OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

The NFC as a conference is thought to be more “open” in recent history because no team has consistently won the conference. In the AFC, there’s more of a dynastic trend with the Patriots, Chiefs, and to some degree Steelers. But if you look at the reality, it’s mainly due to postseason failures and not overall team strength. The Packers and Saints, after winning the SB in 2010 and 2009, have since combined to make the postseason 15 with 11 appearances in the divisional round. The Packers have 3 conference championship game appearances.

So there really is an old guard here, though the Saints may have just reached the end of their run. The Seahawks have been a consistent contender since 2012 as well.
Once in a while there are a couple of surprises but we can pretty much call the playoff teams by the 1/4 point of the season every year. Buff, NE, Balt, Pitt, KC, Tenn and Indy make the playoffs most years in the AFC, with a sprinkle of LC and the Browns thrown in.

The NFC is the same way but not quite as cut and dried as the AFC. GB, LR, Sea, Dal, Phi, NO and TB are usually there, with a sprinkle of Ariz and Minny.

The NYFL's stated goal is parity but they got parody instead.

Tampa is not usually there. lol only last year. Before that, they had not been to the playoffs in 11 years.

You are assuming Brady is going to play until 50, which is not guaranteed. In fact, he's been talking more and more about spending time with family. And Edelman recently said that Giselle would never let him play past 45. In any event, Jason Licked's track record suggests that he's incompetent. It was Brady who recruited all Tampa's FA of the past year. You'd be a fool to think otherwise. Without Brady what will you guys amount to? There is no QB of the future there. They are going to revert to what they've always been - the Suckaneers.
No I am not assuming anything, I just wonder why the Pats are the only team that can replace a player.

This is a really good feature article dissecting the 3 eras of Brady's career and analyzing if each 7 year era is Hall worthy on its own. Really good stats and historical breakdowns.

You certainly could do it for the first third and final third. That middle one with 18-1 but no ring... maybe, maybe not.

Ironically, the same applies to BB. And maybe he gets some extra credit for 2008 in there.

Could go with:

2000-06 (3)
2007-14 (1)
2015-21 (3)

The first third has the most question marks which surprised me. He wasn't killing it statically then but 2 SB MVPs and 3 rings would be Hall worthy.

The second era he was statistically dominate with 2 league MVPs but no rings. Still Hall worthy.

Ironically this last third he has the 4 rings and stats and it began when he turned 37. Really amazing on so many levels.

What if he does play 3-4 more years? Is there a 4th era? Lol

Definitely the first and last.

I'd say probably not for the middle one since it's only 7 years and there's no championship.

2 MVPs and ridiculous stats. If that's not HOF worthy some other QBs need to be removed and it also takes some others out of consideration.
True. Two historic seasons in there.

2000-06 (3)
2007-14 (1)

Problem is longetivity in the first 2 periods. To fix it, I would go with

2000-07. Sat 1st year and need the reg season stats and 7 playing years.

2008-15. Out 1st year and needs the 15 season to make 7 playing years.

2016-2022/23. 1st Ballot HOF for these years alone, no doubt.

True. TB doesnt belong there. We can take them off the usual list and put them in another category that fits them better. They're a lot like Arizona.

Definitely the first and last.

I'd say probably not for the middle one since it's only 7 years and there's no championship.
If not winning a title keeps you from the hof, then we need to pull most of the QB's out.

Brady 07-13 is a better Marino.
Marino was a great QB and got rid of the ball quickly and on target. I remember at the end how the Pats would be coming in on him untouched and he'd still get the pass off with some accuracy. Brady's the same in that regard.
