OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Interesting stat courtesy of @NextGenStats...Chris Godwin caught 13 of his 14 targets last week for 109 yards when running routes down the seams, a record for catches down the seam in the Next Gen Stats era.

Tristan Wirfs hasn’t allowed a QB pressure since Week 8
Longest active streak among tackles

They could also be @ Arizona in the Divisional round for a very intriguing matchup! It's going to be very interesting to see how all of the seeding in the NFC shakes up down the stretch! I still don't think there's a defense in the NFC that can stop a fully healthy Bucs team with AB in the mix regardless of where they play!
I can see the Bucs winning out. If they do, they'll likely be no worse than the 2nd seed. The Bills game is their last big test.

And so the Chargers and Bucs were the only teams to make a serious offer to Brady. Why was that?

Also why weren't the Rams interested since they were already unhappy with Goff? They are the definition of a team that is all in, yet bypassed an opportunity to acquire the GOAT.

That's a big one. Brees records slowly going extinct one at a time.

It's playing out similar to Manning after he retired. Manning was ahead of Brady in many regular season stats, but Brady started to chip away at it, one at a time.

Brady on that Rams team with Kupp (perfect receiver for him imo), Gronk, AB, Woods (injured), potentially Odell with McVay calling the plays? good lord. instead they stick with Goff for a year and then go get overrated Stafford LOL

I don’t mind them going to Arizona that much. 1st seed is ideal of course though. would prefer if they didn’t have to go Green Bay. I know they won their last season but wasn’t the crowd at like 75%? and I try not to complain about calls if I can but I’d like for them not to have to play Rodgers in the playoffs there because you know the calls will probably be in his favor

you love to see it. I guess Manning at least has his MVP’s to fall back on even though 2 or 3 were undeserved. Brees has 1 ring with 1 appearance, 9-9 playoff record, no MVP’s. this is why winning enhances a legacy more than stats

I was trying to think if any quarterback in the history of football has ever owned all the records for championships and winning and all the stats like Brady has. I wonder if any old time quarterbacks like Baugh has it all or is Brady the only one?

I think Brady is the only one. Luckman had Baugh beat in championships

Yeah I think Brady is the only one. So then it becomes has any player ever done it in all of team sports?

I don’t believe so. in basketball it’s

Championships - Russell
Stats - Kareem/LeBron/Jordan/Wilt depending on how you view it

in hockey it’s
Championships - Béliveau or Richard I guess? trying to name actual greats
Stats - Gretzky

baseball I don’t even really count because a player winning a championship is completely different than a sport like football or basketball. Berra has 10 rings and DiMaggio 9, but you would never put them in the Ruth/Bonds/Mays/Williams category

Unfortunately, it is only a matter of time until Brady also gets overtaken in most of these stats now that theyve started to expand on the 16 game schedule (I’m sure its going to expand further). Also, the game is so much more pass heavy than it was in the first 5-6 years of Brady’s career. His win % and championships will probably be safe for a long time though. His legacy is undoubtedly more secure than the likes of Brees & Rodgers.

GB has the easiest schedule remaining by far with Chi, @Bal, Cle, Min and @Det.
Next is TB with Buf, LR, @Car, @NJ and Car.
After that there are three teams with roughly the same strength of schedule,
Ariz with LR, @Det, Ind, @Dal and Sea.
Dal has @Was, @NYG, Was, Ariz and @Phi.
Rams have @Ariz, Sea, @Min, @Bal and SF
Washington could also sneak in there if they beat Dallas twice.

I think the NFC seeding will look like this:
1 - GB
2 - TB
3 - Arizona
4 - Dallas
5 - Rams
6 - SF
7 - Was

I wonder if the Pats being so eager to let Brady walk influenced other teams.

The 1 seed is likely to face Dallas in their first game which is a tough draw as far as first round match ups go

Only team that should worry them if AB is back with team is the Rams. GB are postseason frauds, Arizona I think are a year away, Dallas are frauds. All about matchups and Bowles struggled vs McVay. I think the Bucs should worry about the Saints too if they had servicable QB play.

This is one of the main reasons I will not be following the NFL after Brady retires. It is an abomination what they have done to the game with the rule changes that makes the passing game criminal. Well, except for Mac Jones. LOL

While I agree the league has legislated imbalance to promote scoring, rule changes favoring the passing game have only enhanced Brady's impact and longevity.
