OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Can't have it all I guess but I'm going to puke watching LA dismantle Cinci. Props to Donald for finishing that game on the last 2 SF drives. Stafford tried to give it away but SF wasn't having it. He looks like a cool dude but the coverage of him is not something to look forward to and I hate McVay the leprechaun even if I respect what he's tried to do this year. The old NFL is dead.

That last drive was not on Jimmy. That D was dominant. He had no chance.

I am happy for Stafford.
Me too. Stafford has always been a very good QB on a garbage team. I guess I'm also happy for the Rams as they kept on going all in year after year. Their taking risks and chances. I respect that.

No doubt. Mahomes literally melted down for 2.5 quarters with an 18 point lead while Brady led his team back from a 24 point deficit late in the third. The juxtaposition is eye popping.

Mahomes is different from Manning, Rodgers, and Brees. His problem isn’t that he plays scared and has no balls when it matters, which was their problem. He wants to find risks and thrills that aren’t necessary and hurt the team. All he had to do was stick to the script and they had a blowout win.

Like Deus said, it is why he was not picked in the top 5. He has terrible mechanics, plays hero ball too much and just can't consistently game manage a game.

You know for all the flak Brady got for being a "game manager" over the years, that is how you win playoff games. I mean it is so obvious as you watch these teams crash and burn year after year. He just made it look so easy that it never seemed like a big deal. He always made the extraordinary look ordinary.

Nice that almost all the people commenting are not laying any blame on Brady. The opposite of Brady's 2019 year with the Pats.

It is true though, that Brady basically told the assistant coaches to focus on the game instead of chasing interviews. It wasn't a good look when the Bucs came out unprepared. No one is really blaming the players but they are blaming the coaches.

I really didn't see anything in that playoff game that looked as if the Bucs were unprepared. If we are being honest, Brady played like crap for 2.5 quarters and was also being rushed pretty good. He was also down Perriman and Grayson. The game was only close because the defense forced 4 fumbles and the Rams center had a brain fart snapping the ball over Stafford's head. Let's not also forget how atrocious the refs were on top. The last play call was terrible but the Bucs live and die on the blitz and almost caused Stafford to fumble on the first play of the GWD which would have sealed the victory.

I really don't buy that Brady is retiring over the Bucs coaching. He just had the best back to back seasons of his career and was tied for the best record in the league. The reason the Bucs lost which we all talked about prior to the playoffs beginning was the injuries. Just too much to overcome. Wirfs going down vs the Eagles was the final nail in the coffin.

If it really was about coaching then I believe Licht would do whatever Brady wants or Brady would ask for his release/trade. It has become apparent that Brady was planning this retirement from the start of the season with the Man in the Arena series.

I can see all sides to this. But it is weird how blunt Brady was about everyone needing to focus on their next game against the Rams. And it seemed to be a shot aimed at Leftwich, Bowles, and Arians who was bragging about their interviews.

The new rule that lets coaches interview while the playoffs are going on is horrible.

Chiefs fans aren’t impressed with a high level game manager. What’s so great about a guy who carries a mediocre supporting cast to a Super Bowl? Did he even do any triple jump fake, razzle dazzle, run around, laser needle, no look passes?

Ha,ha. Typical ChiefsPlanet. Last year they finally did admit Brady was that GOAT but that he was boring to watch and there was nothing special about his game.

He channeled his inner Kyler Murray at the worst time possible. That's on him.

No matter the outcome of the SB, no QB will have more than one SB win as a starter when next season begins.

Rodgers, Mahomes, Foles, Wilson, Flacco and Burrow/Stafford, all with one.

Jimmy G has two, but he contributed to those 2 rings as much as MAC10 has contributed to this thread.

It's so incredibly difficult to win 2 rings, Manning needed an all time great defense and a decimated Pats team to luck himself into a second ring, Rodgers and Brees never sniffed a second, and until last year people were arguing whether Mahomes can win 6.

Yeah, I give them crap but their forum is actually more objective about QB play than this one. They definitely think he causes a lot of the problems when he’s scramblingaround

What gives? It is so bizarre that he is gun shy in this moment.

I saw one screenshot, but it was really dark, of the 3rd down play right after that. Kelce is WIDE OPEN and Mahomes just stares at him. It’s such an easy TD.

The game ended on:

  • Mahomes deciding not to throw an wasy touchdown on a designed pass to Hardman of out of the flat. Instead, he tried to juke around and took a bad sack.
  • Mahomes holding the ball and scrambling around, fifteen yards behind the LOS, having five seconds throw, opting not to throw to a wide open Kelce…seeing the Bengals linebacker finally shoot towards him and, like a deer in headlights, fumble the ball, get extremely lucky to not lose the game, and moving the field goal back 17 yards.
  • OT: Mahomes, on his first pass, getting incredibly lucky to not throw a pick 6 that was an pretty easy play by the CB.
  • On the next play, Mahomes chucking up a ridiculous interception on a prayer to Hill, which almost seemed like “if I’m not gonna win this game myself, **** you all.”

Do you think the Tampa SB is the cause of his yips? I mean it was happening all season. I have never seen anything like it. The guys is just so good and was excellent, nearly perfect in the first half and then equally as bad in the second half. It's like he was kidnapped at halftime.

Yeah, I think Brady sharing his experience about how he views the week leading up to a big playoff game is a shot at the NFL for even allowing coaching interviews to occur as much (if not more so) as it was at Bowles and Leftwich.
