Aaron Rodgers positive for COVID (update: “furious” status leaked, claims he didn’t lie, attacks NFL protocols)

Yikes!!!

Look, I know many people don’t want go get vaccinated. But let’s keep repeating this: the NFL allows unvaccinated players to play in every practice and every game, in every stadium. Other than mask wearing indoors, and not traveling with the team, what on earth is this guy’s beef?

Public safety protocols are always going to be more cautious, whether they make sense or not; they don’t update in real-time with the latest data. Likely next year, the protocols will be much more lax, and they’ll continue in that direction. It seems wearing a mask, indoors, and receiving your own transportation to eight games, isn’t really such a huge sacrifice for a guy who makes around $2M per game.

Whether or not one agrees about vaccines, I’m just not sure how one would disagree with this.
Don't forget that the NFLPA also agreed to these protocols, which is obviously a key factor in all of this.

You know Rodgers is a different bird. He told you the rules don't apply to him. When he said he was going to retire this season it was over this and it just blew up in his face.

You keep thinking this is about the vax. It's not. It's about Rodgers and his inability to ever rise above himself. We saw it all offseason and really for his entire career.

Well said.

Not sure he will be doing any gloating anytime soon. Would not surprise me to see him retire over this.
I don’t see him retiring but anything is possible. He’ll be 38 next month and can probably squeeze out 3-4 more years at ~$30M/yr. I wouldn’t leave around $100M on the table while I still have the spring in the strings, just my $.02

I knew he was nuts when he didn't lock down Olivia Munn

Imagine if I responded to this with my honest answer and really wrecked this thread?

We’ll just leave it at this: there’s a very well known belief for why Rodgers isn’t married and why all of his “relationships” are with well known female celebrities.

These are false equivalency. Getting vaccinated keeps you safe and others safe. It does not require a major behavior change like people who get fat and those who smoke.
It is not even remotely a false equivalency. Not even close.

It is a completely logical connection when certain people start suggesting that hospitals not treat people who behave a certain way or don’t take care of themselves a certain way.

Aaron thinks masks are dumb and useless. But... he'll still take your money.

Aaron Rodgers NFLPA face mask.
People need to relax with the Rodgers face mask. It isn’t like he’s printing and selling them himself. It is an NFLPA product. Once some business makes a deal with the NFLPA, they can use any player’s image they want (and the above mentioned website has plenty of other players available).

I am vaccinated myself, but I do regard doing so as an individual matter. That said, Rodgers is now and has always been an insufferable, narcissistic blowhard. So I'm not surprised he'd lie about it.

If I had a nickel for every time I ever said "Aaron has a likable personality", I'd be living here..>>>>>>>>

Isn't Rodgers estranged from his entire family?????? One or two members we can all understand but the entire crew?? Starting to think maybe it's Aaron and not them....

Changing addictive behavior is much harder than getting a vaccine. It's not in the same solar system. This is why you have your world view, it is simplistic, lacks a deep understanding of the human condition, and the world we inhabit.

He is. The brother and the mom and dad.

holy krist what a load of psychobabble bullshyt...YOU can't even spell CAT half the damn time and you're throwing stones?... NUMB ****...you really are all jerked off since your daddy, I.C. took his ten cars and five houses and moved away...like the total gutless coward he is.

But they wouldn't be as fun to wear

I would like to see where you got this from. My vaccinated son had symptoms for a week, how could his spread time be just a day? If what you say is true, why hasn't the CDC come out with new recommendations for vaccinated people who get Covid shortening their isolation times?

Symptoms do not track with infectiousness. This is true about just about every virus, because it is part of how virus' use their hosts. By the time you recognize the cold symptoms, you've already done your part to spread the virus around.

And the LAST thing the CDC is going to do is tell people to shorten their isolation times. The virus adapts, people are impulsive...that's like lighting a COVID bomb in a crowd.

I am the one advocating our health care system treat everyone and not filter out large segments of the population. Anyone who finds that belief "simplistic and lacks a deep understanding of the human condition" is someone whose priorities are as perverse and demented as their line of thinking.

"Health care is a universal right!"
"No, not for you people...."

But they wouldn't be as fun to wear
They all actually look pretty low rent to me. It is clear that while they got NFLPA licensing, they did not get NFL licensing. To this day, my favorite mask - both in terms of comfort and design - remains the one the Pats sent STHers last year.

