The personal conduct policy doesn't apply to Owners? He can settle the civil suits.

Kraft had criminal charges against him that were dropped over a technicality (he was caught on video and all but admitted in his apology). No suspensions.
Trent Brown had a civil suit against him for assault. No suspensions.
Chung had criminal charges against him that were worked out with SA. No suspensions.
AB had a sexual battery civil suit against him that was settled. No suspensions (for that one).

I am not going to say the NFL personal conduct policy is perfect or even good lol. But yes, the commissioner has the discretion to levy punishment on players for violations however he sees fit. I know, it's stupid but that's how the process is set up unfortunately. And since Goddell works for the owners, what can he really do to Kraft? Suspend him from hanging out in the locker room after games?

Then why didn't Kraft receive any punishment? His story was headline news for 2+ years and an embarassment to NFL & Pats.

He got a HJ and then went back next morning to get a HJ/BJ right before flying to AFCCG (not judging).
Because the charges were dropped and it went away. And he’s an owner.

He can penalize Owners (Snyder, Irsay, etc) but he didn't. I believe Kraft cut a deal w/ Goodell to 86 AB from the Pats that basically blackballed him to avoid any penalties for himself. Kraft is a selfish SOB. Goodell is a pos.

You just said it didn't matter if there were charges or not, just social media reactions. Kraft was skewered in SM. Is there an exclusion for Owners?

I said it was about PR. The Kraft story died down quickly.
Of course the people who own the teams are treated differently than the collectively bargained players by the guy the owners hired to negotiate against the players.

I think Meyers will get the second round tender. I think Gunner get the lowest tender, but if he signs elsewhere the Pats get no compensation since he was undrafted.

Love that Meyers worked hard and carved out a nitch for himself in this League. That said I don't think he's a Two definitely not a Three. Meyers seem like a number Four wide-out to me. I would like to upgrade even him.

Cowboys do some house cleaning:
I think because he was an UFA, the LOWEST you can put on Gunner would be a Second. Not sure of that, but iirc, that's the way it works.
They can put a right of first refusal on him. They just wouldn't get anything for him if someone signed him to a contract.

he Dallas Cowboys cut kicker Greg Zuerlein, waived-injured tight end Blake Jarwin with a failed physical, and cut wide receiver Robert Foster, defensive back Reggie Robinson and running back Ito Smith.

So it's a plantation. Thanks for agreeing.

My point was we saw for ourselves the NFL can suspend someone for any reason they want. Court case outcome doesn’t matter. There is a much lower burden of proof with the league than in the legal system.

Zeke Elliott was suspended anyway after he was acquitted. There’s no connection between legal discipline and the league’s. I’ll be shocked if Watson isn’t suspended.
fair enough

You believe that the league will suspend him, not that it has any reason to do so, based on past precedent.

I agree. The league can do almost whatever they want. They certainly don't require a criminal conviction to bar a player from playing.

#4 receivers can't catch 84 passes in a season when there's no other receiver on the team that's a #1. Can't happen. He's a #3.

sign the beast

Scheme and size fit but and at his best was an elite run stuffer but he apparently had a subpar 2021 and often displayed poor effort after sitting out 2020 due to COVID. That’s a major red flag. Haven’t seen any Bears fans who are broken up about the move.

Best case scenario would be to sign him on a one year “prove it” deal and he ends up giving the Pats consistent effort in hopes of one more payday during the 2023 offseason.

Depends on which team. On a team like the Pats yes. Maybe #4 on a great team. On the Bills he’d be a WR4 or maybe even a WR5 behind Diggs, Sanders, Beasley and Davis.

That’s also a lot of picks to give up which could have been used to improve a defense that allowed 7 TD in 7 drives and hasn’t forced a punt in 9+ quarters of football against a team they are chasing in the division. Getting Watson and showing Mac the door won’t fix those problems.

Not to mention cutting enough players to free up the 46 million it would to make the trade.
With no picks left to replace them.

Remember when trading a franchise QB for ONE 1st round pick was considered costly?

Now the market for trading for a franchise QB has been destroyed.

While I’d trade Mac for Watson, Pats would have zero assets to build around him with his large contract and no picks.
