J.C. Jackson - "It's time to get Mr. INT paid."

the ex patriot players who speak about this stuff are usually the ones who have an axe to grind...
Or have nothing to lose by speaking the truth.

I will say he’s a 10 mill a year guy.
However if we are paying Nelson 15 mill how can we not pay JC the same or more?
I am on record to say that Agholar signing was one of our worst free agency moves.
I really hope he proves me wrong.
How much we should pay Jackson has exactly ZERO relevance to how much we pay Agholor.

Patience young padawan ... you are going to get paid one way or another! Getting tagged is not the worst thing unless you are worried about getting hurt. The Patriots are not going to set the market and bid against themselves. Your agent should be telling you this!

Jackson and his agent understand.

Jackson was informing the media and posters.

He had a good year with the Raiders 100 percent, I would of loved the signing for 5 mill a season. For 15 mill it was atrocious.
His one season could of been a mulligan vs his Eagles career.
Now to be fair he was very sure handed when called upon and I recall at least / very high sideline passes he went up and snagged contested.

There was very little separation.
So I don’t know if the Raiders schemed better to get him in good spots to make big plays.
Or if he was so concentrated on the playbook or following
Thru the catch that it affected his production.

That being said unless Agholar becomes Tyreek Hill or Lockett not anywhere close to the money we paid him.

A 15 mill receiver is Stephon Diggs, Calvin Ridley with his head on straight, ceedee lamb, deebo Samuel, AJ brown, Terry Mcclauren. Justin Jefferson. Jamar Chase, copper Kupp, Deandre Hopkins’s, Tyreek Hill, detroits version of Kenny Golladay,
Jaylen waddle, Devonta Smith.

I wouldn’t blink if we were paying any of them that kind of money.
Raiders had better offensive weapons and a more seasoned QB.

looking for Ramsey money ... thats average value of 20 million... oof... I think he's worth 18 or 19 million a year on the open market, but thats a bitter cap hit to swallow... maybe he would accept a deal that pays market rate, but has some of those fake non-guaranteed years tacked on the end to bump it up for bragging rights...

JC jackson is going to be expensive. But if you let him go, what is the alternative? We need to look away from the days when the patriots could lowball players and sign subpar guys. there is no Brady to elevate the lack of talent in certain areas anymore. And other CB's who might not be as good are going to cost just as much.

we already have questions at cornerback and all over the defense. and without a solid lockdown corner this defense is going to take a step back even further.

How about a $7M cap hit

FOUR YEARS $80M
$1M 2022 salary
$24M bonus
$15M 2023 salary
$20M 2024 salary
$20M 2025 salary
TBD details of guarantees in more than $25M
TBD incentives

The issue is NOT cap hit. The contract could be 4/$104M with same $7M cap hit. Simply increase the 2023-2025 salaries by $8M a year.

Brushi signed a team friendly deal,l

so your saying Allen is going for 10 Tds

All the omens are lining up for JC this off season. He is the top rated FA CB on the markets so far. The issue as I see it is that Jackson is NOT a shut down CB. And I define a "shut down CB" as a guy that offenses stay away from most of the time. Someone who gets targeted less than 5 times a game. So in the end, Jackson is probably is a $15MM/yr CB in value who is looking at a $20MM market for a "shut down" CB.
The Pats would LIKE to sign Jackson for around $60MM for a 4yr contract with $40MM guaranteed That's what Bill sees as his value. AND as Bedard writes so does the rest of the league.

Ultimately I believe Bill will allow JC to test the market when FA opens. See if anyone will offer him more than that $60/40MM deal. Hopefully he'll come back like a lot of guys before him. "Go test the Market JC you deserve it..., but if you get a great offer, please come back to us and give us a chance to match it or make it better before you sign."

If I were the Pats GM here is the best deal I'd offer him. $15MM/yr on that 4 year deal with $40MM guaranteed, BUT each year I'd offer him incentives based on production. ie if he's named All Pro, or if he's rated in the top 4 CB's in some independent rating system like PFF, he'd get a $4MM dollar boost. That way if the plays like an All Pro CB (not to be confused with pro bowl CB) he gets paid like one and if he plays like a very good but not great CB he's get paid like one. THAT's fair to both sides.

I chose 4 years because that what I believe are his prime years. But its also good for him since he'll only be 29 or 30 when he can hit the FA market again. If I were JC I'd only want a 3 year deal so he won't have the dreaded 30 issue going into the market.

that looks more like 2 year contract with an out than a 4 year deal, pending on final guarantees

That's a good point. We saw the Bucs finagle the cap last year to bring back all their FAs and they had a $25M QB which the Pats don't have to worry about. It can be done.

Which brings:

1. Does Bill not think JC is worth market value?
2. Or Bill just doesn't want to pay market value so he can pay others.

Either way, you can see where JC isn't seeing the love coming from the team.

The stick up could be what each side believes is market value. BB may be willing to pay his definition of market value but JCs opinion may differ.

Then best to let him test the market and match offer if that's the case.

I doubt it though. We saw same scenario play out with Thuney: team makes offer, player rejects it, gets tagged, little progress in negotiations, player walks following season and breaks the bank in FAcy.

I've got to believe Bill has metrics or ranges that he just won't go against.

All the talk that BB won't pay.

He paid for Gilmore.

The question is does Bill think JC is that level talent, and I think no.

I like Jackson........for the right price. Him calling himself Mr Int reminds me too much of AB calling himself Mr Big Chest during one of his meltdown videos.

Anything is “worth” as much as someone is willing to pay for it.

Jackson is going to get paid according to the market. Right now the only numbers we know for certain is the franchise tag’s $17 million.

I’m sure Jackson won’t cry, if the Pats tag him. His price will only go up the next year.

Guaranteed money is what to look for, those are the only real numbers in NFL contracts.

I’m guessing Jackson won’t sign any deal that doesn’t have at least $40 mil in guarantees.
