Broncos request permission to speak to jerod mayo

No way broncos are hiring a defensive coach. They have all the talent on defense. The need someone to inject life onto their offense. Bill o Brien or Brian daboll or Eric bienemy would be their hires. Mayo is just for quota.

In fact mayo might not get real consideration this year . Very less experience and all teams have fired coaches within 2-4 years. So they will go conservative and not make out of the box hires like Joe judge

Why is there no compensation for a team hiring Mayo as the head coach?

It's interesting that Mayo is the head coaching candidate given Steve B has been seemingly promoted over him the last year or so. Not sure who that reflects badly on.

And we should get a 3rd round pick if Mayo leaves.

Anyone who thinks Flores is going to revert back to a DC role is out of their mind. He is one of the most desirable head coaching options out there now.
Based upon what? He had a losing record, made the playoffs zero times, and there was dysfunction in the house

Mayo is an interesting selection for them... they just got rid of a defensive minded coach, and are considering another? hmmm... they need a guy who can scout and develop a qb... not sure Mayo is that guy... Don't rightly know a lot about him as a potential HC though... he's not often mentioned in the national news... he's kinda just here... Oh hey, its Jerod...

However, Mayo should absolutely take the interview... he may not get the job, but the experience provided by the interview alone will help better prepare him for future HC candidacies... knowledge is power, makes it a valuable learning tool imo...

Is he linked to any other job openings?

I do not agree with the idea that the HC should be a defensive or offensive guy. The HC, IMO, should be the leader of the team, keeping everyone together and on the same page. It is best to have a DC and an OC within that team. The head coach is not there to develop a QB, he is there to lead 53+ men. That is a big job that is rarely done well, and being a great DC or OC does not make you a leader of men.

Man your post just made me picture Dan Devine, coaching on high from his Tower

and I 1000% percent disagree that the HC isnt there to develop a QB... Its his job to make sure it is done, and done correctly... and if he has to get his hands dirty doing so, so be it... Part of the "Leader of Men" vibe you got going on in your post...

The HC is there to win. Full stop. That usually includes developing a QB, but not necessarily. If Denver signs Aaron Rodgers, or another experienced QB, there is no reason for the HC to develop the QB. You can disagree 10,000%, but you are still off base.

It is weird that Mayo gets more play as a head coach than McDaniels or Steve Belichick. Probably less about the Xs and Os, but Mayo is more a natural leader from what I have heard about him.
McDD has not just burned that bridge, he wired it with TNT then blew it up.

Stevie IMO ain't ready to be a DC elsewhere never mind HC.

this is just to hit their quota and get a read on him, yes?

he can't really be ready for a head job at this point.....he's gotta be a ways away?
Stranger things have happened.

lol... that one made me laugh a bit...

coaches coach, and if they do it well, players buy in... if that happens, then they win...

The point is and was Denver has a mediocre situation at quarter back... Any coach they bring in won't be "winning" which you said is the coaches job, "Full Stop". Unless they can actually get something from their quarterback position... and the Broncos can't expect another quality QB to drop in their lap... it would be foolhardy to do so...

enjoy the rest of your day General Patton
