OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Really good find by @wh22592 here -- watch at the 3:10 mark after Bucs-Falcons game and you see a brief postgame interaction between Chris Godwin and new Bucs receiver Russell Gage. Gage says Godwin and Evans "inspire" him with their play.

If this is true, AB is gonna blow a gasket:

It is most likely true since that is the true market value for a receiver of his caliber right now. AB was signed at a huge discount because of his issues combined with his age and recent injury history. Bucs made a mistake IMO with how they handled Brown. They should have given in to him much more since he was underpaid a very productive when healthy.

Jordan whitehead to Jete…

Getting a WR that Brady can just feed quickly and wait out / tire out a defense is a good thing but the Bucs defense is still garbage with a DC that wants to just attack. They need to get leads and let the defense feast or teams will dink and dunk and tire out the Bucs before they put up 30. Whitehead is now gone and that's huge.

Former Bucs safety Jordan Whitehead's deal with the Jets is for two years, per his agent Sunny Shah.

Is Mathieu still even that good anymore? The Chiefs obviously don’t care to keep him.
I don't think so but he's not horrible. I would prefer Dmac to him but probably similar? Dmac has been durable though. They have Edwards and winfield and some other scrub Adams or something so they need another one. Gilmore or a true #2 CB would help more but in the end with the play caller it doesn't matter. The line needs alot of work too.

Bucs going nowhere unless defensive backfield gets upgrades not losses (Whitehead) this season.
Also don't like him with the Jets as he's a good player and will be brutal to Pats wideouts.

I'm told the terms on the deal for S Jordan Whitehead going to the #Jets is a 2-year deal for $14.5M, per league source.

Bucs secondary was so bad last year because they had an average of one healthy starter active each game. Eventually water finds its level.

They need to upgrade over JPP though on the line, he’s just too beat up now.
