OT: Jaguars fire Urban Meyers

Got to believe he has moments he wishes he was in NE.
Along with many others. Bizarre twist, being punished for their great success.

If I were a kid in that situation, facing the draft?
Be very tempting to just nuke the whole idea.
The Jets? Yeah. That'll be a No.
F the Jets. Not going there.
I'd be a greeter at Walmart before I go there

Every press conference, have a joke
Kid at the spelling bee, How do you spell pathetic?
"Pathetic... J -E -T -S ...pathetic"

What is worse than Playing for Deetroyt?
Living there
Hindsight and all, but if anyone ever should have pulled an Eli Manning, it's Lawrence.

the jags game just turned into not a gimme. that team is going to play with some fire now that their soul sucking coach is gone.

I said it on the first page of this thread before he was fired and say it again, Urban is a POS!

Just look at the places he has coached and the manner in which he left.

At Florida he was successful, but at what cost. So many of his players were literally committing serious crimes that he knew about but let them play because they were the best players on the team. He had the win at all cost mentality which sometimes needs to be checked with college players. Saban comes into the SEC, beats him, the hammer is getting ready to fall about all these players he has let off the hook and all of sudden he has serious health issues. Issues serious enough to leave Florida and according to him, coaching all together, writes a note to his family asking for forgiveness for all the time he spent away from them coaching, and btw, posts it on social media.

1 year later, a miracle, he is healed and head coach at Ohio State. Yes he wins there, but leaves instead of being fired because he covered up for one of his coaches beating his wife repeatedly. Urban and his wife are mandated reporters, I am a mandated reporter, by law he should have reported the first incident of this guy beating his wife, but it went on for years and the Meyers covered it up! I would be fired if I did what he did and probably be charged, but he walks out of Ohio State saying "he found the right guy to replace him".

Then the Jags, ...

This guy is either a socially dysfunctional egomaniac or he has a cocaine problem -- or (my guess) he is a socially dysfunctional egomaniac with a cocaine problem.

Nice, hopefully Khan really cleans house. He has a horrible track record when it comes this stuff, the Jags have been dysfunctional for years now. It's a shame bc they've had a ton of talent go through there but the organization, leadership and overall direction have been completely absent. They've been waiting on a "Lawrence" to save them since birth. Sometimes even if the player is good enough, usually doesn't work out.

As a Jags fan I'd be happy Meyers is gone but very cautious about getting my hopes up just yet. The team has been at the bottom of a rebuild for the better part of a decade. Lawrence is that good but he's been playing poorly and already has a taste of Jacksonville after a few months. We've seen this movie before. These are 20-22 yo young adults. Usually coming from an all-star team so asking them to lift up half the world is never the brightest idea.

Overhaul everything and get someone in there that can hold Lawrence's hand like Josh does Mac. Get a real QB coach, OC that's looking to win or dying trying. Not another meathead like Meyer with a golden parachute anytime he wants to dip out.

They'll have another top 3 pick this year and 10-12 overall picks which is always good when you really need talent. Good thing is they don't have to chase a QB.

He is a reprehensible human being in a profession full of reprehensible human beings, but let’s not lose our minds here: based on his resume, he is a phenomenal college coach who did a great job at every step in the ladder at the college level.

Yup - how many times have we seen that narrative play out?

Team dumps a toxic coach and players respond by playing out of their minds.

I had not idea how bad of human being this guy was b4 going to the Jags. When the lady humping incident happened and I found out more about him, I was flabbergasted

The fact that he got an NFL job too, i mean, dang

I guess kicking the FG kicker was the last straw?

As mentioned above, this seems to fill the bill for 'cause'.
I hopefully imagine Khan was waiting for something like this,
and will sic all the ugly angry lawyers and spies on the bum.

Meyer is already unstable. Make him crack.

Meyer countersues, discovery
Emails. Pics of cheerleaders, and who knows what
It is there.

Things to talk about in the off season.

It really irks me to think of Meyer
collecting tens of millions.
No.

A better ending is we revisit the OJ White Bronco chase
with good clips of him screaming at the windshield

My angst about Aaron Hernandez has crossed over a bit here.
Meyer's Fault.

Meyer Derangement Syndrome
I'll be fine

Sad thing? How much would I bet, if I did bet, that there
are colleges already on the phone with the sob?

Last year the Lions fired an unpopular coach (Patricia) and named the same guy as interim who the Jaguars have now named as interim.

The Lions finished the season 1-4.

Impressive. That puts him tied for fourth place for the shortest NFL head coaching tenure. Of course Belichick is in first place.

McDaniels should really be the new #1 on that list

Winning covers/cures everything. So him being a potential Mt Rushmore coach of college football definitely made people look the other way from his POS personality/shenanigans

The success makes it all the more impressive that he's managed to burn every single one of those bridges.
