OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

it would be nice for the Packers to lose another game but I just don't see it. the Ravens are too banged up

Tampa fans and journalists have done a complete 180 on Gronk.

They started to jump on board in the 2nd half of last season but many thought he was worth only about 5 million dollars to bring back. He got 8-10. A steal as he should be around Hunter Henry at 12.5.

A bit of a hyperbole article.

Gronk needs to have a 2 TD 100 yard game against the Bills. His last chance to make a case for the probowl.

The win keeps the Vikings in the playoff hunt. They'll at least give the Packers their best shot.
They are exactly the type of team no one will want to play in the playoffs. A team that will never make the superbowl but can eliminate anyone with a great game from their offense. Look at the offense when all the pieces are healthy. If Brady went there it would be deemed the most talented team in the league. They have alot of talent.

Both Henry and Smith are making 12.5. Neither are worth those contracts. Gronk is worth 14mil this year.

With Gronk it was difficult to tell how much his body had broken down. What actually happened is he was pretty beat up wanted more control over the management of his body and workouts which he was never going to get in New England so he retired. Now that he's joined Brady in Tampa Bay with arians he has control over his body and work out routine and we are seeing the results of that. He looks like prime Gronk.

Similar to Brady, Gronk has really flourished under the coaching style of arians who treats veterans very differently than Bill.

The most important players on Tampa's offense are gronk, brown, and Lenny. If you add up the salaries of just those three players Licht should be GM of the year just for those signings, not to mention Brady.

I can’t even argue on the main forum about this because I’ll be told the Patriots success proves Jonnu Smith is worth $12.5M and they were right about every offseason move. Specifically, Smith was the signing I criticized all offseason and I said Henry was overpaid too, though I understand overpaying for one well rounded TE. I’ve already seen the usual suspects gulping down celebratory shots as they claim they were right all along.

FYI... Chumpzilla is a compliment to the Bucs... specifically Brady.

FO calls it 28-20, TB.

I know the circumstances didn't make it a normal trade for Gronk but looking back yikes were the Pats fleeced or what.

Too bad they couldn't or didn't add conditions to the trade. If he plays X games and gets X catches and yards Pats get a third round pick instead of a 4th, etc.

The only free agent signing that has been worth his money has been Judon. Everyone else has been drastically overpaid for their production. But Bill's coaching as usual has been superb so he has been able to cover up his GM moves and has fans singing his praises as you say while overlooking all the mistakes.

Saints, Packers, and to a lesser degree Cowboys, all have cap issues next year. Rams, too, considering their depleted draft picks.

I thought the Chiefs were supposed to be in trouble cap wise bc of Mahomes contract.

They're pushing everything to the back end of contract.

I think Bourne has been a great signing as well. It’s a typical free agency when you spend big.

One is a hit but is still well paid (Judon).

One is good but not elite like his contract (Henry),

One is a bust (Smith.)

One is pretty good but not very good like his contract (Agholor).

A few are a mixed bags (Godchaux, Brown.).

And as usual the best values are the cheaper guys (Bourne, Van Noy).

That’s free agency. The Patriots did better than most teams with the results so far. But I think the reason a lot of the margins don’t show is because of the dirt cheap QB salary and the emerging homegrown talent is making a huge difference.

Looking at the playoff machine, even if BUF loses against the Bucs and then they win out, and the Pats drop the game against IND, they can still win the division. I don't know if that's likely but find it amazing.

If the Pats beat Indy I see them running the table!

For sure, I just didn't think BUF had a chance to win the division if they lose to the Bucs. Pats would need to lose to both IND and BUF at home which is unlikely imo.
