NFL Free Agency 2022 edition

Patriots don’t even have a team they can field right now.

Belichick has always been able to out couch mediocre personnel ability

Oh and he used to have Brady
Good thing we don’t have to field a team RIGHT NOW.

Let’s sum things up as of now. From the team that last saw the field in a humiliating playoff game against their division rivals giving up 47 points on 7 drives, the following is a summary of what the Pats have gained and lost since that game:

Lost: Josh McDaniels OC, Bo Hardegree QB coach, WR coach Mickey Lombardi and OL coach Carmen Briscillo

Gained: Joe Judge and Matt Patricia in unknown capacities

Lost: players- LG Ted Karras, RG Shaq Mason, likely RT Trent Brown, FB Jakob Johnson, RB Brandon Bolden, OLB Kyle Van Noy, likely D’onta Hightower and CB JC Jackson and his 8 Interceptions

Gained: players- the CFL guy the Pats outbid their competitors for with a $40k guarantee, the hope Onwenu can play guard, the possibility of acquiring the overpaid injury riddled RT Collins, the prayer 3rd rd TE Dalton Keene coming off a serious neck injury being an all-purpose FB, the hope James White’s hip is sound, the unknown of what Josh UChe, Anfernee Jennings, Ronnie Perkins etc can be and journeyman CB Terrance Mitchell.

It speaks for itself; there’s been quite a bit lost and very little of tangible substance gained. Yes, it’s March 16th, but that’s a whole lot of ground to make up in one draft and from the pool of misfit toys still left in free agency. That’s just to be as good not better than the team that gave up 7 TDs in 7 drives in their last game.

But, you’ve got the little wizard behind the curtain in Foxboro to make it all work. Good luck.

Don’t worry buddy, society is going to collapse and WWIII is going to start long before the season even starts.

excellent factual summary. THe last 3 years have been pretty crappy.

2019- losing in first round to Tenesee at home by one point, with TB12's last throw in a Patriots uniform, an interception. GOAT (once in a lifetime player) leaves Pats with hard feelings towards organization
2020- ridiculous year. Cam Newton, nice guy but completely incompetent passer. Horrendous WR's and skill position players, pretty horrendous draft
2021- BB blows wad of cash on multiple failed free agents, setting up 2022 as another non competitive year like 2020. Horrendous December with multiple losses and one of the most embarrassing losses in franchise history at Buffalo in first round of playoffs, BB inexplicably trades their one top tier OL for a 5th round pick and allows their pro bowl CB to leave in UFA. Signs several of their own UFA with mean age of 34. Abysmal cap mamagement

We have been spoiled for many years with 6 SB's. I am thankful to BB for the great years but definitely feels like the end of the BB GM era is coming and it probably should.

Majority of fans on have a right to be extremely disappointed despite the poular refrain "It's still early in FA"

For the Pats fans crying about Brady being "annoying" and wanting attention, here's a Patriots player doing exactly that, non-stop for the last year.
I don't care if TB quarterback Brady wants attention, We even have a sub-board to do exactly that.

Fans who are terribly unhappy after 2 playoff appearances in 3 years are going to face lots of disappointment, no matter what tea they choose to root for, especially when the non-playoff year was the COVID season and first season without their 19 year QB.

2 first round playoff losses in 3 years, one of them among the most embarrassing frnachise losses in history is nothing to get excited about
The team last year progressively got worse as the season went onward and BB has lost his fastball as GM. Hope Elliott Wolf can play a bigger role.

UFA's do not want to come to NE unless you pay them above market numbers.

I hope that you never have to root for a poor team, one that regularly finishes in the bottom third of the league.

Were you embarrassed? Poor baby. You have absolutely nothing to do with having any impact whatsoever on the result and you are “embarrassed”. Grow up.

I am sure you were very proud of the performance in the playoff game last year. Has nothing to do with "growing up". Real Pats fans want to see action to improve their team. Maybe you are satisfied with the December swoon and the playoff game result. If so...that is not a winning attitude.

It’ll be interesting to revisit this thread at the end of the 2022 season and look back at some of these doom and gloom comments about how the season is done for just a few hours after the legal tampering period has ended.

No one is satisfied with not being able to compete with Buffalo. The game reminded be of the SB game against the Bears.

Of course, we should (and the players) should be embarrassed. HOWEVER, a playoff loss was a playoff game. Many other teams need to start from scratch yet again, after another season with 6 wins or fewer. They don't have a playoff team to build upon. There is much to do this year and next and perhaps in 2023 to continue to build toward playing deep into the playoffs.

Whether the fans like the strategy or not, Belichick has little interest in tearing apart the team and starting over whenever we are horribly embarrassed in the playoffs. We are NOT Atlanta.

I take pride in my own efforts and achievements. I don’t take pride in the team I chose to root for achieving something that I contribute nothing to.
I get a lot of enjoyment from it but it is neither a source of pride not embarrassment for me, because I have a life.

What in the Fnck would me having a winning attitude have to do with the success of the patriots? What difference would it make if I were satisfied or dissatisfied?

Are you honestly implying that someone who doesn’t cry about the first couple of days of off-season and isn’t EMBARRASSED by his other men play football doesn’t want to see the team improve?

Are you so deluded that you think your emotional outbursts have an impact?

Wow. Grow up was an understatement.

How can you be personally embarrassed because of a game you have nothing to do with?

Maybe cause he’s a fan, wears their gear, has spent time and money following them for god knows how many years.

And? Do you get embarrassed over things you have no control over?
How? You didn’t do anything.

Yeah it’s embarrassing when the team I’ve supported for years is getting their ass whooped, I’m emotionally invested. What is it fun to you?
