Most teams seem to “find” cap space one way or another. I’m sure the Patriots could just as easily do that, for one reason or another they seem unwilling

Right, its not a matter of not having the capability, its who we want to spend on and when. just because the cap space can be made right now - it doesn’t necessarily mean its the right thing to do .

Maybe, but the reality is Bill has never won the division with an average QB, so it's not absurd to believe that getting a lot of talent around our QB may be what is needed. Not sure there's much difference between negative nancies and blind homers. There's room for something in the middle.
One thing I know and I hope BB do also Mac is no GOAT and he ain't better than some of the other young QB's around the league. Mac has some room to grow he ain't perfect but surrounding him with good Talent can make him look good.

He won 11 games in 2008 with a QB who didn't start a single game in college, a 7th round pick.

He was undefeated with JimmyG starting.

They have a good young prospect now in Mac who is on a team friendly rookie contract for years.

Rome wasn't built in a day.
To summarize
When he took over a decimated cap strapped team with no talent he didn’t win the division the first year then won the SB the second year.

He lost the division on a tie breaker the year he was forced in season to start a QB who hadn’t started a football game since HS.

He didn’t win the division when he had a qb who couldn’t throw because after winning 3 SBs in 5 years he didn’t have enough cap space to get a real one.

He lost the division by 1 game with a rookie Qb, the 5th one selected in the draft and made the playoffs with one of if not the most productive rookie qb led offenses in nfl history.

In between he won 6 SBs

Geez, what a failure, I think people posting here clearly know better than him.

ready to trade for a QB
They're at least $20M over the cap next year already with only 35 players rostered lol. Watching them dance around the cap these past few years has been very interesting.

He's never won the division w/o an elite QB is the point regardless of all the excuses.

Why not?

They were $80M this year, now they're $20M under. They were in same position last year and almost made the playoffs with Jaboo, and the other jag QBs.

Jags gave this guy a 5 year, $53.75m deal two off-seasons ago, dumped him after 1 year for a 6th round pick from the Steelers, now the Steelers have cut him. Was on the Browns when Eliot Wolf was there.

Should be useful. He is a great tackler for sure.

A cherry picked stat... he won the division in 2019 and got bounced in the first round.

He won the division in 2017 and got beat by Nick Foles in the Super Bowl.

Is Nick Foles "elite?"

It's the ultimate TEAM sport.

BB drafted Brady and had him as his QB for two decades, the majority of Bill's career. A tiny sample size without Tom doesn't prove anything except his team wasn't good enough. Like they weren't good enough when Brady led the entire NFL in passing TD's in 2002 but still went 9-7.

They didn't win the Super Bowl 14 times with Tom on the team, they won the division 11 of those.

If Tom were the only or biggest reason, Tom should have like 20+ rings... right?

Even if Watson ends up with the Saints, there's this to consider:

1. Payton is no longer HC.
2. Watson probably gets suspended 4-8 games.
3. Kamara is probably facing a suspension as well.
4. They probably lost their All Pro LT (Armstead).

They could start 2-6 for all we know.

I totally forgot about the Kamara situation

Take this for whatever it’s worth….

And they haven’t won anything.
