He is trying to play through some sort of injury (ribs? chest? shoulder?). All NFL players (except kickers) are nursing injuries at this time of year; it is one of the dirty little secrets of the NFL. If any of us had been hit like Mac has been, we would be barely able to type, nevermind throw a football.Less about being tired
More about getting pancaked early and often in recent games
He was money vs LAC until he was disemboweled
BTW, Bedard did have a hot take in early October that he thought that Jones may be having trouble seeing over the line of scrimmage and that is why he wasn't throwing down field. So Bedard is not always infallible with his analysis.
Beckham would be great but reading Queefs are emerging as the favorites make sense since he loves nasty stuff.Exactly. He accuracy dropped off after being crushed. The Patriots have the steal of the draft, one of the best QBs in the league, but shame on them for not giving him WRs that can get consistenly open or protecting him.

Activating Stidham is part of the plan it seems. Having 3 QBs provides some protection and depth.I don't think it's ground breaking to report or speculate that a rookie is starting to get fatigued given the explanted workload in the NFL vs College. I think there might be some truth
The rookie wall is real...what I want to see is how the Patriots deal with it now that there's a legitimate path to the playoffs. I want to see how Mac responds.
I subscribe and remember this as an off handed thought rather than a hot take, which is all the "take" about being worn down is.
In one of the question and answer sessions during preseason when Mac was having passes batted down I asked Bedard if he thought height would be a problem and he said no.
Bedard has had many bad and great takes over the years, but this year to be fair he has been one of the most right and has had great observations about the team.
It's easy to be critical. Now Ben Volin. There's a clown.
Yup. The rookie wall is a real thing. They all hit it because the body isn’t used to that much football. The high school and college seasons are dramatically shorter with more time off between games (byes, conference championships, bowl games). I think the late bye might end up being a good thing for him and the other rookies. What was originally looked at as a curse will likely end up being a blessing in disguise. He'll hit the rookie wall.. that's pretty self-evident. They all do so the question is how fast they can bounce back.
Rookies go from the college season (extended in Mac’s case) to the combine and prodays to mimicamp, OTAs, the rookie football development program and into TC and then the season. It’s a long haul.I don't think it's ground breaking to report or speculate that a rookie is starting to get fatigued given the explanted workload in the NFL vs College. I am not trashing Bedard. Overall, I think he is one of the better analysts among the local sports writers. I am just pointing out he has had opinions about Jones' play in the past that were not reality.
You nailed it. A lot of times QB's who never played or rookies, come out like a house on fire and then all of the sudden, they fall back. I am sure Mike White will do this, and also a few others. Semien. etc. Teams just do not have film, they are not risking anything yet, so you go from turnover machines to guys taking short stuff and not wanting to make mistakes. Everything is about how they respond when teams adjust to them, the playbook opens up and things like that. This is what seperates the QBs that go on to be good in the league and the ones that you never hear from again.Probably a little bit of a lot of things: Some rookie wall for sure, some normal ebb and flow of a season, playing high quality pass rushes that speed up his internal clock, and DC's having half a season of film now to really break down the cracks in his game. Not much you can do before the bye week about the wall, but how he adjusts to everything else will be key.
