OT: Russell Wilson traded to Denver

Seattle probably now has the capital to make a play for Deshaun Watson.

Drew Lock, Shelby Harris, Noah Fant, two 1sts, two 2nds and a 5th for Russell Wilson and a 4th.

That's a haul for a guy who doesn't want to be there. Seattle will probably make a play for Watson now.

Ya Bastid!

I think Wilson's decline may be real, but he's still good enough to be impactful for at least a couple more years. However, he didn't want to be in Seattle anymore and, with Carroll being supported by team ownership, that was a situation that was not going to be resolved in any way other than Wilson moving on.

It's a shame, but Seattle will at least get some return.

Wilson fell off down the stretch in 2020 too. Not just last year. His size and age could be working against him. He isn't Lamar Jackson, but also isn't a pocket passer. He does rely on his physical skills. So it is possible that the Seahawks saw the beginning of the end of Wilson and decided to trade him before other teams started to see the same thing.

Damn. This makes things even tougher for the Patriots in the AFC.

Definitely no chance of us making the Playoffs this year.

And you guys are REALLY sleeping on Wilson. Dude has still been good, don't let the finger issue fool you. His best receiver is D.K Metcalf, who can only run like 1 or 2 routes and drops a lot of passes.

You guys are sounding like Brady haters in 2019 sounded.

He's had a 3 year statistical decline, and I think his actual play has declined as well. The question is how much of it is a Brady 2013/2019 type scenario, and how much is an actual and permanent decline. Denver is banking on it being mostly the former.

Weapons play a role. Seattle hasn't given him much help offensively these last few years. Metcalf is explosive, but he's not a great receiver.

It's definitely the Brady 2013/2019 scenario.

the real question is: How much cap space does Denver have?

At least KC will need to earn that #1 seed this year. 1st place schedule and that division

Trade ealy, not later. Wilson isn't the same QB he once was. I'm not so sure this isn't a win-win for both teams. Maybe his contract was killing the ability to build a better team on offense and defense. I'm not a Petey fan so I'm not sure their draft haul will result in the acquisitions to build upon. To me, a classic case of a team wasting away with just a big money QB and not much else. Maybe they looked at the Pats and saw the same problems BB saw a couple of years ago. Time to start climbing out of they hole they dug for themselves is my thoughts.

Seems about right for his situation. But it does nothing to fill the void he leaves behind (diminished though it may have been in recent years). This isn't a great QB draft class, and I doubt Denver's first next year will be in the "can't miss" range for one next year either. They'll either need to hit on another day two QB (like they did with Wilson) or they've got another move coming.

I think that, unlike with Brady, there's definitely been some slippage in Wilson's game. But time will tell.

Yeah, no kidding. There's no way the Pats can get a Wildcard over the Chargers or the Raiders...oh wait.

Didn't expect that, hopefully he does well over there! (At least when it doesn't affect us of course). Was pretty surprised to see, even with all the rumors about him wanting out of town. Wonder how his wife feels about going to Denver tho XD

Everyone always reacts : example, that division is loaded at QB…. I dunno. Mahomes is VG, but has been prone to make key mistakes as well. And he is far, far better - imo - than the other three.

Wilson I’ve always liked : but his potential slide in recent years should be monitored. Herbert : have no idea what people see in him. INT machine who’s hype far outpaces his production. Unless you only care about sports centre plays that lead to a few wins vs subpar teams. And the Raiders ? Carr isn’t the answer.

Good for Denver for making a big move, but often times what looks great in March doesn’t seem as great in November.

so when Von Miller suggested that he wanted to go back to Denver, he knew something was brewing...with Wilson and Miller, the Broncos are going to be awfully tough. Not sure if it's enough to dethrone KC, but AFCW is going to be a battle. McDaniels probably wishes he stayed in NE lol

Dude, it's frickin' MARCH.

I'm guessing , looking at Drew lock being FA in 2023, they are going to hold their nose with Lock this year and make a play for a different QB down the road. As others have said, Watson maybe? There's some decent QBs free agents in '23.