This would be a useful conversation for society to have. Health care is socialized; nobody owns their own hospitals etc. So we are all drawing on a community resource. What is my responsibility to my neighbors to behave in a manner that uses that resource wisely? At what point do I exhibit a set of choices that cause me to use a much higher portion of the shared resource? What consequences do I face in relation to my fellow community members? How much healthier would we be as a society if there were health care resource consequences?

I know we can't actually have this conversation, because there would be a fear reaction to a conceptual exploration, but we are poorer for it.

I think we've been discussing health care for about 3 decades now. But let us face it: America is not a country chock full of people living healthy lifestyles. Overeating, drugs, STD's, viral infections..... we have a lot of those things going around....

Then be consistent, Ian. The way you handle this is as political as any statement against. Nice try.
Not even close. No surprise from you. He asked one side not to discuss their opinion. That isn't limiting based on the politics of the topic, its demanding silence from those he disagrees with. Its a pathetic change in stance from this sites owner and is completely indefensible under his claimed reasoning.

Shame on you, @Ian.
Good Lord ... with all due respect - what are you even talking about...?

I said I didn't want to get into it, aside from the fact Rodgers agreed to the policy through the NFLPA so he has to adhere to it.

And no - in the football forum, I'm not going to argue vaccine efficacy, vaccinated vs unvaccinated, and all the other nonsense that goes along with it. I'm not going to allow for this to devolve into a thread where policies and parties are argued over and nothing is accomplished, aside from more people hating each other on here over it. In the football forum, most of us (I hope) have the same rooting interest. In the political world, it's a different story.

Stop it with thinking I have some ulterior motive other than the fact I don't want to deal with people arguing the topic on the football board. In case you haven't noticed, there's one in the Pub I really haven't touched. I've simply asked to not get into all of that here in this thread.

Truthfully, you're looking for a conspiracy where there isn't one. I'm sorry you feel the way you do, but I'm "demanding silence" from everyone in here in terms of keeping politics out of it. I've even already deleted disparaging marks toward Trump in addition to others the other way. In this thread, I don't care about Trump, Biden, Fauci, whoever else, politics, policies, etc. Because again, I don't want to get into it in this thread.

It's not about what anyone of us thinks on a broad level about COVID - NONE of those opinions matter to the NFL or the NFLPA. Trying to pick a fight with me isn't going to change that, and that's the point I'm making when it comes to not wanting to argue about it here. We're not changing the world here, we're arguing about how Mac Jones looks, how frustrating McDaniels playcalling can be, plays that N'Keal Harry continues to not make, second-guessing coaching decisions, seeing someone like Brandon Bolden make plays, etc.

This is PatsFans.com - not LetsArgueAboutPolitics.com. Although, I just looked and the latter is available BTW - so if you'd like to add some stress to your life, by all means, go for it. But I'm not doing it here.

Otherwise, this thread is about Rodgers and the fact he's arguing over policies the NFLPA agreed to and he's being paid quite well over it. I wish Green Bay had won yesterday and Love had played better, but that didn't happen...so now he'll be able to gloat and that frustrates me.

But that's what we're talking about here. I'm sorry I've disappointed you, but I've been transparent and consistent about that when it comes to the football forum. And yes, I do have plenty of shame when it comes to other mistakes I've made in here over the years, which I've also mentioned and they definitely bother me. But trying to keep politics out of here - as best I can anyway - isn't one of them.
People are funny. As an aside, a few years ago, my wife decided she could "give back" a bit to the community and volunteer (zero pay) to run the Website and Facebook page of a Ski and Beach Trip social club we belong to, about 600 members or so, many retired (although I'm not). So: she is doing an important favor to the club and its members as a volunteer for free, and it ends up being a remarkable amount of work, you would think she would be showered with appreciation, no? Well, a few are appreciative, but there were and are a large number of constant, often quite ugly complaints from people that obviously have wayyyyy too much time on on their hands complaining about details of how she handled this volunteer activity. Some of the things they complain about are hard to believe, the most insignificant details you can imagine. She has a fairly thick skin with this type of thing (as do I), so she is still doing this volunteer activity with (mostly) a glad giving heart, but it is remarkable how many people complain and are completely obnoxious and ugly to someone who is doing a vital volunteer service that enriches the lives of many (including the complainers) that so many depend on.

...I'm not sure why this story came to mind while reading this thread....
