Cap is a myth. Honestly they were smart. Mahomes contract is front loaded and they got the big pieces locked in now. It becomes more workable in 2-3 years when they need to worry about bringing guys back

As @PP2 alluded to, the big cap hits haven't happened yet. They restructured this year to bring his cap hit to something like only $7M. Next year it balloons. Theoretically they could kick the can down the road again but those cap hits will become extremely monstrous eventually.
