P.s. the Colts have Draft capital too love the win soon enough move.

So is a QB like Malik Willis a possibility for the Falcons at #4?

Good trade for Indianapolis. Ryan puts them in the conversation to win their division. Also now another AFC team for sure that's better than the Patriots.

Ryan's still only 36 and he's an underrated quarterback in my opinion. Tied for 10th all-time with an INT% of 2.1%. Former league MVP who won't make a lot of mistakes and is capable of making big plays. Good postseason numbers too... he was ridiculous in the '16 postseason but we all know how that ended (although not his fault).

Absolute hilarious meltdown on sports talk radio down here in Atlanta. Within the past week icons Freddie Freeman and Matt Ryan have left town.

What makes the Falcons look even worse - If that's possible - is the contrast between the Falcons and the Braves. The Braves win the World Series and have a perfect plan B by trading for Matt Olsen. By contrast, the Falcons went from being offered a 2nd and 4th round pick a couple of weeks ago to being lucky to get a 3rd from Indy because of the bonus money owed to Ryan. They completely botched this and everyone seems to agree that it was Arthur Blank (and not his coach or GM) going all in on Deshaun Watson that burned all the bridges with Ryan.

I've heard this at least a half a dozen times on the radio in the last half hour: ever since 28-3 the Falcons have been a complete disaster. The Pats destroyed this franchise

Some Teams are Loaded with extra picks in the Second and Third Rounds we might have hard time getting a Trade Partner for #21.
Possible.

Pretty incredible job by Ballard, getting a future HOF QB for a 3rd round pick.

The funny thing is the Falcons didn't actually want to get into the Watson sweepstakes, but Watson wanted to go to the Falcons. So he dragged them into the bidding. Then he spurned them after the Browns were forced to guarantee his entire salary after going after Watson caused a forced divorce between the Brwons and Mayfield. And now the Falcons are forced to trade away Ryan because they showed they didn't want him either.

Watson has created more havoc around the league than any one player that I can think of in many, many years.

Jimmy G and Baker Mayfield might be the only options for Atlanta now
