OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

I don't get the Barrett dislike at all. Guy balls out every game. It is more Suh and JPP who has been injured that have underperformed IMO and of course White has had a down year as well which effects the front. I like Tyron a lot though. What a motor on that kid. He just has to play a little more disciplined.

He’s playing at a Pro Bowl level

And I would submit to you that Brady has come up so big in large part due to how he was coached. Manning, Rodgers, and Brees all would have won at least 3 rings under Belichick. Without star players around him, I don't think Brady gets very far outside of Belichick's system. That is not to say that Brady wouldn't be a good QB - I just don't think he wins the super bowl anywhere else without stars like Gronk, AB, Godwin, and Evans.
Belichick wouldn't be a head coach for long without Brady so I'd say much more likely zero than "at least 3"

Brady did more than just fine "outside of Belichick's system" last year. He elevates the team around him. If he was a Detroit Lion he'd elevate them too. As Belichick admitted himself today he makes the coaches job easier.

The Lions are cursed lol

This argument would have been worth discussing before the 2020 season. Now it isn't.

We'll never know. Combined they have 4 rings despite getting to the postseason 35 times. It's not like they had garbage teams often winning 12+ games and getting a bye.

And you didn't think he'd win one with them either.

What a dumb comment. Without Belichick, Brady would be selling insurance because no one else believed in him in 2000. As Belichick is proving this year, he doesn't need Brady to be successful.

He'd never win a SB with Troy Brown, Bethel Johnson, David Givens, etc. outside of BB's system.

When you're down to things like this, probably time to walk away.

Do you really think Brady would win a super bowl with those guys as his primary receivers elsewhere? Doubt it. Put it this way, replace Evans, Godwin, and AB with Brown, Johnson, and Givens in Arians' system with Brady as QB and you get 7-8 wins.

Anyone that knows this stuff ever look at Evans and his routes? Is it that all his routes are intermediate or deep for the most part? Does Brady need to manipulate a Safety on half the routes he runs for it to work? He is not quick enough to even run a slant and box out his guy? Why on 3rd and 7 or so do they not go to him? What about Godwin? No goto routes? It HAS to be play design related no? There's no play Brady trusts with those guys? Double teams can't explain everything.

Could he win one without Evans?
My mother said he wouldn't have seven

Could he, would he without Gronk?
If you think so, you're a honk

He could not, would not without McCoy
Not without Brown (Antonio or Troy)

He would not win one without Bill
Not with the Lions or a dog named Will

He would not, should not, win it all
If he were a bowling ball

Not without Branch
Not on a ranch

Not without Jules
Not with ten mules

Not without a needle
Not with Don Cheadle

Not without Patten
Not without stars
Not on Saturn
Not on Mars

He would not win one
Here or there
He could not win one
Anywhere

Well done Dr. Seus.

Evans is more of a big yardage guy and historically has a catch rate of only about 60%. So not the ideal guy on a must have catch. His catch % hasn't improved much with Brady, so it seems they are going away from him a bit. Last year, they kept on saying that they needed to throw to Evans more especially after a loss, but they are not saying that this year.

Godwin is the more of an all around receiver. He hasn't been as dependable lately but likely just in a funk. He might be a little bit in the doghouse for his mistakes of late.

Why do you insist on clowning yourself in a thread where you claim not to have interest? I mean, do you just randomly punch yourself in the balls at home, too?

Oh look, The Dishonorable Dis-Array's feathers have been ruffled; your skin just gets thinner and thinner. I never claimed having no interest in your hallowed thread, you imperious twit. And I'll post here as often as I damn well please. As for ball punching, you'd be a prime candidate for a swift kick -- if you had any. ;)

Jeez no wonder he was picked 199th.

I really don't understand this sentiment at all. Brady was OUR QB for 20 years helping to win 6 SBs and become the undisputed GOAT. A Pats board is the perfect location to still follow and root for him as I see his success in Tampa as just an extension of his career success in NE. I mean this thread/sub forum was moved off the main board specifically to no conflict with Pats threads, so why come here if you don't like it?

You're responding to my response to someone else. I've stated many, many times that I love Tom Brady for what he did here in New England; I personally attended every single game he played in Foxboro and quite a few other games elsewhere. He remains the undisputed GOAT and if anyone wants to root for him in Tampa, more power to ya. I remain interested in his career as a football fan and this thread provides info in that respect, though I never will be a Bucs backer (ample comic relief in that organization). Where I demur is with those who perpetuate the Brady vs. BB nonsense and/or are pro-Brady, anti-Patriots -- both of which I consider fair game on this message board.

Fair enough. Thanks for explaining.

My skin's fine. You were just posting garbage, so I was pointing that out. This board is not just a Patriots board, and people are not required to toe your homeristic line of making everything about cheering for the Patriots. This forum was specifically made for people who wanted to talk about Brady and his time in Tampa, apparently because some whiny children couldn't handle having a Brady thread in the main forum. And, when you have a forum discussing Brady (or the Celtics, or the Bruins, or the NFL), you're likely to find people that aren't there to give love hugs to the Patriots.

So go back to your lawn, rail against the clouds, and tell the kids to stay off.

Tom Brady's in rare form on his weekly podcast tonight. Throwing shade at the #Colts comin' right outta the gate: "It turns out that horseshoe on their helmet isn't near as lucky as it seems." #Bucs

Brady on what he told the former #Colts coaches on the #Bucs staff (Arians, Tom Moore, Clyde Christensen): "I said, 'Listen, don't everyone get teary-eyed when we beat these guys.'"
