OT: Russell Wilson traded to Denver

Jeez not even a decade later and Lockett is the last man standing on that championship team. Carroll probably is on a clock now.

Rob, I don't think a Team would give up that much if they didn't think he's good enough Denver wasted some pretty good Defenses because of poor QB play. Remember BB and Patriots aren't the only Team who's known for Great trades I'm nit picking a little.

Just because they think Wilson was worth the draft capital they gave away doesn't mean they are right. We have seen teams who trade for a great player thinking it will turn their fortunes around and the player is a disappointment. Wilson could be an All Pro for the next five years, but that isn't guaranteed just because the Broncos gave up a crap load of high draft picks.

Hell, the Colts ultimately gave up a first and third round pick for Carson Wentz and they are already ready to move on from the guy after one year.

Weapons play a role. Seattle hasn't given him much help offensively these last few years. Metcalf is explosive, but he's not a great receiver.
Because Harry is so much better... those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Is he going to have better weapons in Denver than he had in Seattle? Would you rather have Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf or Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick? This is Brady in reverse when it comes to the receiving talent around him.

Wilson also has jerry Jeuedy and a better offensive line in Denver. I would say he’s going to be more productive there than he was in seattle

Yeah, I don't get the Metcalf knocks... dude was one of the most productive WR in the league until Wilson broke his finger.

Seattle probably made the right call in dumping Wilson when RW starts asking for $50 million/year...better to start from scratch. GB should have done that wrt Rodgers

Yeah, no kidding. There's no way the Pats can get a Wildcard over the Chargers or the Raiders...oh wait.
You're as good as your last game still waiting for Buffalo to punt. We are a untalented team that needs a serious infusion of Talent we might be two years away. We are FAR from the Iron of the AFC.

Russell Wilson still plays at an elite level so he'll definitely give Denver a boost but probably not enough to overtake KC in that division. This trade obviously won't help the Patriots much either... yet another elite quarterback to contend with.

On the flip side, if Seattle makes good on the two firsts and two seconds then it'll be a nice kickstart to a quick turnaround... although they're probably finishing last in their division for a couple more seasons anyway.

Metcalf is what he is. He's a specimen, not a tactician or precision guy. That's where the knocks come from.

Fant is part of the deal...

Fant was one of the guys that made the Denver QB job attractive.

Jeuedy isn't as good as either Lockett or Metcalf. Again, he had better receivers in Seattle. It isn't like Brady going from Edelman and a bunch of scrubs to Godwin, Evans, Gronk, and Antonio Brown.

A fair point. I think the context of them though (and I know I didn't reply to a specific post, so it wasn't very clear on my part), was that Metcalf shouldn't be counted as a good weapon that Wilson had in Seattle, which I disagree with. Especially for Wilson's style, which employs a fair amount of "street ball", Metcalf is certainly a player who brings a lot to the offense.

Maybe his weapons are better in Seattle, but the o-line in Denver will allow him to operate more efficiently. Plus there's a chance that Adams comes along if he's not franchised (I don't know what the cap numbers are though). And no one is saying Brady didn't have weapons in Tampa. He arguably had one of the most talented teams in NFL history

The Butler INT will go down as Wilson's most memorable pass in Seattle.

That and dudes still want to be be right on the draft day analysis.

Denver's receivers aren't bad... Sutton and Patrick are both 6'4" and Jeudy has loads of potential that Wilson can tap into. However, I'll take Metcalf and Lockett and whoever else you can cobble together over Sutton, Patrick & Jeudy. Seattle isn't a horrible landing spot for a veteran FA quarterback.

Drew Brees played well close to 40, Aaron Rodgers is winning MVPs in his late 30's, Phillip Rivers played reasonably well last year. Maybe 40 is a slight exaggeration but late 30's seems to be much more frequent. They don't get hit the way they used to and the game is geared toward throwing the ball so I think this trend should continue.

And every single of them stayed in the pocket more often than not…..that’s a factor…..
